Description

Superlight half-bag for alpine minimalists and big wall climbers.

Shave extra pounds from your alpine pack when you climb big mountains while carrying the warm and rugged Elephant’s Foot Sleeping Bag from The North Face. This half bag only covers your lower half but is equipped with warm PrimaLoft Infinity insulation and a waterproof breathable HyVent DT shell, so your legs are just as warm as your upper body when you sleep wearing a puffy insulated jacket. Set up the bivy-like bag anywhere—the nylon-reinforced seat and footbox guards against rips from sharp rocks on the outside and your stiff mountaineering boots on the inside. For a good night’s rest, attach the lanyards to the suspender loops, and tighten the shock cord front closure to seal out the wicked cold of a monster mountain without taking off your precious layers.

TNF Elephant's foot trailside review

Thanks for filming in snowy setting and all. Very helpful video for deciding on an elephant's foot. Looks ideal with my camping hammock set-up.

Best Spring/Summer

Used this last year and this year and can't beat the set-up. Along with my down layer top this is one light weight combo. Washes well and keeps lofted after crushed down to cantelope size. I've even slept with my boots on in it and it cleans up great and dries really fast. With good velour bottoms and booties this will keep you warm enough to sleep 6 hrs or so down to 30F easy. Around 25F and below you will be waking up every hour. Spring, Summer and Fall it's all I use except when I know I will be over 10k.

Does this bag have a zipper on the side?

Does this bag have a zipper on the side?

Responded on

There is not a zipper.

The North Face Website says it includes:
"Suspender loops can be used with lanyards" and "Adjustable shock cord closure"

The idea is that you slide in, put the suspender loops on, tighten down the shock cord closure(like a giant stuff sack) and snooze away.

Hope that helps.
