My husband loved this vest I gave to him. He's been wearing it to work almost every week! Collar doesn't bother him just like what was mentioned in other reviews. Got the color blue and it really looks great with dress shirt and khaki pants.

Excellent Fleece vest, slightly big(loose) for a medium, definitely not snug. Love the fleece as
another layer. I'm using this to replace my old one which has been cycled down to every day work abuse.
Extra warmth

I got this vest as an extra layer to wear under my jacket for those extra cold and cooler days. I wouldn't say it is an athletic fit but it is definitely not boxy either. When I wear it in cooler temps with a fleece or sweatshirt, it is great at giving you that added warmth. I actually like that the collar is high to protect your neck, it stands up and doesn't droop down but you can definitely fold it down. The fleece material is nice and protects against the cool breeze. This is definitely one of those purchases I'm very happy I made.

disappointing. really wanted the from way back when original north face fleece vest. and this is not it. long, big, and the collar is thick and awkward for a guy. my old north face vests are large and xlarge and in this one even the medium was big.
Great versatility

Feels soft, fits well, versatile.
The thick collar gets in the way occasionally; but it can fold down easily, and comes in handy when it's colder or windy.

I can dig it.

I dig this vest. It adds a bunch of heat as a midlayer. On one spring day a buddy of mine and I were skiing Mammoth and he put it on and took it off after a couple of runs claiming that it was a "death vest" for the heat it added. I'll take that! In the dead of winter it's exactly what I need for those extra 10 degrees or so.
Quality seems fine to me, fits well, seems durable, etc. It's not PolarTec but it's not priced like PolarTec either, so there you have it.
The collar doesn't bother me. There seem to be some overly-sensitive folks about. It's a collar. The only gripe I have with it is that it's too narrow to comfortably zip all the way up. But it almost does, and I have a huge neck, so for my small-necked brothers and sisters, said limitation need not apply.
I'm giving it 4/5 for not being as nice as the discontinued Denali vest of biblical popularity (Why the hell did they discontinue that?).

I got this vest as a gift. I tossed away the description tag therefore I wasn't sure what type TNF vest for awhile until I ran across this page. It is a little thicker than my REI, Patagonia vests in I owned in the past, but I love this material. It is like the thick version of TKA material. Love it!
Great Layering Fleece

I've been wearing this vest for about a month now and can not seem to get out of the house without putting it on. I love the length (b/c I'm about 6' 3")and the collar size(big) is great to keep the neck and chin area warm. On the down side you almost have to wear it under a jacket in any kind of cold(10 - 30 degree F) weather and zero wind resistance. But I bought it with that understanding and the price is right, so I highly recommend for layering but not so much as a stand alone vest.
perfect addition

I bought this vest for my son, to zip into his north face jacket. He loves the versatility. It gives him warmth without being too bulky.

Write your question here..DOES THE VEST HAVE TWO INSIDE POCKETS?? LONG --TALL STRAIGHT POCKETS??.

The pockets accessible from the outside are sewn to the fleece on the bottom and two sides, leaving the top open. They are very usable as tall inside pockets.
Good for me

I see nothing wrong with how the fleece was made and I like the collar keeping the back of my neck warm. I don't think the collar is all that stiff. For the price it suits me just fine. No complaints.
great vest for the price!

this is a great fleece vest for the price! it also zips into my nf amplitude triclimate jacket so thats another bonus. yes, it may not seem as high quality fleece compared to others which are made by polartec(ie denali), but this vest will keep your core warm and you don't have to spend a lot for it.
Husband Loves It

I bought the blue one for my husband a few months ago and it's his favorite thing to wear! Just purchased the grey one for him and now he can't decide between the two! The fleece is heavier and thicker, just like the Khumbu jacket, but is super warm and comfortable/flexible enough to be functional. No complaints from my husband about the stiff collar...I actually like how it retains it's shape (I have the women's version). Some of the thinner vests have collars that are just too floppy and don't stay up when you need them to unless zipped all the way up.

The collar does fold down, but it is tall and thick. That is the main reason why I returned mine.
