Not as complicated as nuclear fission, but equally as innovative, The North Face's ultralight Fission 20-Degree Sleeping Bag packs easily and keeps you warm. This synthetic sleeping bag's durable, water-resistant shell protects you from misty fog and wet morning dew. The half-length zipper and welded construction keep this Flight Series sleeping bag at just over 2 pounds, so you can pack it in and head out on your spring, summer or fall backpacking adventure. If your feet get hot, bend down, unzip the Fission's zippered footbox and stick your hot feet into the cool night air.

Bottom Line: Venture out into the wilderness with The North Face Fission 20-Degree 3-season Sleeping Bag.

Really light - very comfortable

I too was amazed at the size of the stuff sack. Granted I broke out in a full sweat trying to cram it into there, but once it was down I couldn't complain.

I'm 6'1 200lbs and the long is a perfect fit. The 1/3 length zipper is a bit tough to get into, although I appreciate the weight savings. The footbox is roomy and when open keeps a great breeze going through. Haven't had to test this in the cold weather, but in 50-60 degrees it kept me perfectly comfortable.

The red color looks as badass in real life as it does on the screen. Another + for north face!

It only comes with the zipper on the left side but my friend has contacted North Face and they gave him a place to contact to get one custom made. It was a little more expensive but my friend says he likes it a lot more and its convenient

TNF Fission 20 Reg

I just received this bag today. After I had ordered it, I noticed conflicting specs on different websites. Some of them said the stuffed size was 8x17, others said 7.5x13. I asked backcountry which was correct, and I was told it was impossible for a 20 degree synthetic bag to stuff down to 7.5x13. I was inclined to agree with them, not exactly being a gear novice. Well, the bag just came, and inside was the stuff sack: 7.5x13 right on the tag. I thought there was no way the bag was going in that thing. I was wrong. Crazy. I couldn't believe it either, but it fit. It was tight, but I got it in. I didn't post this to prove Backcountry employees wrong. Nope, I wouldn't do that to my friends. Just posted it to show everyone that it WILL stuff down to 7.5x13. Cheers.

so far, so good

I bought this bag for a homeless spring, summer, and fall in northern michigan.(saving money for a serious trip to chile) I was weary to get a bag rated so low because we have some serious hot humid nights. Tonight for example, 10:00 pm 82 degrees, 80% humidity. I picked this simply because of the great price on a 20 degree bag and the footbox vent. This vent makes a world of difference, with both top and bottom zippers wide open, my 6'0 220lb body inside a Long fission feels a gentle breeze blow through all night... well at least until I fall asleep which doesn't take too long because this thing is gorgeously comfortable. I would've been fine with a regular length, but I've never had a problem with extra room. Plenty of space in this mummy bag for me, the vaulted footbox is also amazing, SO much room to roll around and twist my feet all I want. A true 3 season sleeping bag, don't waste your money on a cold night bag and a warm night bag. Just slap this ultralight, ultra compressible bag in your backpack and you'll be fine no matter what gets thrown at you. My coldest night was at 28 degrees this spring, slept great that night. There's so much i can say about this thing, I'll wait until I have a night under 20 degrees this fall to wrap this review up. Highly recommended.
