The North Face Horizon Women’s Convertible Pant keeps you cool and covered when you’re hiking along the Na Pali Coast. This lightweight convertible pant zips off into long shorts when you need to dip your feet in the waterfall pools, and the fabric dries quickly if you decide to go for total submersion. Snaps at the leg opening slide over your hiking boots, and cargo pockets stash your camera and sunscreen.
Bottom Line: Versatile pant for unpredictable hikers.
I was wanting some convertible pants to wear for a trip to Zion & Bryce Canyon where we were going to do some (casual) hiking. So I bought a pair of these and also the very similar Horizon Valley pants so I could test them out for a few weeks beforehand. I really liked the fabric and the fit in general (I'm 5'6" around 140# and chose the Medium/Short version), but the elastic on either side of the back of the waistband was irritating to me, especially since there was only one belt loop in back and then two loops on the sides positioned slighty to the rear and it caused the elastic waistband to fall below the level of my belt and dig into my flanks. If there were another set of belt loops right in the area of the elastic, maybe that would have helped, but they just didn't work for me so I returned them. Also, since I usually carry a lot of stuff in my cargo pockets, it would have been helpful for them to have some hook & loop closures on them, but as they were, it was just a sewn flap. I did find the convertible function to work well and liked that the zippers were color-coded so you didn't have to guess which leg went back where. I guess I'll try some other convertible pants!
Love these pants haven't used them as shorts yet but can't wiat. I would wear these everyday if I could. The shorts go just below the knee which i love and have a hard time finding shorts that go that low. The material os great breaths well and is very comfy. If your gonna be outside year around the pant is one you want to have!

I just bought these. They are awesome. Low rise, cute style, tonight I wore them for a casual din part as the long short/capri. Looking forward to zippin on the legs for some backcountry cool weather!
This is my second pair. I like the shorts length, they hit me at bottom of knee cap. I wore these almost every day on a recent trip to Israel. They shorts were great for warm days and hiking. When we visited a religious site where more modest clothing was required, I just zipped on the bottoms. Perfect! Well-made and comfortable too.
Can anyone comment on size Small vs. size Medium in these? Im definitely not a Small according to the size chart, but the butt on the Medium is way too baggy for me. Its not a problem I usually have.
I want a pants to tie at the waist. I do not want a hipster as it most uncomfortable for hiking. What is the length of the shorts part of the pants please.
The pants definitely dried up quick. I'm 5'6 and when I zipped off the legs of the pants it went just a TINY bit past the knee.. I like. It is lightweight and pretty comfortable. Wish it had more pockets.
Didn't like the waistband though. It's cinched partially at the back, room for it to expand. The way I see it is, if I wanted pants in a bigger size, I would have bought it in a bigger size. I was able to pull the pants off WITHOUT releasing the snap button (It was an extra small). So, during the hike I didn't put anything heavy in the pockets except my camera so I won't have to weigh it down.. which negates the pockets. Also wish the pants had belt loops for that very problem too.
I purchased these pants and the The North Face Horizon Utility Pant's at the same time. I like both pants. There are great as you can zip off the bottoms and make them knee length shorts. The fabric is a good weight for summer and I really like the fact that they can be shorts or pants. If I only purchased one pair I would get the Horizon Utility Pants by a nose.
