The North Face Women's Isabella Backpack is ready to go the distance. The Isabella has molded shoulder straps to comfortably fit a woman's narrower frame. Mesh water bottle pockets on the sides give you a place to stash water and other drinks so you stay hydrated (or caffeinated) on your journey across campus or across town. Keep all your schoolin' gear such as books and notebooks organized in the main compartment's internal divider pockets. A bungee system and organizer pocket on the Isabella's front panel give you quick access to a rain jacket, keys, cell phone, and other important stuff. Reflective hits on this The North Face daypack protect you from errant bikes and cars at night.
Bottom Line: Carry your gear in comfort with The North Face Isabella pack.
I got this bookbag for my gf and she loves it. It fits her fine shes 4' 11" and the bookbag fits all her school materials in it. Also plenty of pockets on the inside for technical organizing. 100% official.

I am thinking about purchasing this backpack for my first year in High School. I just bought my school supplies and have a 2 inch binder with folders in it and a 3 subject notebook for each class. Is this backpack big enough to hold all that plus text books? I won't be bringing those home every night but if I have homework in many classes, I will have to. So is this backpack big enough for all my stuff?

So I put on this pack and it fits me perfect! It is well constructed and great for me and my body. I'm 5 foot 7 medium build. I really like ladies packs because they fit my body better. I have a shorter torso than a man - so voila!! a ladies pack caters to this comfort!! YAY! love it. =)
This daypack was the perfect size for my hiking treks. It was comfortable and held a lot. I enjoyed the straps on the front where I could put my fleece when I wasn't using it. I was disappointed that this bag did not have a chest strap. It would have felt a lot more secure with the chest strap. I also found that my back became very sweaty when hiking with this backpack. There is no room for your back to breathe. Overall it is a good bag and I am pleased with it for the most part.
As great as it looked good and felt comfortable, it was too small. I read other reviews saying how it was small but I didn't expect it to be THIS small. I could barely squeeze in a laptop and one medium sized textbook. If you're looking for a backpack to carry more items like me on top of your lunch, this is not the backpack for you.
I just bought this backpack today, and I already love it! I've never had a backpack fit so well. I went in wanting to get a Jansport and walked out with The North Face Isabella. I recently started to commute by bike for my summer classes (only 2-3 miles away from campus), so I needed something to hold my essentials (change of clothes, food, water, wallet, etc.) and not be bulky. The Isabella's internal dividers were more than able to accommodate my belongings, and the bag still felt reasonably light and very comfortable on my ride home! Very cute at the same time!
I am trying to get a backpack for my college student because he wanted a northface backpack. Is this a fit one? And does it happen to have a separate pocket or space for laptops?
I got this backpack right before starting college. I found that it is not the largest backpack out there but I don't carry a lot with me to class so it is perfect. I found that a few notebooks and maybe two books is all that it can handle. I especially love all of the different pockets for organizing. I would definitely recommend this backpack if you are not looking to carry much with you.
So I ordered the backpack on BackCountry.com. They processed the order and shipped it out so fast, I was extremely surprised and pleased. I got the backpack and immediately filled it with my stuff. You can seriously fit a lot into that tiny thing. I am able to fit ALL my school books and my netbook in there with no problem. It does get a little heavy, but other than that I have no problem zipping it up. And I always seem to have space above all my books, so I'm able to take a snack with me without worrying about it being crushed. The front pocket is also spacious. It's deep, so things end up colliding all on the bottom, but it's no problem. I'm really happy with my choice. Other people's reviews were implying that it's not big enough but it works and blah blah blah... It's big enough. By the backpack description you can tell that you're not going to be packing camping gear in this thing... It's a school bag and it serves its purpose quite well. Like I said, I'm totally pleased (and the blue color is really nice!) and would definitely recommend this bag to others.
I have had my Isabella for about 5 years and absolutely LOVE it! I use it for school (college), work, traveling, day to day- everything. The fit is great. I am 5'7" but don't have a long torso, so this fits my back like a glove. The capacity is perfect too. I can cram it with stuff and it's not too heavy. I don't like huge backpacks that make me feel like I am going to fall backwards. Another great aspect is the padded straps and back piece. It molds right to my back instead of sagging, and I never feel things poke through like in cheap packs.
