Zip up The North Face Men’s Inlux Insulated Jacket for those especially chilly days on the mountain. The HyVent 2L won’t leave you sopping wet when you dive into the freshly fallen pow, and the Heatseeker insulation keeps you toasty when the wind picks up. Open up the under arm zippers to dump excess heat when you work up a sweat, and stash your celly, ski pass, and MP3 in the multiple storage pockets for safe-keeping.
Bottom Line: Stay warm and dry in the winter slop.
It is perfect for when its way cold outside, I like it for winter days in the sierras. It is so convenient being able to wear just one jacket when you know that it is going to be really cold all day.

Great jacket. I had abandoned TNF a while ago and switched to Marmot because it got too popular. But as winter progressed, I realized I needed a warm, waterproof, breathable jacket with a hood that wasn't too expensive. Patagonia prices are a joke and Marmot just didn't have exactly what I was looking for (I was 2 seconds away from buying a Marmot Ellsworth jacket and realized I hated the look). Enter TNF with their excellent synthetic insulated ski style shells. This one stood out with its excellent $199 price. I was skeptical about the 80g heatseeker because all my other frigid weather jackets were either down or 3 in 1 components/triclimates but I can tell you it does not disappoint. The jacket's style is simple which is nice. Fairly windproof, definitely water proof and the slash pocket comes in handy more than I thought it would. Classic TNF product. If you don't care about wearing what everyone else is and want to be warm and dry without the goofy down style or bulky 3 in 1s, buy this.
Hi what can I wear underneath this jacket in the winter? Will a fleece sweater work?I live in Vancouver B.C. we get a lot of rain and in the winter in can get around -5celcius or so.
Fleece is a good choice. Merino wool base or midlayers will be a good choice, as well. Synthetic layers will work, but start to stink pretty fast, usually.
From other testimonies I thought this jacket was going to be thicker, warmer insulation. This is a very thin jacket. I don't know where Lebron lives but in central IL it has been in the single digits and this wouldn't do on it's own. I would like if this was more like 120g and zip in compatible. If I could zip in the redpoint it would be very warm. I can still layer it, so I might keep it. Maybe those who don't get cold as easy as I do, it would be ok, but this is very thin. 5'10" 145lbs Med fit good, room for layering, no problems with tightness in armpit area as I had with the NF triclimate jackets. I could probably fit a small but might not allow for layers. Hope this helps. BC customer service is awesome, many returns for wrong sz and bad fitting jackets. I had to pay for return shipping but I understand. Thanks BC!
No, but the 80g Heatseeker is all you will ever need. If you need more warmth, make sure you buy the jacket the right size that will allow for basic hoody/sweater layering.
I bought this jacket for my son for Christmas and he loves it, i tkeeps heim real warm and he wears it almost everyday. I would recommend this jacket to anyone that lives in a cold weather climate likeCT.
How warm is this jacket? My brother is finishing chemo/radiation and headed back to work as a truck driver cross country. I want to get him something that will keep him really warm because his immune system is gone. I need it to cover his head as well due to high winds in some places.
Hi - For an everyday jacket to keep your brother warm, I would probably steer you toward a down jacket. They are so much more comfortable, really easy to get on and off, and very warm. Here are a couple of recommendations: -North Face Tahoe Down Hooded -North Face Prism Optimus Down Jacket
The Prism might be a little overkill because it is more of a technical jacket, but either one will keep him very warm and comfortable. Hope this helps-
I think you are going to find this jacket too heavy for those types of applications. Typically people are going to stay away from fixed insulation pieces like this for backpacking, because it will be too warm. If you want something for backpacking and mountaineering, I think you are going to want to find a good shell that you can layer with if you plan on using in colder and warmer conditions like it sounds you are. Here are a few suggestions: 1. North Face Serac (stretch Gore pac lite) 2. North Face Mammatus Jacket (Gore Pro) 3. North Face Heathen Jacket (Gore Pro) 4. North Face On Site Jacket (Hyvent DT)
