Sometimes backpack straps make you feel like you're wearing one of those old, U-shaped orange life jackets. Thanks to a women's-specific hip-belt and shoulder harness, The North Face Women's Mako Hydration Backpack actually feels comfortable. Store an extra layer and snacks in the Mako Hydration Pack's large and secondary compartments, and keep sunscreen and tissues close at hand in the front and side mesh pockets. The 100-ounce, antimicrobial water reservoir holds enough liquid to keep you going for a few hours, while the bite valve opens and closes easily without dripping.

Bottom Line: The North Face Mako Hydration Pack—the days of stiff, orange life vests and uncomfortable men's backpacks are over.

Strangeness of The North Face

By:
June 12, 2009

I believe that The North Face makes a product before testing out the market. What I do not understand is how TNF has made such a device. I gave it to my girlfriend and I said that is the most uncomfortable of the world make long journeys with this backpack because of its aluminum structure that is in the back. It is the only one against this product, but recently it unusable. Because of this we have decided to buy another model but from the same brand. Do not let yourselves be tempted by the price

Great, but careful if you're petite

Great size and weight, just the right amount of storage room. Love the magnetic mouth piece. Only gripe is that since I'm small (5'0"), the chest strap hits at an awkward spot and the pack rides up when I walk (because it hits my hips). I solved this problem by positioning the chest strap under my chest. This seems to keep it down pretty effectively.

LOVE it!! Great fit and airy on the back. Love the emergency whistle and the magnet for the mouth piece. Also like that the mouth piece can be closed by turning it. I did not even have to break it in before our Fuji hike! Got it just in time (quick delivery). Was worried about the fit, but it was super comfortable and roomy enough for lots of warm clothes, mini first aid kit, head lamp, snacks and 3L water!!! HIGHLY recommend it:0)