I am in the military and will be purchasing a black one very soon for use while in uniform. My grey one has held up very well. The only thing that didn't was the carry strap. I have had each side fixed locally, but when I get my black one, I'll take advantage of the warranty and let TNF fix it.
Couldn't be happier with it though. I am truly in love. Buy one (or two) and you will be too.
Does Isabella have a pocket for a 13 inch laptop (thin)? I understand it does not have a full-blown padded laptop compartment. Just wonder if it has just a pocket or something that is big enough to at least let me put the laptop in. Thanks
Hey Jen, Yeah this is definitely big enough to have your lap top in it. There are a few pockets on the inside and you might be able to toss it in one of those if its not too wide, but you can definitely get a lap top in there.
This backpack is great! As a short girl (5'2") and a grad student, I don't need to carry much at one time, so the Isabella is the perfect size for me. I can even fit my 14" laptop in it (inside of a laptop sleeve) and still have room for a couple of little books. The organization is great, it's really sturdy, and and carries weight evenly. All in all, super backpack!
*for all those who are afraid it might be too small, pay attention to what you are purchasing. Go to a store, and look at any backpack that is 1200cu in before you make a decision. I assume most of the people who say the pack is too small were not aware of what backpack size is comparable to. Also, the water bottle pockets do not fit the normal Nalgene diameter. I went out and bought a Sigg and it fits great though!
I wanted something that was small, fit well(let's face it most backpacks aren't meant for girls) and that would hold a lot of stuff while traveling through Japan(day trips every day) for 2 weeks. This little pack was just the ticket! For the flight over it held: 1 change of clothes, an old school 35mm camera and film, a mini laptop, 2 bottles of water, snacks and a few other misc items. Throughout the trip we used it as our day pack for water, snacks and items we purchased during the day--it was perfect! For such a tiny bag it really does fit a lot! I was a little worried about the color(I got the white one) but after 2 weeks being used every day it still looks brand new--perfect for what I needed-performed beautifully and no neck aches at the end of the day from improper fit!(I am a 5.5 ft girl)
A lot of the reviewers say that they love this b/c it fits petite women so well. I do have a short torso, but I'm 5'7" and a little on the chunky side. :o( Would this bag look ridiculous on me, or be ridiculously uncomfortable? I'm a 14/16. Thanks!
I love this little pack although it has so many pockets it doesn't feel so little. I am 5'10 and it fits me like a glove and totally comfortable loaded or mostly empty. I bought this for a 3 week Caribbean island hopping adventure. It worked great. I only wish the mesh pockets on the side expanded a little more to hold a nalgene bottle but other wise great! Worked for hiking Mt. Scenery on Saba, Mt. Qua Qua in Grenada and as a carry-on and beach bagI use everyday when biking to the gym!!
I just started high school and so far, this is a great backpack for me! I can fit 2 good sized textbooks, a 1 1/2 inch binder and about 2 notebooks/folders. Somedays I do wish it was a bit larger..but otherwise, this is a great purchase!!
It most definitely would, if you're commuting on a bike or running you may want to make sure your yoga mat has a compression strap of it's own though. Happy stretching.
Everything works well with my typical day activities with this backpack. Great backpack for a day hiking. It has many pockets for different things Although it is very small for a school backpack, I tried to put one regular sized binder and one textbook and a note, and it is already fully packed. great Overall.
I bought the white and tan North Face Isabella Backpack and it's fabulous. It's a nice medium sized backpack that seems to have a lot of room for its size. Very sturdy durable back panel and comfortable straps, convenient pocket separations and bungee cord on the front of the pack for whatever you need. I have a camelback water bottle that fits nicely into the side bottle holders. I love this pack for casual cycling around town and for carrying school books.
Have this in the white and red color. I really like the organizer pockets and the pocket for the laptop. Not a pack you'd want to take camping, but great for day trips.
I was wondering if anyone bought the moonlight ivory color for this backpack. I've been noticing two pictures of it floating around on different websites, one w/ black straps and another one with white. So which one is it?!
