There might be other trench coats out there with recycled, waterproof fabric and sleek, around-town style, but do those other jackets have zip-out liners? How about zip-out liners made with 50%-recycled insulation? The North Face Women’s Lauren Trench Coat has all of the above.

  • 100%-Recycled, waterproof breathable HyVent 2L fabric and taped critical seams fight wetness
  • PrimaLoft Eco liner adds warmth when you need it and zips out when you don’t
  • Removable hood reduces bulk on clear days
  • Two hand pockets on the zip-out liner make the liner more convenient to wear on its own

Bottom Line: Friendly to Mother Earth and her weather changes.

This is a beautiful coat. The color is really attractive, and the versatility of the liner makes this a great go-to option in all weather. I live in Northern New Hampshire and can use this through all seasons. It looks nice with everything. I did find the zipper took a little getting used to, a bit difficult to zip, but otherwise no complaints. I think the length and style is flattering, and would definitely recommend this for its appearance and functionality. Buy It!!You will love it!!!

Great coat; probably best on a tall person

Awesome insulated rain coat. All as everyone else says, it's 3 coats in one.In disgusting March rainy days in a cold climate it does the job. And I think I'll use the under lining a lot just on its own. Fit wise it's probably better on a tall person. I'm 5'2" and bought the white color and I think i look like a bit of a whale. It's a lot of coat even though it looks streamlined. Maybe once I get the sleeves shortened it will look better. Order up a size.

I bought a small for my daughter who is trim size 6 (USA). It is slender through the hips so if you are pear shaped and larger on the bottom you may want to size up.

Loved it but wrong fit

By:
April 8, 2010

I ordered the Lauren trench coat and loved it - the quality is superb and it was very comfortable. And I loved the versatility of the zip out lining that can be worn as a separate coat. However, the fit just wasn't right for me. I typically take a Medium in North Face but I found the Lauren trench runs rather large. If it weren't for that, I would have kept it. I ordered the insulated Grace Jacket from Backcountry and am waiting for it to arrive with hopes that it's a better fit for me.

Great coat

What a perfect coat! I live in So Cal and we actually have some rainy cold nights here, believe it or not. THis coat is 3 in 1. THe inner lining is a very cute coat and can be worn alone. THe outer shell is an amazing rain coat. Water just beeds off. Or you can wear then together for a cold day in a colder climate. Perfect length too. I am 5'9" and 120 lbs and the small was perfect. COuld have gone medium if I wanted to wear thicker seaters underneath. It's very attraitve and sleak. I tried around 12 coats and this one I couldn't be happier with.

Great coat

This is a great coat! It really is 3 on 1 and also classy, stylish and as sleak as one can get in a coat that is also very funstional. I tried many and this was my favorite. I am 5'9", 120 lbs and a small was good for me. I could have goen with medium if I wanted to wear thicker sweaters underneath.
This coat is worth the money.

warm and waterproof

By:
January 12, 2010

The shapely styling of this trench coat is very flattering and comfortable. It is warm (Christmas in New England) and dry for working in London. The longer than car coat length helps both aspects. Outside fabric is not noisy as some may be and the lining is effective and not cumbersome.
The only drawback is the main double sided (or double-ended) zipper. It is difficult to maneuver due to a long reach to get it started and it did not zip smoothly. I hope it works itself in. Otherwise, this is the best coat I've ever owned.

I live in Victoria BC and weather is pretty mild and was wondering which jacket would be better Marmot Destination Jacket or North Face Lauren Trench Coat .

I bought the Marmot coat and LOVED it. However, shortly after I started wearing it, the sleeve and shoulder started to pill. I am heartbroken! And, ironically, the exact same thing happenend to my my mother's Marmot coat. I am returning it for a full refund and am now considering this Lauren Trench...

Hi Dawn - I don't know much about the Destination, but it looks like the biggest difference is that the Lauren has a zip out liner which could be handy for a wider range of temperatures, and looks pretty cool if worn on it's own.
Hope this helps

THE coat to face our cold winter in Paris

By:
February 5, 2010

I am enjoying my coat so much that it is the only one I have been wearing since I got it a month ago.

Usually always scared about being cold, I can now face all the changes of temperature we are going through at the moment with ease (from 10° to - 8° Celsius) and this without my usual 6 layers of sweaters. My boyfriend can't believe it.

It is comfortable, elegant and keep cold, rain and wind away.
Thank you North Face

Love it!

By:

I have lived in Florida for a long time and the prospect of moving north frightened me since I need a sweater when it's 70. This coat was the answer! I love that the sleeves are long enough that my wrists aren't exposed when cycling and the coat can be work all together but the shell and the liner also look great. I am not particularly busty, but the medium was too small for my upper body and I had to order a size up in order to be able to wear sufficient under layers. It's a shame this coat was discontinued because it is a wonderful piece that can take you through all seasons.

I live in Chicago, where winters can be cold, wet, and all-around

I live in Chicago, where winters can be cold, wet, and all-around gross. I am looking for a synthetic lined long jacket that will keep me extra toasty while I walk my dog. Would the warmth of this jacket be equivalent to that of a down jacket?

It won't be as warm as a down jacket but Primaloft fill itself is warmer than their synthetic competitors.

Great Coat

By:
February 1, 2010

I really like the Lauren Trench Coat I just got last month. Only a couple of minor problems: the sleeves are too long. I have long arms and have never had this problem in a coat before. Also, the arms are a little tight, especially with an extra layer. But the warmth and versatility of this coat more than outweigh these little issues. Oh, I agree with the other comment about the zipper being hard to get started. I usually just end up using the snaps, unless it is very cold outside.

Maybe not the only coat I'll ever need, but pretty close

By:
January 12, 2010

It is three coats in one, but this coat does the job of more than just three coats (if the number of coats I no longer need which I will be donating to Salvation Army is any indication). It is more than holding its own against a Chicago winter and I can't wait to see how it handles Minnesota at the end of January!
