Soft and strechy!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 205 lbs
    Size Purchased: large

My favorite fleece! Has tailored athletic fit but is a strechy material that moves great with you. Fleece has a very durable exterior (hard-fleece) and very soft interior. Have a black and a green, wear them everywhere from office to woods.

Warm and minimal weight

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 1"
    Weight: 185 lbs
    Size Purchased: XL

Very satisfied with this purchase. This fleece is warm and light weight. I use it for travel and outdoors therefore I've got XL since I prefer relaxed fit. Plus L was short on sleeves length.

Feels true to size, Im 6ft and 185 lb and order mine in Large and feels ok. Its really light and the Polartec is very soft.
The stretch sensation is great also. Great mid layer for cold days and outer layer for autumn days.

Great Fleece

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 10"
    Weight: 168 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

Very comfortable, reasonably light and seems to compress pretty well for a fleece. I'm 5'10", athletic build, and float between 165-170 lbs. and the medium fits me perfectly in the body. The only weird thing with the fit is the sleeves seem unreasonably long (as I don't think I have short arms), so I have to roll the cuffs up a bit or they hit halfway down my hand, but no big deal. Only issue I've had is that it is quite a bit warmer than I expected for the weight. It may just be me because tend to run a bit hot, but it may actually end up being too warm for me for spring and fall hiking, which is what I had planned to use it for.

Warm and Functional

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 180 lbs

It fits well, is super warm and comfy and is a great underlayer for those cold days. I'm sure it'll also be great as a regular jacket during the spring. Should really get this in another color too.

Obsessed with this fleece!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this thing. Have had it a couple weeks and have worn it so much my girlfriend has requested I get another one in a different color so it "looks like I don't wear the same thing everyday." With the warmer than normal temperatures this winter in No. Idaho I was looking for something to replace my heavier jackets and this certainly did the trick. Can wear it in high 30s/low 40s and feel great.

My new favorite pullover!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This has been my go to pullover in the month I have had it. I am 5'11" 185 lbs. and the Large fits nicely. I really like look of it and the stretchiness of the Polartec Power Stretch Pro fabric really gives it a nice fit! It's fairly light and seems very durable. The warmth is great too, warmer than standard fleece. good by itself on mild days and a great mid layer for the colder ones. I wasn't sure about the extra "Summit Series" logo on the sleeve but I got over it fast as soon as I tried it on. Great Pullover, a little pricey but this is a good one!

My new favorite pullover!

Excellence.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is the second one that I've purchased from Backcountry and it really is an excellent top. I've hiked, run, skated, and just lazed about in it. It's great for pretty much anything. The power stretch pro fabric is pretty heavy, and will do a great job of keeping you toasty during the chilly. The zip is well designed as there is no chance of zip chafe.

Great all-round mid-layer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great top. Wear it for mostly for skiing but have also worn it on runs and hikes when needing a warm layer. Really comfortable, fits great, doesn't restrict movement. Love it.

Bad zipper

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 10"
    Weight: 170 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

Love this product and fits great. It's so warm, but had to return because of zipper would get stuck. Hope the next one does not have this issue. Will let you guys know in a few days. The 2nd one I got was fine and I love it. Use for hiking, snow shoeing, and running.

Not to pick nits, but North Face doesn't make the zipper. They may have quality inspection issues, but i wonder - should a defective zipper made by YKK, for example, count against the garment's rating? Just a thought...

Responded on

Sorry to hear that your opinion was flagged. That's not right. Someone probably thought you work for TNF. However, the fact that the zipper is part of the finished product should be enough reason for it to earn or lose a point because customers are buying the jacket with the expectation of a fully-functional zipper. If the zipper doesn't work right then the jacket does not work right for that person.

Responded on

@5319778 ok, now that i've had a chance to ruminate over this some i can see that the OP has a point. The zipper on the North Face Flux is a Ykk 3ct reverse-coil -- a little bit delicate and difficult to actuate. I notice some other manufacturers also use this zipper (3c) on their 1/4zip fleeces (Marmot Alpinist) for some reason vs. a burly, one-handed zip like the beefy ladder-type Vislon 3v (like on the (sadly discontinued) Arc'teryx AtomLT 1/2zip pullover). I can only assume that it's to give the garment a more refined appearance, and maybe a little more weather resistance? Point being, i recognize that this is a design issue with The North Face and not totally on YKK. My apologies. I still wish i knew who flagged my comment as "stupid" so that i could make a total public mockery of them in return. ;-) Peace