I was looking for a backpack to replace the gigantic L.L. Bean one that has served me for a few years. It was most important to me to have a pack that would lie flat on my back--especially if it was not very full. This bag totally fits the bill. It has a slim profile and is the perfect size for a smaller framed woman. I actually was quite impressed with what it can hold, as some of the reviews made me nervous it would be too small. But, I can fit a pair of shoes, a lunch, a change of clothes, a few magazines, an umbrella, a water bottle, and tons of personal items without feeling weighed down. Great for biking, walking, just about anything! (And the gray/pink combo is feminine without being obnoxious.)
I love this, it's the perfect sie to carry from class-to-class, and it's extremely comfortable. I got it for Christmas last year, and I couldn't have asked for a more suitable backpack!
Great backpack overall-lots of organization pockets, comfortable padded contoured shoulder straps and back, nice fit to body. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the adjustable part of the straps; they tend to slip out of place as I take it on and off throughout the day (maybe because they are so narrow?)- I have to continually adjust them. Other than that, really nice backpack.
The Isabella is very comfortable and contours wonderfully to my 5'3" frame. Unfortunately, it wasn't large enough to hold my Dell Inspiron 600m, esp. when I used the Jansport laptop sleeve that came free with the bag. I could easily fit two large textbooks in the Isabella, but not if I put my laptop in it also. Long story short - it's great for a few textbooks and going about town, but not if you've got some mega books and a laptop to carry around.
I absolutely love this backpack. As a full time student, I went through a couple backpacks to find what I liked and this one is perfect. It holds a lot despite its petite size, and it has all the perfect organizer pockets for schoolstuff like pens, calculators and disks. Also it is really comfortable on the back, and quite stylish.
do you think id be able to carry this around high school?i have 4 binders that bend and arent hard like normal ones, 2 spirals that i dont know if ill use yet and then just the regular school stuff. i like this pack the best but i dont know if i should go bigger
I bought this in white and red on sale last year and LOVE IT. It's my go-to hiking pack and it is large enough to carry everything you need for a weekend trip as long as you pack lightly. The organizer pockets inside are a VERY nice addition and while there isn't a padded pocket for a laptop, there is a net pocket across the entire front-interior of the pack for holding items of different sizes snugly into place. I usually keep my insect repellant in that area. The front zip pocket, while small, will hold a small first aid kit and thats just what I use it for. The middle zipper (between the main compartment and small front zipper) is also compartmentalized and has a place for keys, change, etc. While somewhat smaller than the male packs (ie: heckler), this will carry everything you need and look cute doing it!
After owning many packs that never fit or worked well, the Isabella is the perfect pack for a woman! Just the right size, fit and weight. Plenty roomy for long day hikes, yet not too large for lighter uses. I first ordered the Slingshot Backpack, its too big. This has most of the same features except that the water bottle holders are smaller and do not hold the standard Nalgene bottles. If you are shopping for a pack, go no further than the Isabella! The sage green/black is gorgeous!
I thoroughly enjoy my pack, as I do not feel as if I can overload it, as I have a tendency to do. It is comfortable, though I somewhat wish that the waist belt were thicker, for I feel as it would be of more use that way. All in all, I like it.
My new women's Isabella Backpack is perfect for me. I commute via train/bike/bus to work and it is small, lightweight and holds everything I need in an organized fashion.
This backpack is perfect for the college campus, and even though it doesn't have a laptop sleeve built into it, you can still slide a small 12in laptop in one of its file sleeves! Its a great pack and it was just what I needed!
Being almost 6 feet tall, I wasn't sure if this backpack would be big enough for me, but it fits well and doesn't look too small. I can easily fit my Dell Inspiron 600m inside, along with other small items. This backpack is ideal for a light load or just around campusdon't plan on storing much more than is needed for say, an overnighter. Overall, a nice sturdy backpack and a good deal for the money.
