Freedom Insulated Pant - Women's

You don’t want to wear tight ‘80s ski pants, but you don’t have to go the supersag, crotch-at-the-knees route either. The North Face made the Women’s Freedom Insulated Pant with a relaxed, contemporary fit and a roomy cut through the butt, thighs, knees, and cuffs.

  • HyVent 2L fabric and fully taped seams block wetness
  • Chimney Venting System uses exterior thigh vents and gaiter vents to create airflow and dump excess heat
  • 100%-Recycled Heatseeker Eco insulation adds warmth
  • Cargo pocket holds snacks

Bottom Line: Room to move.

Great pants

By:
June 2, 2010

got them for my girlfriend last ski season. Used them from the ice and sleet of east coast skiing to the powder out west. They were very dry and warm, no signs of any water getting in. She also wore them when I dragged her to the top of Tuckermans ravine in NH. It was a blistery cold day and these pants kept her warm the entire time.

She sized up to a M to allow for a layer or 2 underneath, though these pants are insulted so don't be expecting to put on too many layers underneath. The pockets are a nice design for holding a hat or extra glove liners or a granola bar. Also she is big fan of the venting for warmer days.

Highly recommended for girls who want to be dry and warm at a fair price.

great pant too big!

By:
November 27, 2009

Love this pant.(as well as the Mrs. Smith) Well insulated but not too bulky. Feels good on. Not too low on the rise. North Face usually runs small on me. I am size 10-12 in normal clothes. Size 14 in NF items. This item (as well as Mrs Smith) runs big. Even with the velcro adjustments in the waist. (even with jeans on underneath) No way it was going to fit. I have an athletic build with muscular quads and 31 inch waist. The XL pants swallowed me. UGH! had to send back and the ones on sale were not in my size. Had to buy the higher priced ones in my size. grrrr. although good price for the quality. Might fit pear shapes, or curvy better in this size.

Review Title

I like these pants a great deal, and I am a guy. I have trouble fitting into most male sized ski pants. So I opted for some girls ski pants. It worked! They are tough and warm, not restricting. I went skiing on the coldest day of the year (so far at 5 degrees) and I was toasty up and down the slopes with only a pair of thermals on underneath. Buy these, you won't be disappointed in them.

Waaayyyyy too big!

By:
December 10, 2009

These seem like cool pants, but they are way too big. Seriously - order one full size down! If you think you're a large, order a medium, etc. I'm going to have to return mine and I'm not sure if I'll re-order because the sizing is so far off of normal that I'm afraid to end up ordering and returning a second pair.

Great Pants

These pants run a little larger than many of the NF products - I took a medium whereas in some of the tighter fitting ones, I need a large. I particularly like that they're reasonably warm, but not bulky and have great pockets. They're easily adjustable in the waist too! And for me, one of the best features is that they're available in different lengths ... the short was perfect on me whereas with others I have to just put up with extra length.

Skiing in Niseko

By:
February 20, 2010

I bought these pants for skiing in Niseko. I am heavy on the lower half and these pants were a good fit - maybe a little big around the waist, but a good fit through the hips and thighs. They would benefit from a belt as well as the side tabs. I an only 160cm and the regular length pants are way too long. They fit my husband who is 6' 2"!! I plan to hold out for the short length to be back in stock for my next ski trip. With thermals they were warm enough for the -9C - -11C weather, even during the frequent snow falls!

AWESOME

By:
February 16, 2010

These pants kept me dry and warm in below freezing conditions. I did have my thermal on underneath as well, but these pants were awesome. The white color does show the dirt but they wash well. I didnt like the fact that the skirt didnt have the option to tighten, but i did put velcro ties on them to secure that. The pockets and vents were in the right places! I ordered them in short because I'm small and they fit perfect.

Too Big!

I never got these out on the slopes. I am 5'5, 130 and got a medium. I was swimming in these! They seemed like they would have been nice and warm though!

Very nice pant..

By:

I bought these pants for a winter photography trip to Yellowstone. Loved the pants. They were very insulated and absolutely waterproof. They were a little bit big but I wore two pairs of thermals underneath in addition to the insulated pants so I was fine with it. Did not feel baggy or saggy. The waist was a little big but I don't tuck in, i wear my layers outside the waistband for the most part. I loved the cargo pockets. If I had a negative, it would be that there were velcro adjustable tabs on the waist and they just snagged the bejeebers out of my silky thermals....but if I tucked my shirt in it wouldn't have been a problem! I have two other pairs of insulated pants...both Columbia. These are better.

Great Pants

These are great. They fit slightly below the waist so they are very comfortable. Repalced 10 year old oants and they are so light weight yet so warm. Bought another paie as a gift and they are saying the same thing. Excellent pant for excellent value.

Finally

By:
January 6, 2010

Finally I found a pair of women's pants that fit! They are long enough and I still look like a girl! I wear a pair of thermals underneath and stay plenty warm and dry. I also like the velcro waistband adjustments...for those days when the after-ski treats are plentiful.

waterproof, warm, and they look great!

By:
December 19, 2009

I've worn these in bone-chilling single digit weather and in balmy slush and they've been great! Warm in the icy cold and I didn't overheat when it was 40 degrees out either. Best news is that the waterproofing is solid - after all weekend in the slush, I was cozy dry in these pants. They also look great, much better than my Burton's (trimmer fit). Note that they run a bit big. The XS fits me just right, and I am a size 4, almost size 6.
