When you're not hiking, climbing, or otherwise getting out there, wear The North Face Men's Dogpatch Pant for casual comfort. The North Face garment-washed these cotton twill Dogpatch Pants for a soft hand and gave them straight-leg, khaki-inspired style.
Bottom Line: For the days you hang around town, The North Face made the Dogpatch Pants.
Love these, use them as my work pants. I'm 135 and 5'10" and got 30x34's and they fit wonderfully. (i think they were called 30 long). They are durable and light so they don't give me swamp balls. Pretty soft but wrinkle like a mo. Love them otherwise
Good pants dressier than jeans but still casual. The fabric is much lighter than I guessed from the picture so they're not super tough. The rivets and the "North Face" sewn-on label prevent them from being appropriate for many work situations that would require a tad bit more formality (of the Dockers variety). So they're something between jeans and casual dress pants.

I wear a 34x32, so a 34 Reg fit perfect. These pants are light weight, soft, and extremely comfortable. These are hands down my favorite pants right now. They look great with boots or tennis shoes too - very versatile. They are very durable and have held up to a lot of abuse. I would take these on camping trips for sure, but they look just as great out on the town. I plan on buying a few more pairs in different colors.
These are decent enough pants. The one issue I have, and it's a big one, is the durability problems with the button and fly. The sewing on the button is shoddy, I had to resew it on after about a month of use. The zipper of the fly also broke fairly easily. I still use them, but more for yard work and hiking and with a broken fly I can't really use them for much else.
Nope - they are cotton. If you are looking for pants that easy maintenance, I would look at The North Face Paramount Utility Pants- they are synthetic and you should not have to iron them.
I'm 5'6" and 138 lbs. These pants look fine and seemingly a great deal at $20 on Backcountry but the fit on me was horrible. I got 30 short, the smallest size available I believe, and the waist was fine but everything else was too large. The seat bloomed out and the leg opening was way too wide. I even tried it with hiking boots and it covered much more than half the boot. I know I'm a smaller guy but I don't know anyone who would wear 30 shorts (I usually wear 30x30) that needs pants this wide. I looked like a 17 year old kid at his first job interview wearing his dad's khakis.
The fit was my only concern, I can't speak to quality as I returned the item but I'm sure it looks fine if not ill-fitted like my pair.
The short size is perfect for those guys who usually get frustrated with the 30L pants out on the market. There sit perfectly and are just long enough to make them look like I had them tailored.
They are rugged too; i'm a scientist and spill all sorts of things on them but they wash and clean up so well. Finally they are dressy enough to put on a button down and look nice in a biz causal setting.
The pair I tried slightly ballooned at the hips where the front pocket meets the side seam. The pant did not drape well and did not look attractive on me. Maybe your body type can handle it but i had to pass. They were almost cool but something was just not right.
I love these Dogpatch pants. Low rise and short crotch, unlike so many jeans today. Very light material, yet they hang well so it doesn't look like you're wearing nurses' scrubs. These aren't really work or climbing pants, though. More of a casual-wear option, as they are too light for rough-duty. For $25 on SaC, a no-brainer. Buy 'em!
great khakis for any occasion. comfortable and light, these pants will go anywhere and look good. as with all the north face products, construction is up to par and the size 38x30 was true. im buying two more pair in different colors
I really have no reason not to give these pants the full 5 stars. North Face has made a very high quality pair of pants here. The fabric is soft, breaths, and feels great. You can happily wear these pants out on trail, in the city, or even to the office. The fit is really nice too, and hugs in all the right places (assuming you want it to hug in "the right places"). Note: I am 6' 2'' and generally wear a 34'' 34'' and I think that these run like a 35'' maaaybe 36'' in length. Originally I got the 34'' waist and then returned it for a 36'': TOO SMALL, TOO TIGHT. Shoot for one size larger in the waist and you'll be happy you did. Great pair of pants.
Dog patch pants are true to size. After a good wash, they shrink just perfectly to wear with flip flops or hiking boots. I have three diff colors. love 'em.
My question is, should I buy these based on jean size, or should I be safe and go with dress slack size? I wear suits everyday for work, and I know that jeans and slacks fit diferently, which is the reason I usually buy pants locally, ability to try them on, but for the price I would love to buy these online. Some insight would be extremely helpful?
These are awesome, I can wear them to work, go to the woods and then to dinner in the eve. I don't need to change. I bought a several pair to stock pile for when they change them or discontinue. Rugged, comfortable and all around good pants for everything.. I'm a return customer and have worn these pants for over 2 years now and will hopefully be able to find them in another 2 years.
Are you wondering what size is 30 and what size is 32? Depends on the waist but for the most part the average length is generally 2" longer than short.Hope that helps.
I have short legs so, I ordered one pair of these to make sure the fit was correct. After wearing those for a while I decided that I loved these pants. They are very comfortable and are a little dressier than jeans. I ended up ordering another six pairs. Not to mention I've been wearing my first pair for almost a year and they are holding up great.
The "long" is listed as a 34 in inseem, but after trying on several pairs, I would say it's more like a true 32 in inseem. I liked the pants overall: good styling and athletic fit, but too short. I am a true 34x34, but these are not taylored correctly
I wear a 31 waist with a 27"-28" inseam. If I get the short inseam 30" does anyone know if they can be shortened without a telltale sign? Would I be better off getting the longer medium inseam?
2 Stars might be a little harsher than I really feel, but I've been a bit disappointed. I actually have 2 pairs. My main complaints are that the fit in the seat is poor and that the pockets are poorly sized. The front pockets are too shallow and things fall out when I'm sitting, and the rear pockets are strangely cavernous (though this is less of a problem). For reference, I'm 5'8, 155, and the 32 short fits better than the regular (the regular length drags on the ground more than I'd like).
Bought a pair of these off steepandcheap for $20, like them so much that I'm buying two more for full price. They're perfect for bike commutingsuper soft and comfortable, but flexible enough for the office. I'm a 34x32, and the 34 reg is perfect.
I normally wear a 36X34 and i ordered the 38 and they fit fine around the waist but they are too short. Other than that they are a great light pant for having to work in the heat during the summer.
Very comfortable and pretty true to size. 32 Long (32x34 is my normal size) fit perfectly. Material is not heavy, so there is some compromise of strength, but it is made up for by the softness. Great for everyday casual use.
I own 2 pair of these now; they are great for keeping it comfortable, but decent looking enough to go out on the town. They look good with sandals or casual sneakers. The only negative is that they are difficult to iron (cut isn't like an actual pair of khakis/chinos but slightly looser).
These pants are pretty nice. The best part about them is they are very soft and comfortable. These are good casual work pants, and also good climbing/hiking pants.
Good pants dressier than jeans but still casual. The fabric is much lighter than I guessed from the picture so they're not super tough. The rivets more...
