Sometimes checking the ground for rocks isn’t enough to prevent hidden rocks and sticks from shredding your tent floor, so The North Face made the Flint 2 Footprint to protect your tent from unnecessary abuse. Its tough, water-resistant nylon fabric stops roots and rocks from ruining the floor of your Flint 2 Tent (sold separately), and since it covers the entire floor area while you sleep, it provides a small amount of insulation against the cold earth and adds an extra layer to help keep the rain puddles from leaking though your tent’s seams.

  • This footprint allows fly-only pitching with your Flint 2 Tent, which means that you can cut down on weight during summer camping and set up just the poles, fly, and this footprint as a base

Perfect Footprint

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The guys below must have purchased the wrong item. This footprint is perfect for the North Face Flint 2 tent. It fits perfectly, it does what it's supposed to and then some. I've put it on some rough stuff and it hasn't been punctured a bit. The bottom gets a bit messy after a while, but hey, it's not the tent. I have no complaints at all. Just make sure you're getting the right footprint for your tent.

This Product will not fit your tent!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The product picture you see above will not match the product sent to you. The footprint they are selling is for your fly only and will not attach to the tent. This fly is not intended to be used with the tent! The picture used in the advertisement has different colored tabs and the tabs on the footprint I received are all yellow. As far as I am concerned this is false advertising. A bullet point below an initial paragraph is normally used to offer details, not inform you that everything you read above is actually inaccurate and does not apply. I am also further disappointed in the review below from a Backcountry employee (Arthur) who claims that the footprint should fit the tent. The footprint does not fit the tent because it was not made for the tent. If you want a footprint for your fly only, then buy away. If you want a footprint for your tent then do not make this purchase. I believe this product description to be misleading and feel Backcountry should change this description immediately.

North Face Flint 2 Footprint

Bought my Flint 2 on clearance and picked up the footprint through The price was good for what I got. I've used it on two backpacking trips above 8000ft and it works well. Perfect fit to my fav tent.

Is this something that will be back in...

Is this something that will be back in stock, or is it discontinued?

I just received this product, but it does...

I just received this product, but it does not match the description in that it does not "cover the entire floor." The unit I received is trapezoidal. It measures 84" long and is 50" wide on one end (which is fine), but it's only 41" wide on the other end, which is quite a bit narrower than my tent. Is this the specified dimensions? Also, the attachments are different than the photo, just nylon tape with grommets, which do not work on the narrow end.

This footprint is made to be matched with the North Face Flint 2 tent which has floor dimensions of 87" length, 54"width at the head and 44" at the feet. That means the footprint should sit just under the floor with a little bit of space between the edge of the tent and the footprint. That sounds about right for a footprint. If it is a direct match or the footprint sticks out it is much more likely to act as a rain catch and funnel water under your tent.
