Thanks to durable mini-ripstop Gore-Tex Pro Shell 3L, fast and light meet hard and core in The North Face Heathen Jacket. Engineered to provide full protection when deployed, but minimal bulk when stashed away, the sub-14-ounce Heathen is equipped with the essential features you need for rapid ascents, and nothing more. Two alpine (read: harness and waistbelt-friendly) chest pockets hold needed accessories and seal with watertight PU zips, while a fully-adjustable fixed hood and hem cinch cord stand blockade against the elements. A micro-grid woven backer wicks moisture from your midlayer, and Underarm zips dump unwanted heat when de-layering is not an option.

Bottom Line: So tough yet so light, it's blasphemous.

Great gore-tex proshell. Obviously waterproof, windproof, and fairly bratheable. Nice performance cut with enough room for layers underneath.

Sweet!

The Heathen jacket is now featured on a well mega-established, NY fashion website. It may be a Gearheads nightmare to see backcountry performance shells trickling into the fashion-mainstream. The good thing about it is, that "we" have been telling them for years about the "gear." This jacket is near perfect for radical alpine assaults. I find this jacket to be closely associated with Arc'T's, Beta SL - without the pitzips.

Can't debate this shell

I would fall into the category of critic when it comes to north face. However Summit Series gear is supreme stuff. I got this jacket a few months ago and I have been thoroughly impressed with it. It has everything you need in an alpine shell and nothing else. One of the best features is the weight. Another thing that surprised me was the zipper lamination, as far as I'm concerned North face does one of the best zipper lams on the market. This may not be the best jacket in the world, but for the price you can't argue its a keeper!
