If you're looking for an insulated jacket that won't become worthless once it starts to snow on the slopes, grab The North Face Girls' Insulated Punky Jacket. Waterproof breathable HyVent fabric and fully taped seams block moisture so your girl won't be stuck in the lodge during snow dumps. A printed nylon taffeta lining helps prevent sleeve bunching when your girl layers a ski-underwear shirt under The North Face Punky, and the hood, powder skirt, and hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs stop wetness at all jacket entrances.
The insulation is listed as heatseeker. What exactly is this material? I'm looking for a jacket my daughter can wear to school. They go outside for recess until it drops to 0 degrees. Will this jacket work?
Hi Jen - This is a proprietary North Face synthetic fill - similar to something like Primaloft or Thinsulate. This jacket has a 100 gram insulation package which seems fine for the application that you describe, but if you are worried about your daughter staying warm, there are many other North Face jackets on the Backcountry site that have 200 grams is insulation or more (Blizzard, Shades Away), or you could look at one of the down jackets (Nuptse, Aconcagua, Moondoggie) which are all going to be very warm for just about any winter conditions. Hope this helps-
I have just received my North Face Insulated Girls' Punky Jacket from my order back backcountry. No doubt i havent the chance to try the power of it, i'd definitely have to say its very well made and fits well. I'm 23, 5"3 and weigh about 49kgs, i got the black L size. Its a great advantage for me that i am able to fit in a girl's jacket and save $$ instead of goin for the women's XS and paying another 50% more. Not a doubt, i don't even see this model in the adults' range. In fact, i don't see this as a popular jacket as compared to the Nuptse or Denali but still i was attracted to the unique design. So..it'd only be till next month when i take a holiday trip to Korea for winter that i'd get to see if the insulation works in the ski slopes. I'd be glad to help out anyone else to set hands on this great looking gem.

This jacket does not have interior zippers or loops to accommodate a liner. Usually only shell-style jackets are zip-in compatible (see TNF "Off Limits" and "Kira" jackets).
