Description

A low-profile down jacket that can handle snow on the slopes.

You want the warmth of down without puffiness and without the threat of wetness if it starts to flurry on the ski hill. The North Face Women's Destiny Down Jacket has diagonally stitched baffles that lend a low-profile, slightly bomber style to this jacket. Its HyVent 2L fabric resists water and remains breathable for skiing or snowboarding at your favorite resort all day (the seams aren't taped, so wetness can still seep in through the stitching after long exposure to the elements). The 550-fill down insulation warms you to the core and feels light and fluffy,  and this jacket has a relaxed fit so you can easily slide the Destiny over your baselayers and mid-layers on extremely chilly days.

The Destiny features a fixed hood that adds head warmth when you need it, and the snap-away powder skirt keeps snow from riding up your back when you fall. With pockets for your hands, accessories, cell phone, and goggles, you'll be ready for full days on the slopes or around town.

  • HyVent 2L shell
  • 550-fill down insulation
  • Relaxed fit
  • Fixed hood
  • Two-snap, snap-down powder skirt with gripper elastic
  • Adjustable hem system
  • Two hand-warmer zipped, wrist accessory, internal media, goggles pockets

Mixed feelings

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I love the way this jacket feels when I put it on. It's roomy enough to move around, but it doesn't make me feel like a big blob the way other puffer jackets that I have tried on have. The rave green is a little more yellow than it appears online, but I'm ok with it.

I am very sad to say this, but ultimately I am returning this jacket for one reason: it's too short. I'm between sizes, and even though I decided to order up to size M I feel like the jacket is too short for me, and I'm not particularly tall (5'5" and 120 lbs). It barely comes past my waist line (given that most of my jeans are low rise). Like I said, I love the way this jacket feels, but when I raise my arms slightly or bend over the bottom edge of the jacket lifts several inches above my waist line. I don't feel like thats a good quality for a jacket I'd like to be active in. I don't want to have to worry about my stomach or back showing when I move, and also thats not good for warmth. Other than the length I feel like this jacket runs true to size.

I'd definitely be keeping this jacket if it were 2-3 inches longer.

VERY WARM

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great coat for my 11 y.o. daughter. Bought the orange which is her favorite color. Hits her perfectly to cover the bum but not infringe on her running during recess, to quote her... sometimes TNF outer fabric can be flimsy and tear or pull- not this. quality thickness yet not too heavy for her.
great coat!

Dissapointing

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

I ordered this jacket expecting the color to be a bright, vibrant green like it showed in the picture but when I received it, it is more of a pale, pastel yellow. I was really dissapointed because I hate pastel colors so I automatically had to return it. I ordered a medium because of my bust size but it was definitely baggy. It was an ok fit if I layered it, but the jacket being down I figured I would get too hot if I were to layer it all the time. If I were to order it again (in one of the other colors, of course) I would order a size smaller than usual. The jacket did it's job in keeping me warm, but if I had seen it in a store I would not have even tried it on.
