Love this jacket!

I just bought the Destiny Down Jacket. I am a rowing coach, and being out on the water not moving can be bone-chilling. As its still quite warm out, I can't tell you about how warm it is, but the fit is great. I am 6'1" and 170lbs. The jacket is slightly short on me, (but I'm used to that!) I got an XL, and there's plenty of room underneath without it being too bulky, and the sleeve length is perfect. I'm super excited to test it on the water!

Will this keep you dry in the snow?

The purpose of this is more for warmth than waterproofing. However, this will keep you dry in snow, as long as its not horrible wet snow.

Great Jacket!

Great jacket! Not too short. I am 5'2" and 105 lbs and and an XS fit perfectly. Warm, very comfortable, and classy while still being practical. I am very happy I ordered this jacket and am sure I will use it for years to come!

Great Buy

I just got this coat and it's even nicer than I expected. It's incredibly warm and water resistant and has a really nice fitted shape. The purple is a deep eggplant shade. I would say it fits on the small side; I'm 5'2 and a women's size 0, and it fits me perfectly, while most XS ski coats are way too big, especially Columbia. So I would think about ordering up a size.

North FaceDestiny Down Jacket

This jacket is amazingly warm!! I got a size XS, though all of my other northface gear is a size S. It fits well, with the exception of the jacket being a little short on the torso. Also the feathers have a tendency to keep coming out of the seams of the jacket. But overall I love it, it looks cute dressed up, with jeans, or even with sweats.

I love the jacket!!! Nice and warm, comfortable, highly recommend it, I got an extra large which fits perfect so size must run little smaller, has great compartments inside the coat(goggle holder, mp3 holder)

Good investment

I walk to class, and I was FREEZING with the other coats I tried. This one keeps me very warm. I am 5'8" around 125#s, and I have a hard time with length of coats. This one is a little shorter than I'd like (I like my butt covered), but it still keeps me warm. I only wish it were longer. Other than that, I absolutely love it. I'm anxious to see how it washes.

what size did you buy yours in? i'm 5'7 and 115, i have long arms so im not sure whether to get an XS or S.

i love my destiny

I really love this jacket: the wrist cuffs which keep my arms super warm, and the slim fit. It keeps me warm in 20 degrees easily, and the down is structured in a figure flattering way.

love my destiny

i bought this coat after ordering the "TNF Amore jacket, size M" as soon as it came out of the box i knew i liked it more. the fabric is not stiff, it is not too short on me, like some people have said (I was worried), and it really is a good all around fit (i am 5'7/135lbs)

i really like: the built in hood, the wrist cuffs which keep my arms super warm, and the slim fit. It keeps me warm in 20 degrees easily, and the down is structured in a figure flattering way.

not so cool: the little feathers that come out sometimes, but not a big deal as said below.

straight up sucks

The construction of the arms is strange. Bulky enclosure around wrists and way to heavy with zippers. Sent it back. Bummer of an article of clothing.

i'm pretty happy with the coat. it is not too short on me. i haven't tested it out in below-0 temperatures yet, but it's kept me sufficiently toasty in 20-30 degree weather so far this season.

one small problem: teeny little down feathers come out of the seams sometimes. it's annoying, but not reason enough to send back.

Too short

Way too short and I'm not particularly tall. Also I didn't care for the shade of purple-too much of a reddish tone.

Not Impressed

The jacket is cut really short and there doesn't seem to be much down fill. My stomach showed when I straightened my arms directly in front of me, and I don't have a long torso to cause this issue. Yes, I did order the correct size, as the medium was HUGE on me but still too short (tried the medium on in a store to see if I just needed to go up a size). Not at all warm enough for Michigan winters, either. Sent the coat back and trying again with a different coat from backcountry! :)

The Destiny coat

Cute coat, but it wasn't nearly warm enough. Not to mention it was a little too short...and yes I ordered it in the correct size. I know the North Face brand very well. If I bend or lean over I can feel the cold wind hitting my back. I called backcountry and an extremely nice guy helped me find a warmer (and cheaper) coat (mountain hardwear) that was a little longer that fit my needs! which i love! i'm definitely a mountain hardwear buyer now.

Need this for a Chicago winter. Will this be warm enough and will it not be too puffy?

Responded on

it will be great for those conditions. If you need extra warmth you can always layer underneath.

I'm from the Chicago area and own last year's version of this coat. It's very warm and protects you from harsh winter winds quite nicely.
