Weekend Warrior

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this bag the past weekend in very cold temperatures and loved it! Not only does it keep you warm.. but it is super light and rolls down small if you do it right! Definitely a good investment for cold winter camping.

North Face Dark Star -40.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great bag - thin cut. If your over 6ft go for the extra length. One flaw is the zipper - it leaks cold air and the inner bevels don't prevent the leakage hitch at minus 40 can be very dangerous. Last addition that north face missed was the silk and mesh breath screen to stop your nose being totally exposed.

Never got cold

I was in the Alaska Range and at Denali base camp with temps at night consistently around -40 or colder and I NEVER got cold, which is saying something because I am usually cold at night. Other people with -40 bags said they were cold,so this bag really works. It compresses really well and dries quick. If you sleep cold or are looking to go to somewhere that's COLD, I highly recommend this bag.

So comfy, cosy and warm!

This sleeping bag is amazing. Used it for month-long trip to the north of Russia in February and never needed to turn car engine on during very cold winter nights. It's also very soft and comfortable. And compresses very well too. Def recomended!
