I'm considering taking up trail running and would like to take water and a bar along. How well does this pack stay in place while running?

Use it for running myself. It includes a waist strap, but I don't even use it - works well without it.
The water sloshes about, but its no worries.

How do you avoid freezing of liquid in the tubings? They are not foam protected....

You can either buy a neoprene sleeve that fits over the hose, like the Granite Gear Winterizer, or the easiest thing is after you drink to make sure that you blow the water back into the bladder.

The ergonomics of this pack are just perfect for my 5"10", 155 lb. frame. No bouncing of the load, and the nozzle remains in place without fail. The accessory storage is adequate. My only "complaint" is the slow flow rate of the mouthpiece no matter how you bite.
