As the only of The North Face's Summit Series jackets to feature Gore-Tex Stretch Pro Shell, the Men's Half Dome Jacket has the muscle to easily shrug off the nastiest, gnarliest mountain weather. Not only does the body fabric boast fully waterproof breathable performance, but it has a slight stretch that allows for full mobility when you're hiking, touring, or climbing. After considering its zip venting, a close-fitting alpine cut, full seam-sealing, and an adjustable hood, we're not sure what else The North Face engineers could have added. Maybe the kitchen sink will be in next year's model?
Waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Pro Shell 3-Layer Stretch with Micro-Grid Backer Technology keeps wet weather outside your jacket and allows sweaty moisture from within to escape so you feel comfortable, not clammy
Attached hood is fully adjustable and has a shape the fits over most climbing or skiing helmets
Brushed collar lining lets you tuck your chin comfortably behind your collar when the wind kicks up
Two-way center zip lets you vent from either the top or bottom of the front opening
Underarm zip vents use PU zippers that repel moisture when closed and, when opened, allow you to vent away excess heat when your trek makes you hot under the collar
Bottom Line: Flexible weather protection for every summit bid.
This is a great jacket...of all the shells I have this is by far the most user friendly. The stretch tho minimal can be felt when really pushing it. I would say the sizing is probably one larger or roomier than same brand shells I own, but doesn't get in the way, and when layered appropriately does a great job stopping all the elements .worth adding to your backcountry pack ...
I wonder what type of cut this jacket is. Could someone tell me? Slim cut, I hope since I'm a tad bigger than a small; therefore I don't want to be lost in a medium. Also is 40D nylon is reasonably thick for Michigan with a simple fleece inside?
This is my 3rd Gore-Tex jacket. The stretch Pro Shell material is like no other Gore-Tex; it is cloth-like. I own a TNF Heathen Pro Shell Gore-Tex and 14 year-old jackets, they are both feel like you wear paper-like material. My Heathen jacket is a 20D where this is a 40D, just the right thickness so that I don't have more than a fleece under it, even during Feb month in Michigan. :) I was tormented between a green and a black. I'm glad I picked green. It is such a beautiful color. No wonder TNF picked this green as the displaying color. :) I'm 5'7", 150 lbs... I must be between a small (tight) and a medium (loose). The sleeves (Medium) are little long (all the way to 1/2 of my fingers); therefore I must use the Velcro to stop them from going pass my cuffs. My friend told me that Patagonia designs most of their sleeves a bit long for climbers, so this TNF might be the right length... who knows!!! :) Other than that I'm happy with everything else. I have many TNF and Patagonia jackets over the years, but I have a good feeling that this will be my favorite jacket for years to come. Who knows, it might outlast my first Gore-Tex jacket I bought 14 years ago from a TNF outlet. I think it was an irregular. :) BTW, Mike Throgmartin was correct... this is a athletic (slim) cut. I'm glad, otherwise it might be too roomy. :) Thank you.

My quest for a four season shell ends here. This is one of the nicest gore tex pro shells I have seen in years. I have tried and returned a lot of shells from Arcteryx, Mammut, Marmot and Patagonia. It all comes down to fit and this jacket is perfect. 5'10 and 170lbs went with a large. sleeves are just right. Fits great alone or with a down sweater underneath. Great zipper function. The main zipper is two way.Pit zips are nice and big . Perfect pockets. two hand and two chest. The jacket is light and the gore tex pro stretch fabric is supple for a pro shell. The North Face likes to change their jackets yearly. Very happy I purchased this one with gore tex pro stretch fabric.
