Description

Unencumbered hiking.

Weighing in at about two pounds, The North Face built the Gold Kazoo 30-Degree Sleeping Bag to be your go-to bag for light-and-fast summer backpacking trips. Its lightweight down fill provides plenty of insulation your keep body warm during those cool summer nights, and you may even find it will suit your needs for late-spring and early-fall trekking.
  • The 650-fill down insulation retains your body's warmth and provides a higher warmth-to-weight ratio than any synthetic-fill insulation
  • Grey goose down in this bag is purchased from small, family-owned farms that do not live-pluck or force-feed the geese
  • Synthetic anti-compression fill is strategically located in areas where your body typically comes in contact with the ground to create more durable insulating layer and reduce heat loss
  • Vaulted footbed won't constrict your feet and helps promote circulation to your lower extremities
  • Ergonomically shaped hood provides extra comfort, improves the bag's warmth-retention, and reduces its overall weight
  • Trapezoidal-shaped baffle system ensures a consistent fill volume to reduce cold spots
  • Internal draft tube pockets keeps essentials warm and within reach

I nominate it THE down-sleeping-bag value of the year. High-quality, substantial loft, accurate temp rating, and a bargain price. The Gold Kazoo is vastly superior to the Stoic Vamp 30.

- Has two zippers on the side, one bottom one top. Top one is glow in the dark. The zippers operate very smoothly. Almost impossible to get them hung up on the inside, but they can get caught on the outside material if you are pulling at an angle.

- Drawstring cinches down easily.

- Inside and outside material is very smooth and soft. The down is very fluffy and comfortable. Fluffs up very quickly out of the stuff sack.

- With the supplied stuff sack, it compresses down to a little bit bigger then a volleyball. The adjuster are maxed out though, so I imagine you could get it a bit smaller with an aftermarket compression sack.

All in all, it seems to be a very well made bag. I generally buy stuff for the long haul, so I'm looking forward to see how it holds up over the years.
