good one to have

This bag is super light and very cool looking....I love it, and it's a good one to take on a big trip or even backpacking when you are going to be staying in one spot for a few days--you can just throw it in your luggage for day hikes or cruising around a city.

North Face Flyweight Rucksack :-(

By:
August 9, 2010

A disappointment, not up to NF standards in terms of design. The outside pockets are useless; anything and everything falls out of them. The back pocket needs a zipper. The side pockets need better quality elastic. Also, even for the price, the fabric is cheesy. Looks cheap, doesn't work well.

I've been looking for a light weight backpack for general

I've been looking for a light weight backpack for general use, and this looks perfect. Does anyone know if it is small enough that I could use it for a carry-on bag on an airplane?

Yeah - this pack would be an ideal carry-on item. I have carried packs onto the plane up to 3000 cu in. You'll have no problems with this pack.

Northface-flyweight rucksack

By:
August 28, 2009

Used it as a daypack from base camp to summit. Performed badly. The rucksack lost shape and kept slipping from shoulder. In addition, the top cover with pocket was blown up by wind. Might have performed better if it was total filled but I had to use most of the rain gear that it was originally stuffed with. I am returning this item.

Good

i thought this might make good use for an everyday bag. not so. super light. well made of course. the biggest complaint is there is no support or shape. the photos mislead slightly. it is just a big bag. it is not very rectangular and if you only have on or two things in it, then its this awkward sack thing hanging on your back. it just slides around. i suppose for its intended use it should be perfect, but for any "regular" use, nope. returned it and got the pivot 22.

Conceptually good, but in practicality - flawed

By:

When the pack isn't completely filled the functional shape of the pack is compromised and it begins to hang uncomfortably from your shoulders. This design flaw, as I consider it, caused a seam on the top flap to show signs of separation. I'll be returning this item.
