The Khumba gives you everyday versatility with super-cold-day capability. Worn alone, this 300-weight fleece is all you need to stay toasty in the fall or spring. Then, when the mercury really dives, snap your Khumbu into a shell from The North Face to make a cold-weather parka.

I am a "small" woman. ordered Boy's XL at first. It was too big, so returned that and got a L. It fits great. Loving it. Makes me feel so nice and warm. Though, sometimes i wish it was a hoodie!!!

Love, love, love this jacket. Medium fit was a bit large for my 8 yr old grandson but he'll use it two seasons. Another great quality NF product that will be passed down his younger brother.
Ok first let me start by saying the price is always right at Backcountry.com. Second the shipping is unreal fast. I ordered three days ago and I was greeted by UPS this morning! I ordered with standard shipping. Lastly my son loves his NF fleece jacket so much he refuses to take it off! It is the perfect fit and super soft! Thanks Backcountry.com and as always you can't go wrong with The North Face.
I'd say this is pretty good if you are working hard outside but I'd get a bit chilled sitting around or leisurely walking around town. The denail is quite a bit thicker and will be significantly warmer.
Ok, so now all 4 of us in the family have North Face jackets and we will never wear anything else! I bought this jacket for my son (who is only 6) and he is SO picky about what he wears! He loves this jacket bc of how comfortable it is AND because of how easy it is to zip up. He's so proud of it that he takes extra-special care of it, it will never be found in the floor!
Just bought this recently and loved it instantly. The temperature dipped in Los Angeles last week and it was perfect for the weather, I didn't even need a jacket. It kept me warm throughout the day & I loved the color red that I chose. The fit was perfect and I plan to buy another one as soon as it goes on sale again. I highly recommend it & other North Face products.
Is this jacket fleece all over--including the sleeves. I can't tell for sure from the picture and I have looked at some NF that have a different fabric on the sleeves.
This item was purchased for my grandson for Christmas--now almost 2 weeks ago and he seldom has it off. He finds it very comfortable and a great weight even though our weather has been extremely cold. He is 13 and the Boys XL is a good fit for him. All my grandchildren have The North Face jackets and I highly recommend them!
On The TNF website it says it's 300 weight fleece but at backcountry says it's 200 weight fleece??? I want to get this fleece jacket for a very active boy, would the jacket be able to stand up to constant wash and not pile up or would the apex be a better jacket for an active boy?
The Khumbu is a 300 weight fleece. The Khumbu would hold up well for you, the fabric will be very pil resistant for a very long time. The Bionic is a nice choice as well - certainly a bomber fabric, and more wind/water resistant than the Khumbu, but obviously not as warm with a lighter fleece backing. You can always layer under it, so the Bionic would make a nice choice.
My son really wanted this fleece. I hesitated for a while because other children his age have lost theirs at school, but I finally decided to order. I haven't regretted my decision! He loves wearing it & says it is very warm! And he hasn't misplaced it yet :)
Purchased this for my nephew for the fall. He won't take it off! He loves it! The price was fantastic and I got it quickly. Not super heavy, but a great layering piece.
Maybe just a little big, but not much. My 6 year old normally wears a size 6/7 in shirts and I got him a Small jacket and it fits with room to grow. Hope that helps!
I found this fleece at an awesome price for my friend's 4 year old. Not having children of my own I had no idea on sizing. I got the small which is a little big but he can grow into it. He loves this jacket and grabs it even when it isn't that cold out.
I bought this jacket for my 8 yr. old son for Christmas. Came in very quickly, great service. I bought a small because he likes things to fit him to size, which it does. He has worn it everyday since we got it. I know he will probably only get one year out of it, but I have a 5 yr. old son also who can use it next. Plenty warm enough if you live in the south! Great buy overall!
The jacket fits well (true to size, not to bulky) and my son loves to wear it. It is warm and cozy and looks good! The quality seems to be really good although we have not had it long enough to see what it looks like after many washings.
I bought this jacket for my nephew as a Christmas present, and he has not taken it off since. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and ended up getting a medium. My nephew is 7 years old and weighs about 58 pounds- he is average height- the jacket is a little big on him, but that is perfect, because the jacket will last this year and next. Although a little big, he likes to layer with hoodies, so it is a perfect fit. Well worth it for an active kid.
Got the denali jacket for my 14 year old son, he's tall and slender so I had to return the lg or an XL. He loves it! I have to make him take it off when we are inside. It's warm enough to wear outside but light enough for him to wear while in school. We will have to get a mens small next year but will but from backcountry.com. I had a great buying experience with you. Thanks!!
I ordered a large for my 14 yr old, he weighs 100 lbs and is 5'4", the size is a 14-16, it was too small. I suggest buying a bigger size than your child actually years. Will write again once we exchange for a bigger size. I am sure he will love it though.
We bought a Khumbu from Backcountry in August and the zipper failed. I called Backcountry and they we actually happy to exhange it for us. My seven-year-old loved the old jacket and loves the new jacket even more. He wears it every day and sometimes even when he's just hanging out in the house! You can't go wrong with Backcountry.
My daughter is 11 years old and has a child large right now but she's beginning to outgrow it and we're getting ready to look for an adult small. I find that the extra large in child is HUGE. They literally run as big as a medium adult. Hope that helps.
I bought this NorthFace for my son (13) for Christmas -- he loves it and it looks great on him -- I also bought the gloves -- they are a little tight, but match the jacket perfectly! I know he will stay warm waiting for his school bus in the morning!
I bought this jacket for my son(7). I ordered a size larger(sz.8) than he typically wears so I could get thru 2 winters with it and it fits fine. A little big but I was expecting that. My son absolutely loves it!! All of the "big kids" in our town have NF jackets, so my son now feels like one of them. He stays warm on cool days with just a t-shirt and under shirt on. Now he's asking for a NF beanie!! Wonderful and speedy service from BC. Go ahead...order today. You will not be disappointed!
My 7 year old son was thrilled with this jacket for Christmas. I was thrilled with the price as compared to department stores. Great doing business with backcountry.com.
