Fight the base-camp blues\227and cold\227with The North Face Men's Elysium Jacket. As part of the hardcore Summit Series, this 700-fill down jacket goes from base camp to the summit and keeps you warm all the way. The puffy Elysium Jacket's water-resistant coating helps block snow flurries, and the standard fit leaves plenty of room for layers underneath.

Bottom Line: The North Face Down Elysium Jacket warms your upper half, from the bottom of the mountain to the top.

It is great for those early spring camping nights. Great TNF quality like always and the colors rock.

I have this Jacket and the 550 fill Aconcagua, and the Elysium's 700 fill makes a big difference. It gets down to about -4 Centigrade here in the mountains and Elysium and a shirt keep you pretty comfortable on the move. I'm 6'2 190 pounds and got the Medium. It's plenty wide over broad shoulder and chest, but I wear it like a jacket (two inches over my belt). The only thing that's begun to worry me is it continuously loses its down through the Pertex. Don't get me wrong, the stuff is light as a feather, but do expect some shedding. Overall a fantastic jacket.

A great, stylish, and unique jacket, but...

By:
November 2, 2007

I own the Fall 2006 version, which unlike this year came with 800 fill goose down, making it unique here in Alaska, where everyone and their mom owns a 700 fill Nuptse. I was surprised that they reduced the fill to 700 this year. My one big gripe with this jacket is that it's supposed to have some kind of dual Maximus stretch internal water bottle pockets and it has NOTHING of the sort. Believe me I can't tell you how many times I've tried to figure out where they could possibly be hidden. It too bad that they lied in their advertising, but I love the 800 fill down, and just the mere fact that it isn't a plain ole Nuptse, despite the fact that it did cost $80 more (than last year's down Nuptse) and has no internal water-bottle pockets.

You know you want it!

This jacket is IT! I'm freakishly tall (6'&7") and always have a hard time finding jackets that fit me in the body and arms...Not this time. I have tried on dozens of down jackets with the same results...good coverage everywhere except the wrists. Not only is the jacket long enough but it is toasty warm. I first used it down in Canyonlands National Park before spring arrived. The nights were freezing and the days were sunny and cold. This jacket did everything I hoped it would. You won't go wrong with this jacket.

So Sick, I almost want to hold my tongue

I have had this jacket in green since early december and have yet to see someone else with the same jacket or a comparably beautiful one. The color green does not show up in the picture, as it is almost luminescent. I have waited this long to write a review because I wanted to keep this my little secret, but at the sale price, I am considering buying myself a back-up jacket. The new lightweight and strong outer material is fabulous. I've had many close-calls with snags and sticks in the woods, but the jacket has not punctured. I've washed it a couple of times in the washer and dryer and it comes out looking brand new. This jacket is awesome, I'm 6'3" and 215, and the Large fits perfectly (I would need XL in any other brand for my long arms). I would recommend it to anyone, and I would order whatever size you normally order, as I think they fit very true to size.

Great! Big and warm.

I am 6' tall and 190 lbs and the large fit me great. It was long enough to cover my waist but not to long that I felt like I was drowning. It is very puffy and kept me quite warm. Unfortunately I returned mine because I really did not need another down jacket but it was a great jacket but a bit heavier and bulkier than my The North Face Flash Jacket. Great jacket but I just did not need it at this time.

If You Like Being Warm In The Cold . . .

By:

This jacket is fantastic! The fit perfect (I am 5'11" and wear a medium), and has practical pockets. The North Face has put the down where you need it, up on the shoulders and around the neck where the heat gets lost. So I look a bit like a football player wearing it, but it's better than looking like a marshmallow. This is the only coat, aside from a custom made, I could find with baffle construction, which made it a winner in my book. Also, the fabric is really nice, and sheds even rain with ease. Breathable, warm, great fit, what else would one need?

Best of both worlds

This place is amazing. Shipped within 1 hour of my placing the online order. As for the jacket, this truly is a work of engineering: an ultra light jacket quilted with 700 goose down for optimal warmth. I plan on using it for Thanksgiving in Chicago. With predicted temps of 35-45 degrees, my Florida based butt will be toasty warm and my pencil thin arms won't tire out lugging the Elysium around every time I step indoors. A great all purpose piece of urban/outdoor clothing.

Great jacket

My husband loves this jacket. I had initially bought it for him in green, but it turned out to be VERY green (a little too bright for his taste) so we exchanged it for the brown and he's very happy with it.

Elysium Jacket

By:
January 29, 2008

Very warm jacket for wearing around town on cold nights and up in the mountains as well. There is a bit more down coming out of the material (that is supposed to be downproof...) than I would expect for a jacket costing as much as this one does. It's also a bit bulkier than I thought it would be. Overall thought, a good warm down jacket.
