The casual Duboce Jacket brings The North Face downtown, with soft wool construction and a clean, technical look. This insulating piece works admirably on its own in the fall, and moves seamlessly under a shell in the winter for durable warmth. Dual handwarmer pockets do just that, while internal media and security pockets hide your tunes and cash.
what else can i say,i ordered xl and i am 5'9'' 200 lbs.and the fit is perfect, not too snug and not too baggy,it's very thin, but wool does wonderful on cold and warm conditions, very good looking too,at least that's the feedback i get on the street...hope it helps.

It's the kind of wool that comes from sheep. Not merino, if you're wondering.I own this jacket and as Angus said it is traditional wool but the jacket is completely lined so I have never noticed it to be itchy and my lady friend has no problem cozying up to it so you should have no complaints.
The North Face does a great job making jackets. Duboce Wool keeps me warm on cold morning's on the way to work. I originally was looking for a wool pea coat but didnt like the style, once i found this it went perfect. the warmth was good too. Although i was thinking it would be a heavy wool jacket, this is warm for how thin it is. Pockets are well lined "non snag for those of us who have rough hands" For extreme cold weather I usually wear a hooded sweatshirt under. all around i think this jacket is perfect for fall, light winter.
I went to hang this jacket up for the first time and realized that the seam that tapers at the elbow on the outside of the sleeve on one arm but it is on the inside of the sleeve on the other arm. Meaning that both elbow taper seams are not on the same side of the sleeve for both arms. Is this right or is one of the sleeves on backwards? Otherwise, I wouldn't really care, but the jacket is $200.
This is one of TNF's gems. It has the quality you love and expect from TNF but without looking like every other ski jacket on the market. The jacket is fitted and bridges the gap between performance sports ware and hip urban jacket. TNF logo on the shoulder is the same color as the jacket which is nice and makes the branding less in your face.
The wool is thin, less than 1/2mm in thickness, so it is very flexible and feels really nice and soft.
The lining is of a soft material like a sport coat and has a nice stripped pattern. The interior pockets are well made and very useful. The exterior hand pockets are lined with a nice soft thin fleece material, and all the zippers are easy to open and close.
I wore this around San Francisco for a week and had no problems at all. It was just warm enough to keep me happy, but not so heavy that I would start to sweat on the train after a brisk walk to get there.
I had the taupe/green version. This jacket plays some serious tricks on your eye. Inside under florescent lights it looks very dull - more of brown green which I really liked - but outside in the sun light, it looks like a pine tree. The green becomes much brighter. I didn't like this funky color shift so I returned it. If REI had another color on sale, I would have kept the jacket.
This jacket doesn't seem like it would be long enough to fit over a blazer. This jacket is fitted. Great combo with just work attire, shirt, tie, dress pant....(second reviewer)I agree, depending on the size of this jacket, a blazer would probably feel a little bunched up underneath this North Face jacket. This jacket is styled like a blazer, so therefore I think it would be like wearing two sweaters - it works if the otter one is a size bigger.
When I think of buying a "wool" jacket I immediate think of warmth. This was a mistake for this jacket. It has great style, but is not thick at all. It will stop the wind, but will not keep you warm unless you have on layers underneath. I live in Pittsburgh where its usually a cool 30 degrees all winter (4 months), I am returning it, there's no way this will work for me. If you are looking for a stylish jacket that will stop the wind in fall and early winter/early spring, I would recommend it. But for this price I just cant do it because its not going to keep me warm for our 4 months of winter.
I was looking for a spring/fall jacket to replace a favorite that was lost. This is as close as I can get. The multiple zip pockets are a plus. Don't expect this to be winter weight, and order one size up in order not to be disappointed. I had to exchange the medium for a large -- a minor inconvenience.
Pro: - Simple & elegant style - Suitable coat to wear with work clothes - Lining inside coat, prevents the wind from breezing through jacket - Media pocket can easily fit an ipod & has reinforced hole to fit headphone cord.
Cons:
- FITTED - I own 4 Northface jackets and this one is definitely fitted (as a previous person had mentioned). So if you are looking for something loose fitting, i would recommend going up one size up from what you normally wear. You can use the sizing chart (above right) to give you a good idea of how it would fit. Basically the size i bought would have been the equivalent to my dress shirt size and it fitted as such. (hope this makes sense to everyone).
- NOT SUITABLE FOR NORTHEAST WINTER - this jacket would be great for the fall or Spring, but it is definitely not warm enough for the winter.
I truly wish this jacket was heavier and looser fitting. I love the style of this jacket and waited for a long time to get a better price for it. But when i got it, i have to admit that the price was definitely not worth it. This jacket should have a starting point in the Low $100 range.
