The North Face Grace Jacket gives your girl a stylish alternative to the typical rain coat. This jacket sports a waterproof Hyvent shell and fully taped seams to keep her dry on her way to school. The removable hood eliminates the need for an umbrella, and the belt with tie front closure and contrast seams add some extra style to this knee-length jacket. She can throw her MP3 in the internal media pocket and concentrate on her tunes instead of the incessant patter of rain on her hood.

Not really - this is more of a spring summer jacket. Here are some other insulated suggestions for you:
North Face girl's Metropolis Jacket
North Face girl's Greenland Jacket
North Face Girl's Arctic Jacket
These are all longer length like the Grace, but all have down insulation.

I needed a rain jacket for warm tropical weather and this coat has worked magically. I'm 5'2'', 110lbs., and ordered this in a Large. The fit was perfect, especially the tie-waist made this jacket form-fitting and flattering. The pearl color compliments almost every outfit. I'm ABSOLUTELY SATISFIED with this purchase and in fact, writing this review from Hanoi, where this jacket has kept me dry, cool, while looking fashionable. I'm so glad I bought this instead of shelling out $500+ for a Burberry coat. My first jacket did not work out and Backcountry was gracious, and expeditious in getting this jacket to me in time before my travel. Many thanks !!!
