The North Face Hydrogen Jacket - Men's - 2009 BCS

This thing weighs nothing, compresses down to the size of a ping-pong ball, yet somehow manages to provide an astonishing level of wind and moisture protection, and is not the least bit fragile. I have several of them, and stuff one in my pocket or pack if there is even a chance I might need this bit of gossamer magic.

This is my go to jacket for hiking year round, sunny warm ski days, running, and biking. Fairly wind resistant and fairly breathable, wicked light, AND mosquito proof!

As like all north face products, the aesthetics for this jacket is great! The only problem I have with this jacket is that it doesn't have a hood. A little unsure about its wind blocking capabilities as well but is definitely water resistant. Water just beads off the surface. The only downside is that the rubberized cuffs will get wet and takes awhile to dry off but it ain't too much of a problem. Material wise, its really thin and can be packed anywhere!

This TNF Hydrogen shell is so light weight and it scrunches up so small that I don't think twice about taking it with me when climbing in the mountains (you can stuff it in the smallest of camelbaks). If you don't need it, you don't know it's there. When the temperature drops and the wind picks up, it's real handy. The rest of the time I leave my hydrogen shell in my golf bag for the same reasons.
