Sticky rubber, extended ankle coverage and Gore-Tex waterproofing make The North Face Gamble Mid GTX XCR Multisport Shoe a serious contender in any condition on any surface. The Gamble hugs the ground with a low center of gravity, and supports quick lateral movement with a lace-integrated exoskeletal framework. A TPU toecap and forefoot Snake Plate protect your toes and the ball of your foot so you can keep your head up when you're covering rough ground, and a full Gore-Tex XCR insert maintains a dry, blister- and funk-free interior. As for classification, well…the Gamble Mid is your winter trail runner, your summer adventure-racing sneaker, and your every-season go-to shoe when you have no idea what the weekend will throw at you.
Bottom Line: Kick some singletrack ass in every season.
This was the first pair of shoes that I bought online without first trying them on in a store, that is how true to size North Face footwear is.
As for the shoe itself, I've got to say they are pretty awesome. I didn't have to break mine in at all. I put them on right out of the box and ran a 5k in snow/mud/cinders. My feet felt great afterward.
This was my first pair of shoes I got online and after reading other reviews the size 8.5 was just right for me when I received them. These are probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, they are so supportive and my feet feel great even after a 12 hour day walking on concrete and up and down ladders all day. Also use them hiking and the Gore-tex is great for keeping your feet dry. Only downside to them is that the loop on the top of the tongue is starting to rip slightly. But that is after nearly a year of daily usage.

The North Face Gamble is a fantastic shoe for every situation. I have used them on light hikes and late night rainy runs across campus through mud and puddles. This is a very comfortable shoe and I also wear it casually. The XCR makes it completely waterproof and combined with the mesh covering, the Gamble is completely breathable and well suited to warmer weather. I have worn these in a variety of conditions and they have never let me down. The mesh is starting to tear from excessive use and even when they fall apart from use I will be buying another pair of the Gamle to replace these excellent shoes.
The shoe seems to be great, only I have narrow feet (I usually ware Nike) and it's just too wide. I wish it fit better cuz I definitely would have kept these! These things look AWESOME.
These shoes required a brief break-in period but as they morphed to fit my feet I love them more each day. I shattered my heel several years ago and these shoes accept my orthotics and still have lots of comfotrtable room. I need the higher profile of a "mid" shoe and the Gamble Mid GTX has worked well for hiking, light backpacking, and everday use around the neighborhood. It's a little light on cushioning to be a real trail runner but it serves well there too for light duty/limited distances.
This pair is my second, sort of a spare. I want to be sure that if they're discontinued I'll still have years of comfortable walking ahead.
I love these shoes for several reasons but most of all the way they hold up from the desert of the Middle East to the moist fields of Germany. I bought the second pair in Solarium Yellow because when I order my first pair the only color which was available in Alloy Grey for my size (9.5) at that time. In short, great shoe for whatever you are doing...
I've been backpacking and hiking in a lot of different shoes now, and I've really had good luck with a variety of TNF shoes. These are just the latest in a line of very comfortable right-out-of-the-box shoes from TNF. They've been real nice for moderate hiking and backpacking trips. They're real comfortable in the office on casual Friday's too.
I got these shoes before i went on my honeymoon to Whistler. We didn't catch any freshies but we did catch an arctic weather system that brought the temp down to -11 degrees F. Needless to say my vans weren't cutting it. These shoes kept my feet warm, and the gore-tex kept them dry. They were the call from a casual stroll through the village to puddle jumping to Merlin's for an apres ski bucket of Kokanees. I have been putting them through their paces back here in Southern California as well. They do get a tad steamy for mid-afternoon runs but if you are a work-out before work kinda guy, you could do much worse than these shoes. So, f you are on the fence, just get 'em!!!
