Nice coat

This jacket is quite deceiving. I pulled it out of the package and was dumbfounded at how lightweight it is. I thought to myself, didn't I order a winter jacket? I live in the Northeast and it gets FRIGID in the winters. Pair that with a dog that has to be walked every day and night, I needed a warm jacket. Well, I am happy to report that this jacket indeed fits that bill. It is very warm!! I love it! This past weekend when we had the Nor'Easter I paired it with a NorthFace fleece and was actually TOO toasty! This is a great jacket. Love the purple color, it's perfect.

I'm 5'2 tall with 27-28 inch of waist, what size should I take? I'm afraid XS is too small for me..

Hi Sharon, my sister has the same measurements but has a big bust and likes the Medium. I'm 5'2" with a 24" waist and smaller bust and XS fits me fine, with room to layer. I highly recommend you take your bust and hip measurements and compare it to TNF's sizing chart:
http://www.backcountry.com/store/sizingchart.html?sizing_id=679&sku=TNF5291&pg_id=100000116&subcat_id=42&;cat_id=12

Hope this helps! :)

It gets to be about -20C sometimes where I live, but the jacket kept me warm, although I think a light sweater inside could help on rougher days. Great fit, super light-weight. Went cross-country skiing with it, was light and comfortable, kept me super warm. Water bounces right off. This is a great jacket. Love how it's a little tighter around the hips to keep the cold from getting in under.

You'll love it too, I think.

Cheers.

Best winter jacket I've ever owned

By:
April 22, 2011

I live in Seattle where it's cool in the winter and rains constantly, and thus far, this jacket has held up great. It's very light and at first I was skeptical but it's kept me warmer than any other jacket I own, it's been great in the rain, very waterproof, as well as windproof. The only concern I have is making the waterproofing last when it comes to washing. I know I can't dry clean it, but I've experienced other jackets losing their waterproof coating after several machine washes and I'm hoping that won't happen with this jacket.

I got this in the mail today. I love it! Its very lightweight and soft. Feels like it has some down padding in it, but no actual bird feathers.
Just what I was looking for. Has a great cut- with slight tapering in the waist area.
