Here's what others have to say...

I'm a fan.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs small

I was in the market for a quality rain jacket that will last me for years, which led me to North Face. I wanted something that I could wear around town that wouldn't look too strictly sporty, so was excited to find this jacket. It's stylish and sleek, and the removable hood adds some nice versatility.

I'm about 5'5" and 125 pounds, and the size Medium was perfect for me. The size chart recommended a size Small, and while it did fit and looked nice, it provided very little mobility in the shoulders and layering underneath it would have been impossible. I was worried that a Medium would look too large, but it looks great. It was only a smidge longer in the arms and torso length than the Small, but is much more comfortable and roomy in the shoulders and I can layer a sweater or hoodie under it for additional warmth. It comes down just over my rear.

I wore it with just a long sleeved t-shirt today, and I think it'll be perfect for typical drizzly Portland days in the 40s and 50s.

Additional bonus that Backcountry customer service was great! Thanks so much.

Not for tall girls

The quality and style were perfect. It would have have great to have a "tall" option. I had to return the coat... I am 5'9", 150# and usually buy med or large North Face products. I bought the large so I could wear sweaters under this coat. The coat had enough "girth" but the length of the coat and the sleeves were like a medium- too short for me. The waist band was around my lower chest! As always, Backcountry returns are easy-peasy... I'll find something else.