3 in total. First, a very small front pocket, can be used for quick grab items. Second, a middle or second zipper area with organizer type stuff, pens, key chain, 2 velcro pockets and few other pockets. And finally, the main guy with a mesh internal zipper pocket, 2 separate pockets, I used for magazines, papers and a 3rd pocket backing to the middle sized section that uses a quick release buckle. I need to post a picture for you
Its not big enough that you can carry along all your dozen textbooks, but big enough to carry the ones you need. I carry my big orange file and a >1000 pages thick text plus my wallet, cell, etc. It has a lot of dividers to organize your stuff. All in all, somebody who is looking for a compact but spacious backpack will like this one. I think a big laptop won't fit in it but the smaller 10.4" one's will. Hope this was useful.
I have gone through several backpacks that felt too big (I am tall, but have a small frame) and were uncomfortable. I bought this one based on the reviews posted here, and I am glad I did. This backpack is on the small side, as the others said, but I find it holds what I need for school. It just feels like part of my bodyno straps cutting into me or shifting of the contents to put me off balance. My back is so much happier. Plus, it is a very well-made pack. I know it will last for years to come.
This backpack is perfect for a small girl like me who's only 5'1. Its made to fit a woman's body and that's exactly what it does. Fits great, looks great, great backpack!
I love my North Face Isabella backpack. It is the perfect size for what I was looking to put into it. I love The North face and all the other packs were either too big or too small. This was just the right size. Your site was the only one who still had any in stock.
I'm absolutely thrilled with this purchase. I was an owner of Jansport for many, many years (From high school to college), and of course, Jansport makes great backpacks that last a long time. In fact, mine lasted nearly eight years and is still in great condition without a single rip or tear. However, I was getting a little tired of the typical Jansport Classic look and wanted something a little more stylish and different for graduate school. First, I purchased the Jansport Wasabi from this site due to its cute colors, stylish design, and affordable price. It was a great backpack, but it was too big for my current needs. Too long, bulky, and big on my back. I'm a 5'4 female with a petite frame and I definitely didn't want to carry a load that was too big. I returned the Jansport and after hours of research on the internet, I finally decided on the Isabella. This one, I absolutely LOVE. I was a little worried that it may be too small but no, its great for my notebook, textbook, as well as few paperbacks. Despite its smaller size, it is able to fit a lot of books. I can even fit two paper backs in the front compartment! I love the colors, the sleek design, and the size that flatters a smaller female body. This is definitely the perfect backpack for any females that want a backpack that will carry all their school necessities (Even work and baby things) without too much extra space. Perfect for daily use. I feel that this backpack will fit any small to medium sized females up to 5'6 or 5'7 without a problem. This one is more pricey than other backpacks, but I'm still glad I decided to invest an extra 20-30 dollars for this one because I know it'll last me a long time. Plus, I love its design and sizeit was definitely worth it.
I'm a small female (5'3" slim). I'm looking for a laptop bag that's similar in size to the Isabella or slightly bigger (1200-1500 cu. in.) and weigh less than 2 pounds. My laptop is 12" wide-screen. I recently bought the Dakine Jewel but it seems too big on me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I love this backpack. I'm 5'2" and it fits me perfectly. I can fit 2 1" binders, a textbook, and my sweater with room to spare. It is also very comfortable with lots of padding in the back.
I was so excited to receive my Isabella (North Face- pink/grey) back pack. It is so cute! :) I can't wait to use it, it's the perfect size for all the stuff I need for my classes. Thanks for the Great business......Will definitely do business with this site :) ~Kyri Meyers~
This'll work fine, as will tons of others from North Face, Dakine, Kelty, Columbia, dozens of brands. Did you need something in particular?_____________________________________________________________________If it's just for school, we carry a selection of Jansport backpacks. I bought the Jansport Wasabi backpack for my sister for the holidays(she is still in school) and before wrapping it I checked it out... I got to say it's pretty sharp and it's currently on sale.http://www.backcountry.com/store/JAN0331/JanSport-Wasabi-Backpack-1800cu-in.htmlHere is the URL for our school backpack section:http://www.backcountry.com/store/group/100000030/School-Backpacks.html
We purchased the Isabella for a school back pack - it was way too small for that purpose - we returned it for a Mentor and are perfectly thrilled with the room that pack offers
This pack greatly reduced the amount of weight on my back. Not only is it cute, it is great for a student. It can expand to hold big trapper keepers and books as well, but still keeps the weight off. This is definitely designed for people with heavy loads. I am a college student, so my load can be very large at times and I was starting to have back pains from my oversized pack--but this pack can handle large loads without putting all of the weight directly on the back. It's cute too.
