Harper,does it job

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

It might not be the most flattering Jacket but it is not ugly at all, very serious jacket overall. Warmth: it adapts well to most Boston conditions in January. It gets too warm if you push it.

Fit is perfect for me, 6-1fit, XL.

With some changes...a great jacket!

I looked & compared a long time before buying this coat. But is was VERY hard to find any reviews anywhere!

Unfortunately, I had to return this North Face Harper Triclimate. Bummer. Inside the cuffs, there was no type of smooth inner liner at the ends of the sleeves which meant the rough wool blended exterior is also inside the sleeves. Without gloves on, the material rubbed against my wrists & back of my hands like sandpaper. Also rough against the face when collar zipped up.

Shell has a narrow repeating herringbone design that I personally did not find attractive.

I thought the two upper pockets were too high and not very practical for this type of coat.

The liner is lightweight, good fill, and great to wear by itself. Great zip pockets, Down is distributed well & stays in place. Not bulky & poofy. No issues here. Excellent mid weight liner.

The main front zipper on the shell is NOT a three way zipper. So it's NOT possible to split the zipper & open the bottom when sitting or for extra ventilation. There are no armpit zippers.

Collar is excellent,...not to high, stayed in place whether closed or open.

Testing the jacket in 40 degree weather the jacket with the liner seemed to breath well and didn't experience overheating or feeling like being in a plastic bag. Higher temps will be shell only and that's the beauty of a 3 n 1 liner zip out.

It handles lower temps below 40 easily but weather was not cold enough to test at 30 degrees or lower.

Length of the coat was perfect.

The deal breaker was really the roughness around the cuff & face, the high placement of the large chest pockets. & the lack of a 3 way front zipper.
