When you don’t need or want a bulky or heavy insulated pant, deploy The North Face Women’s Freedom Low-Rise Boot-Cut Pant as your outer layer. This fully seam-sealed, waterproof breathable HyVent shell keeps you dry on big pow days without letting you overheat as you work down 1,000 feet of knee-deep vertical.

  • Low-rise boot cut is trim and athletic around the knees, flaring to a wider cuff
  • Chimney Venting system improves airflow through the pant: stretch mesh in the upper section of the leg gaiter allows cool, dry air to enter the pant and lets warm, moist air exit through upper zip vents
  • Adjustable waist tab dials in the fit
  • Articulated knees maximize your mobility
  • Gripper elastic on gaiter keeps powder out of pant, while StretchVent upper section moves with you in the bumps and park
  • Reinforced edge guard with kick patches help keep your hems from getting shredded

Bottom Line: Insulation? You don’t need no stinkin’ insulation.

Sadly didn't fit my big legs

By:
March 17, 2011

I have the insulated version of these (X L short) and also last year's model which has wider legs (L short). Gained weight and got the big ones this year but am getting back into the older ones now. In between, I tried the XL short in the new model but found the legs were much more fitted, so while the XL insulated pants were starting to swim, these were too tight. They look great but... and that's one very big butt, I guess.

FYI, I have a small waste, wider hips and pretty large thighs, your classic pear, sadly. Also I am short. Nature works in mysterious ways.

Thank you TNF for at least making a short!

Size chart for north face is not accurate. I needed the medium not the large. medium fits a little large, but I have a thin, lanky frame, so its to be expected.Anyhoo, kept me warm in 0-12 degree weather, butt got a little cold on the chairlift though. Plenty of room for base layer. durable, stylish, great for apres-ski too. Also work for building a snowman in the backyard in wet snow with the kids! Highly recommend these.I bought the insulated version. important.

Alssport.com has them on sale for $74. Google the pant name and you may find more locations. It's easy!

Flattering fit -LOVE!

By:
January 22, 2011

I just got these pants & LOVE LOVE them. I have 2 other pairs of white ski pants from Columbia that I was holding onto to see which fit best. Needless to say, the Columbia's are going back! These pants have a very flattering fit. They are slimming yet I still have room for a pair of long underwear for cold ski days. I am 5'4" and 138 lbs. These fit me well with some room for a baselayer, but not baggy. The medium was perfect for me.

I can't decide between these pants and the more expensive

I can't decide between these pants and the more expensive insulated version. I want to purchase them for ice fishing in the cold Northern MI climate. I hate wearing long underwear so would these be warm enough to wear on their own?

Not likely. I have had the North Face Freedom pant for years and I always wear underarmour pants underneath. When it is really cold out I do get cold, so if you want to stay warm without long underwear or something, I would get the insulated version.

North Face Freedom LRBC Pant-Woment's

By:

I LOVE my pants. They're perfect for a cold Montana winter's day. I had a hard time finding pants that were long enough and would still fit, so I thought I'd try these, and the fit is great! I got the small long and they're roomy enough for jeans under. Highly recommended!!

not my cup of tea

By:
December 3, 2010

Okay, I'm a tough fit, 5'3" with thunder thighs, which is why I ordered a medium short. But the short was too long & the bottoms too flared and the waist too big. Also, I do not like the shiny, noisy fabric. And I would prefer net lining to the lining these have. I just wish Patagonia still made short ski pants!
