Lightweight treks into the backcountry don't always require huge hiking boots. As a matter of fact, when you're carrying a light load, big, burly boots can be more problematic than helpful. The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR III Shoe is flexible and comfortable like a shoe but features a Vibram outsole and a ultra-plush midsole to tackle gnarly terrain.

A great shoe for pre-teen boy

I purchased these shoes for my twelve-year-old. The sizing seemed about accurate. At the price they were being offered at Backcountry.com, they are a terrific value.
My son has been wearing them for about a month, now, and they are holding up really well! The construction is very sturdy, and he finds the shoes comfortable. He wears them daily for biking, hiking, and running. I would highly recommend these shoes for anyone with active boys who is looking for something will stand up well to wear. We are extremely satisfied.

This shoe fit nicely on my wide foot, even though i could not buy it in a wide(i dont think they make them?), walked around in them all day today, felt great. Fit true to size as I usually order a 10 1/2
