Carrying a lightweight pack keeps your load light, but it usually means that you'll get a lousy night's sleep because you'll have to fight feeling claustrophobic inside a restrictive bag. The North Face Dolomite 2S 40-Degree Down Sleeping Bag gives you room to move and, since it's made with ultralight materials, it won't weigh you down.

  • The 600-fill down insulates with a high warmth-to-weight ratio
  • Rectangular shape gives you plenty of room so you don't feel like you're sleeping in a sarcophagus
  • Shoulder-level zipper pocket stores headlamp, keys, or wallet
  • Overlapping shingle construction eliminates cold spots
  • Full-length draft tube prevents heat from escaping through the zipper

I've never quite understood stuff size. The large dimension is the height, ones width and what's the other?

Think of stuff size like you would the dimensions of a cube you have the length, the breadth and the height of the sleeping bag when its in its stuff sack. In this case the height is the longest dimension measuring 16.7in. Most bags can be compressed smaller then there listed stuff size.

The other size would be considered length which would be essentially how thick it is like the width but since it is a circular shape that is how they give it.

This IS an odd one though. Stuff size is usually given in "diameter" and "length" -- just two measurements. Here there are three! I guess assume it's a cubic object or rectangular stuff sack.

Solid 40 degree bag

This bag gets 4 stars only because the sale price of $143.16 is still a little high. That's just North Face not Backcountry or any other outfitter. Backcountry had the best price. Great bag accurately rated 40deg goose down. If you don't like mummy bags this is it. I'm 6'-0" and the Long bag has plenty of head overlap for coverage. I'm very happy to own it. It would get 5 stars if it were $125.00 and/or i see how it wears in upcoming seasons for durability.

Can a L and R bag be zipped together for make a double ?

You definitely can't zip them together in the standard method because they unzip completely, but you may be able to unzip one completely and use one for a bottom and one for a top blanket. Someone else would have to chime in on that one though.

We have the 20 degree left hand and 40 degree down right hand. Both zip together without any problem and allow you to match the top bag to the climate. Effectively you get a double wide sleeping bag that's good for two different climates.

On both this website and North Face's website this bag is advertised as 40 degree in the heading and 20 degree in the specs. Which is it?

It's a 40 degree bag. The Dolomite 3S is a 20 degree bag. It seems to be mixed up all over the internet depending on where you look.

Done right.

Great price for what you get. Lightweight, easy to pack, very roomy, durable, excellent for summer camping!

Can you wide open the sleeping bag as a blanket? or the zipper just go down to your toes?... thanks you

Yes, you can unzip the sleeping bag all the way so it may be used as a blanket. It's wonderful!
