Description

All together now: Who’s your dad-dy? Clap-clap-clapclapclap.

All work and no play makes Jack or Jill a dull student, so put down your The North Face Heckler Backpack, paint your face in school colors, and head out to the game to get a little crazy. You’ve earned a break after carrying around your pack bursting with your 15-inch laptop (on which you’ve researched embarrassing taunts for opposing players), a couple of textbooks, a change of clothes for the gym, and a ton of little things you’ve squirreled into the myriad of pockets. Good thing the Heckler uses BackSaver technology to intelligently distribute that load as well as generously padded straps to make all that toting a little easier. You need all the energy you can get for a long game while on your feet.
  • Secondary organizer compartment keeps your electronics and other essentials in their places
  • Pack’s hydration port lets you turn your laptop sleeve into a water bladder pocket
  • Side stretch pockets carry your water bottles or other beverages
  • Front stash pocket with audio port keeps your tunes in easy reach
  • Removable waist-belt keeps pack from bouncing around when you’re bounding out of class to catch the tip-off
  • Front bungee shock cords hold overflow items like a jacket

Love this backpack

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a really sweet backpack, nice looking, nice space and nice price! The only downside I see if the waist buckle, which is not of the soft kind so it feels awkward, wish it had the softer ones, but not an issue if you are not carrying a lot of weight.

Sounds like this is a great bag with enough room for books, notebooks, laptop, and a change of clothes (biking to school so that is a must). I'm sure it isn't waterproof but does it at least keep everything from getting soaked if I get caught in a downpour on the way to campus?

Responded on

By the reviews I have read, it's pretty sturdy and handles spills well. Spraying it down with camp-dry or a similar fabric waterproofing spray will make sure your goods stay dry.

Great pack

Nice medium size bag. Fits under the airplane seat. Great for a carry on bag for travel.

Couldn't be happier

I bike to class/work everyday and it has held up great. I bring 3 large geography textbooks, 13" laptop, a 2" binder, change of clothes, a small lunch pretty much everyday to class and I have plenty of room. It is very comfortable on the back as well. The price is great for the amount of space and comfort. It has been one of my better purchases of 2012.

Hey, I am also a college student and am looking for a good pack. I live a little over 30 miles (one way) from campus but due to high gas prices am considering driving halfway, then parking and riding my bike the last half. So room for books, notebooks, laptap and change of clothes is a must but is this pack pretty rain resistant? Don't want to get caught in a downpour and everything get soaked.

I am going to be attending college in the fall in the Appalachian mountains. So, I need a bookbag that can resist a lot of snowfall and rain, while protecting my laptop and papers in my bag. Will this one do the job?

Responded on

I don't know much about this pack but I live in utah and we get a lot of snow, and I usd the Dakine mission and it never leaked.

GET IT!

A couple years ago I got a backpack for school. I spilled apple juice all over it, dragged it on the way home from school and slammed it onto the ground like 100 times every day. It was really cool. I still have that backpack after I moved from New York to Kentucky and it STILL worked you can over stuff this bag a little which is good if you want to hike, the bag isn't HUGE but it can carry a lot of stuff. I still have that backpack today, but I can't take it to school anymore because it is getting a little too small for my metal lunchbox. (metal lunch boxes to keep the squirrels away). This backpack feels great on your shoulders if you have pain there and your kid will love this backpack. If your kid is a girl get her one from the women's section though because those are for narrower shoulders and help them carry there backpack better

What is the outside length of pack? Will it fit under airplane seat?

Responded on

Hey she3443564,

Thanks for the question. I checked on the outside length of The North Face Heckler Backpack - 2080cu in and I found that it is 20.5 inches which should fit under most airplane seats.

Would it be good for middle school?

Responded on

Going into middle school next year?(:
I use a dakine mission for middle school everyday and it has plenty of space around (it is 25L / 1500 Cubic inches) and it fits awesome

Ellie, you'll be the coolest kid in school with this pack. Plus, if it ever lets you down, Backcountry has you covered with their return policy.

Good for school, travel or easy hikes

My wife uses this as an everyday pack for work, but also takes it with us when we go hiking with the little one and need to carry snacks or diaper stuff. It has proven super durable and it's really big. So far it does exactly what you'd expect for a non-technical daypack and looks cool too.

I'm a high school senior and college is right around the corner, so i want a backpack that will last throughout the restof this year and college. I'm 5'6" and I'm debating over the Heckler or the Recon which would be a better pick?

Responded on

They'll both last. Personally, I think the Recon looks cooler, but looks are pretty much all that's going to matter. Both are quite durable.

I'm 5 ft...will this backpack be too long for me and look funny?

Best Answer Responded on

Sophie, I think you would be fine for sizing with this backpack. As for looking funny, I don't see why it would but if you are concerned you should probably look at something with less volume like the Borealis.

Excellent

Great bookbag. Had for about a month. But it is excellent. Strong. Very big pockets. I understand that this bookbag is more expensive but you are paying for quality. It will last 5 to 10 years!!

Can a North Face backpack go into the washing machine?

Responded on

Hey John, yeah if you need to!? I would try and spot clean... but if you need to run in the washer; I would run it on gentle wash cycle, cold, extra rinse, low/no spin speed, hang to dry...

Great Backpack

Ordered this for my 11th grade son. He loves this backpack. It is big enough to haul all of his high school "stuff" everyday. We have had it for 4 months now and is holding up to his everyday wear and tear perfectly!

Perfect Day Pack

This is without a doubt the best investment I have made for college (besides tuition of course). I only regret that I hadn't made this purchase sooner. The bag literally can fit everything imaginable inside. I carry three textbooks, a notebook, several folders and other items as well as a full change of clothes (Nike Shocks take up a LOT of space) and my iPad to class every day and STILL have room for more! The smaller compartment is perfect for my iPod, snacks, wallet, pens and pencils, makeup, etc. The tiny compartment at the top fits my Droid perfectly and keeps it at an easy reach. I can fit TWO water bottles in ONE holder and use the other for my rain jacket and umbrella in case of a sudden downpour. I clip my keys to one of the several loops on the front and I'm completely prepared to take on the day. I would seriously be lost without this thing. Well worth the extra cost.

Although I need a big backpack to hold all my things for school, based on other reviews I'm wondering if this one might be too big for my frame. I'm a petite college student, 5 ft 2'' and 120 lbs. Will it still look ok?

Responded on

It's a big backpack. I don't know if it would be too big, but getting close.
