This sweater is basic...functional and soft, but don't think it will hold up for much more than around town

Solid Midweight Sweater

By:
January 24, 2011

This is a nice mid-weight sweater that wears well around the office, on the town, and in the wild. The main reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is that it runs HUGE. I am 5'7, 175 lb. and the Medium fits me like an extra large. Small fits me the way I would expect a Medium to fit.

If you're looking for a heavier wool sweater I'd recommend the Patagonia Lambswool crew. That piece runs much truer to size, but it is also almost 2x the price of the Fairfax.

Cheers!

It was a little thinner than I thought it would be, but still really nice.

Disappointed

Sleeves stretched out of shape. The fabric is much thinner than I expected.

A little loose looking but warm enough

This is a nice sweater. Arms and fit are nice but i would have wanted it a little tight around the waist. Design and style are nice too. Just a little loose around the waist and wrists.

Review Title

I'm a sucker for simple, solid color crew neck sweaters. Every year I buy one, but I sub consciously insist on a few criteria:
1) the sweater be somewhat form fitting.
2) no logos, but if I find a cool sweater with a logo, it can't be loud enough to be an advertisement.
3) must be built to last me a couple of years.

The Fairfax Crew fit like a moomoo. I wear a men's large and it felt like a xxl.
The thread count/material for this sweater is like yarn and stretches like yarn.
I returned it right after I tried it on. If you have different criteria for your sweaters, this may be a better buy for you than it was for me.

Wow! This sounds just like what I am looking for. I don't like for my clothes to fit tight I want a Merino or lambswool sweater to fit and feel like a soft light weight sweat shirt. Very comfy and casual to ware with jeans. I live in Alaska and I have plenty of nice heavy clothing to ware. I want something to ware around the house sitting by the fireplace with a coco...light weight Thanks Dunn
