Description

Fated to be a go-to winter jacket.

The North Face Women’s Destiny Down Jacket proves that not all down jackets are fated to be wispy things that can’t handle wet or windy weather. Thanks to the HyVent shell, you can enjoy the exceptional warmth of the 600-fill down insulation both in stormy and sunny conditions. The slim fit and flattering diagonal quilting also mean your Destiny does not include the dreaded bulky down-jacket look.
  • Internal rib cuffs and invisible zips on the outer cuffs keep out drafts
  • Snap-back powder skirt with gripper elastic keeps the snow from creeping up your back
  • Pant-a-lock system attaches the jacket to your pants to present a united front against the elements
  • Fixed hood adjusts with a tug

Hey this jackets performs so well.I Tele ski/Alpine in the woods out of its awesome warm too!Gorgeous looking on the fit is so perfect for me the small I'm 5'^" weigh 116 long! Only thing is remember when I used it for xcountry tours it was a little warm but thats a good thing! Also the feathers are coming out just a little enough to notice that's down for yaH Enjoy!

Mediocre jacket - even for TNF

I bought this jacket for my wife for skiing. On paper it looks like a hit: Hyvent weave, 600 fill goose down, well-insulated hood, and its made by TNF.Truth be told - it does "shed." The jacket had multiple instances of down feathers coming from the jacket. Before naysayers object, both my wife and I have owned the fabled Nuptse down jacket for a looong time and have never seen feathers. The shell seems cheap - TNF makes great products, but we questioned the long term durability of this jacket and how it would hold up to skiing. The lining was very thin and it seemed that a snag on a chairlift, tree branch etc would tear the jacket. The jacket just seems out of place. The shell lining lacks substance and the jacket definitely sheds feathers - a big red flag.It might be suitable for the skier who hits the hill 3-5 times a year or wants a medium-weight puffy for wearing around town. Otherwise I would steer clear and shell extra money for a more substantial jacket.
We returned it and bought the TNF Snow Cougar from the awesome folks at Backcountry.com.

Shedding Jacket!

I was at REI and instantly liked this jacket and the plum color was so lovely. But I noticed that the jacket was shedding feathers all over. By reading the reviews sounds like another customer experienced the shedding. I have few down jackets and the good quality ones won't shed like that. I decided to pass on it, eventhough I liked the look and the color.

anyone use this for camping/trekking? I plan on going to Patagonia next month and wondering if this will hold up to temps.

Responded on

It's late summer in Patagonia now and not cold so this will for sure hold up to temps. I camped/trekked in Patagonia in early December(spring)once and the temps varied. One moment I was hiking in a long sleeved base layer and sweating, and later in a fleece and rain jacket. I never wore more than that.

North Face Destiny Down Jacket

I think the design is nice if you are looking for a light weight down. It has a great hood and nice fit.
However, it was a little too light for what I needed. If the weather is colder than 32. You would need to layer.

love this jacket, hate that it keeps shedding down though...

I am 5'8", 150 and the size large fits perfect without being overly "puffy". Keeps me warm without overheating ( I wear it around town in 10f-50f temps).

My one big complaint is that it excessively sheds the down feathers inside of it. I knew a few would make their way out, but I've had the coat for over a month now and there are always white/brown feathers coming out which get everywhere.

I'm trying to find a light, warm jacket for snow mobiling. I really like the look of this jacket with the hood and the look but before making a purchase want to know if this would be a good purchase for the activity I want it for.

This would be good for snowmobiling--but you may want something a bit tougher like the Chaletta Down jacket; it will hold up better to the wear and tear your clothes take on a sled.
