Waterproofing is very important, but sometimes you crave built-in insulation as well. Because hey, even tough mountain ladies feel cold pretty much all the time--it’s how we’re made. The North Face Women’s Inlux Insulated Jacket addresses this need with a tough snow-shedding shell, synthetic Heatseeker insulation, and a super-fluffy fleece backing on the collar and torso. Sealed seams, underarm vents, and handy pockets add practical performance. So when your ever-warm brothers want to take a few more laps at the end of an icy ski day, go ahead and enthusiastically join them. You may even stay out after they finally do go inside.
I researched this coat for two months as well as where to buy it because I was buying it as a Christmas present for my college student who goes to school in PA where it is very cold. I wasn't sure whether to get the medium or small --as others have said in their reviews that it runs small, so I went with the medium and with Backcountry (because of their amazing return policy). Well, she loved the coat, but turns out it was a little big. (So I actually think it runs true to size as she is a small) We bought a small and returned the medium, NO PROBLEM, they even issued me a free return label and credited me immediately!!! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE with this company, I was very impressed and EVERYONE we talked with online and over the phone was exceptionally nice to us!!! I will definitely buy from this company again. The coat has turned out to be exactly what my daughter needed.....it is very warm while not too bulky and looks stylish (not like a marshmallow coat)! She is happy, so I am happy. You get what you pay for with North Face and with BackCountry you are treated wonderfully!! Very satisfied on both accounts!
This is an awesome jacket. It is lightweight wtih the coziest fleece lining. The denim blue color is very nice. It is a good chcoice for people like me who are allergic to down.
I'm 5'7'', skinny, and have a long torso, I have a North Face Rain Coat in a small but it is just barely short. Should I get the Inlux in a small or bump up to a medium?
I prefer to size up if I'm not sure, especially on jackets and insulating layers. Sizing up leaves no doubt that you'll get full coverage and allows for a wider variety of layering options if the weather turns sour.
I love this jacket! I live in Alaska where the temp is often well below zero, and I haven't been cold yet in this thing! I was expecting to need another insulated layer under the jacket in order to stay warm- but so far I haven't needed anything else! I think it's even warmer than TNF Tri-Climate jacket that I have- it's great!!My only complaint was that one of the front pocket zippers pulled out of the seam, but I exchanged it and so far so good with this jacket.

This jacket was my first purchase from the North Face and I had high hopes for it. While the jacket is intended for skiing and snowboarding, I bought it for casual use. I wanted a jacket that has a hood and is waterproof. Unfortunately it has not been warm enough in winter time. I live in the Washington DC area and needed a good coat for when I walk my children to the bus stop at 7:30am, rain or shine (15 or so minutes out in the cold walking and standing in 30 degree +/- weather). The Inlux has not been warm enough even with a sweater underneath. You will need to layer with a good fleece jacket like the Denali to stay warm. The ink blue color and fit are nice. The jacket is slightly fitted in the waist for a more feminine look. Shorter length (intended for better movement while skiing I assume). The collar is very stiff (due to the waterproof fabric) and it's hard to figure out what to do with it--it just doesn't lay nicely. I am hoping I can use this jacket in the late fall, early spring time of year, however the furry collar that covers your face when zipped all the way up makes it look like the jacket is intended for near-blizzard conditions. In the end, I went out and bought a Michael Kors down filled longer coat which works better for me (I needed something warm I can put on quickly without having to deal with layering). In the future, I will stick to the casual line of coats from the North Face. FIT: I'm 5'6" 145 lbs. After trying out several coats at TNF store, I find that I need size M in shorter jackets like the Inlux or the Redpoint, size S in longer down coats like the Metropolis, and either size S or M in the boxy fleece jackets like the Denali.
Whether it is form flattering will depend on your form. If you are actually 5' 0" and weigh 1000 pounds (and that's not just a typo), then there is very little that will flatter your form.
Really nice jacket. Sort of dressy. Soft silky fleece lining, but NOT WARM at all. One thin outer shell is all it is. I got a MUCH warmer jacket (Columbia Revibe) for the SAME PRICE. If you dont care about the name, think twice about North face. Other companies have just as nice and better coats at much more reasonable prices.
I have to disagree with this, because this is the warmest jacket that I have ever owned and i have owned several Columbia jackets that have been the 3-in-1. I live in PA where the winters can get cold and this jacket has kept me toasty warm, without being too bulky.