My daughter is going to be a sophomore in high school she is pretty small but she has to carry alot for example 3 1 inch binders and 2 text books and lunch their are mixed reviews will this be big enough?
I use this backpack for school. It's smaller than most backpacks, and probably doesn't have as much room as others, but I can still pack in everything I need - including an ultra-portable laptop. There's a lot of intuitive compartments to stick your small stuff in too. With all the stuff I cram in there, it gets pretty heavy, but it's extremely comfortable to carry on your back. It's like ergonomically correct or something like that. I can trek across campus and not have the same problems that I would have with other backpacks I've used before. And of course, since it's The North Face brand, it's well-made, and I really doubt it will fall apart on me no matter how much stuff is in it or how long it hangs on my back. I highly recommend it for students with small laptops - 12" or smaller.
Hi--is there a way to fit a laptop in it? regular 14" laptop- does it go in the main compartment and would need a separate sleeve or does it have a separate compartment (doesnt have to be padded) that is big enough to fit it? thanks
I use mine and I'm in high school, I've never bothered putting binders in my backpack, I always have an extra bag for that. And if I have multiple textbooks, I put those in the bag I always keep with as well, just because I hate having all that weight on my back. But I love it, it's SO comfortable and light, the back padding is foamy and soft, and there's never too much strain on my back with this!
I was very excited when I got my new item. It fits everything I need for school. I removed the waist strap though because I have no use for it. The color isn't the shade I expected it to be, but I like it better the way it is. Very comfortable too...
This purchase was for my daughter who is a senior in high school. She needed a backpack to last her thru college. She did all the research, made a wise choice and I of course provided the funds which I was glad to do. She loves it!
I love the fit of this bag. The straps are designed to fit a womens figure comfortably. The side pockets require bottles lesser in diameter than a 32oz Nalgene. As for laptop computers, the backpack can fit a laptop, at the expense of adding other items, and risking possible damage due to the lack of protection.
This backpack is the best I've ever had.. It fits my small frame very well, and holds a tremendous amount of heavy textbooks. Also, no matter how much I put in it, there is almost no strain on my back. It was a great investment.
Perfect for college! Holds a fair amount of books, etc. Very comfortable even when loaded down. Great backpack, great service. Would purchase again. Thanks!
this is the perfect size for some books, a notebook or two, all your personal stuff (phone, ipod, cosmetics, etc.) plus water and snacks. a laptop also fits nicely and is well-protected. looks SNAZZY, and holds a LOT for its size - a SUPER pack!
I am a petite gal (5'2" and 100 lbs) with very narrow shoulders. I cannot wear "regular size" backpacks because the straps slip off my shoulders and pin my arms backwards---really painful, and you feel like you're going to tip over! This pack has a smaller shoulder harness that fits fantastically on a petite figure. My only complaint is that it does not hold a lot of stuff. OK, so maybe a 100 lb girl shouldn't be carrying anything too heavy, but when I go on day hikes I don't have quite enough room for all my gear. The water bottle pocket is small and won't hold bigger bottles, which is also aggravating. However since it's the only backpack I've ever found that actually FITS me, I'll give up the extra space for comfort.
I didn't realize how small it was when I ordered it, when the backpack arrived at my house I was tempted to give it to my 7 year old neighbor. It's really small. But I love the coloring and the style, it just doesn't have enough space.
The Isabella is a cute book bag and it gets the job done. As a Teenage girl i like my bags to be small so i look cute and dainty and this book bag does just with the added surprise of being able to carry all my books which is why i give the Isabella a 5.
I got this bookbag for my gf and she loves it. It fits her fine shes 4' 11" and the bookbag fits all her school materials in it. Also plenty of more...
