Warm but snug

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit:Runs small

Construction and design of these boots are wonderful, but due to the padding and insulation this boot runs small. Need to return and upgrade to the next size.

I ordered one whole size up...but after 2 seasons, have now packed-down, and I wonder if I could have gotten away with going only a half-size up...I wear thick wool socks that not only provide additional warmth, but take up any 'slack'...just a thought. They still work perfectly.

2 Years and still going strong. Great all around winter boots...NOT technical hiking/mtn. climbing boots, but great for all other GENERAL, WARM, DRY, winter stomping gear

So warm. Size up; but the plush interior will pack down somewhat; nothing that a good pair of wool socks can't help with (the boots run small, the problem is length, mostly, otherwise a half size up might work for most...recommend one whole size up). Some may want to size up even more, but remember, they will pack down, a bit.

For a non-hiking specific boot, they have great arch & ankle support.

The 'business-end' of these boots:

The 'business-end' of these boots:

The North Face "Ice Pick" technology really bites...the ice & snow, that is.

They really do have great traction in all kind of winter conditions (mud, too).

confy & warm, tough & stylish, affordable & durable, one of the best balanced I have so far

t my only disappointment is wth the site itself. I did not know that the front was not a leather front, it is more like a rubber galosh. For the look of it on the picture, if you want it to be a everyday boot to wear inside of a building all day, like a timberland or leather boot, it is not possible. Because of the rubber look , it looks more like a rain or snow boot to be removed once you enter a building. I would like a category of boots that are everyday, leather, weatherproof boots, that can be worn all day inside and outside, so that when a customer looks at them they can be sure of what they are getting.

True, they don't actually say that the bottoms of these waterproof, weather resistant, thermall protection (-40 f) rugged SNOW boots (with "ice-pik" tech.) are rubber...(it seems obvious in the pic. but they should declare it, I guess). Had all the above boots at some time, they do not have the tech. or built as well as these, though. These are made for rough weather, not the mall/office...and they don't pretend to be!

I wear a size 9-9.5 street shoe. I ordered the 9 and they fit great. Keep in mind they will pack out a bit if they're tight.

Can't wait to rock these to the hill this year!

    Great Boot, hard to size....

I normally wear a size 10 1/2 in a normal shoe...... and so I ordered these in a size 11 to be safe. When I received them, I could hardly fit my foot in there. I ended up returning them twice for larger sizes, and finally ended up with a size 13. These fit really well, and are extremely warm. I wore them in the Colorado mountains where the temperature was in the low teens and my feet were perfectly comfortable. I didn't even have thick socks on, just normal thin hanes ankle socks. I am very impressed with the quality of these boots and their insulation!! A great buy!

He's right; the same thing goes for the ladies' sizing: I ended up having to go a whole size up. Other than that, they are the best! Great support, everthing that claimed is so. PLUS, they look cool!

      I wear a size 8.5, do you suggest I buy a size 9.5?

Yes, I would (and had to) go one whole size up. Even when the fuzzy lining packs down a bit, you still will need the length for toes...they run small for both width & length. If in the event they are a tad too big (which I really doubt), you can always add insoles, or even exchange, of course. My feet are rather small (even for a woman), but the half-size up was still too snug, even with regular socks. You WILL love these!
