The best gets better.

If there were a hall of fame for jackets, The North Face Denali would be hanging over the entrance. The Denali has been around for years, because The North Face got it right the first time. And to make sure that there's a Denali for every kind of condition, including cold, windy days, TNF made the Men's Denali Windpro fleece jacket.

The Denali Windpro's main body fabric is Polartec Wind Pro windproof breathable polyester fleece. This completely windproof fabric breathes well to allow sweat vapor to leave so you don't get a nasty, clammy feel. On the chest, shoulders, and upper back, The North Face added Polartec Power Shield to resist abrasion from packs and pack straps. The athletic fit makes it easier to layer a shell over the Denali Windpro for really cold weather, and the fleece is also compatible with zip-in specific jackets from The North Face. The North Face finished the Denali with two zippered hand pockets and a chest pocket. Elastic at the cuffs comfortably seal out draft, and the cinch cord at the hem allows you to customize the fit.

  • Polartec Wind Pro fleece main body fabric
  • Polartec Power Shield abrasion panels
  • Athletic fit, hip length
  • Two hand pockets
  • One chest pocket
  • Zip-in compatible

Unanswered Question

Love the weight of the Fleece in the Denali but I don't care for the power shield fabric. Want a jacket that is entirely fleece. Any recommendations?

Should this jacket be purchased to fit snugly, or larger to fit layers underneath?

Responded on

Hi there,
It's entirely dependent on how you would like to wear it! It is not a very good external layer for stormy weather (snow/rain) so it would need to be worn under a hardshell in that case. I personally would wear this layer pretty snug over a shirt or a light midlayer so it doesn't get to bulky. Feel free to get in touch with me with any further questions!

Takes a beating

Ive rocked mine in a lot of places over the last 10 years or so. Never an issue. Still looks good. Wore it today for the first cold (cold for New Orleans anyway...) front of the year.

The North Face Denali Wind Pro Fleece

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

There's a reason why the Denali is the most recognizable and best selling product that The North Face has ever made. The Denali is made from a polyester fleece and keeps your body warm in a range of climates. It's box shape design hides beer bellies and makes even the un-fittest man look like an athletic beast.

Speaking of Beasts... Denali National Park is home to hundreds of bears. Like face tearing off bears. Lets just say that if this jacket is named after a place that is home to a breading ground of beasts then this jacket must be better than the best thing on earth. Like the original Denali Jacket.

This jacket will not protect your pretty face from bears but it will at least bounce off wind gusts when heading to the movies or apres skiing Denali. I highly recommend this jacket as a guaranteed must have for any guy that you might know.

This jacket runs true to size and came pictured exactly like the photo.

Hey, we bears are not beasts, we are just trying to make it in a man's world!

Alright fleece

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Decent fleece. Let's a good amount of wind through it during those cold winter months. Definitely need to layer under this to stay warm. The look is alirght, kinda traditional and boring

As several reviewers note, Polartec Wind Pro seems to have limited wind blocking ability. The North Face Pamir Windstopper jacket used Gore Windstopper fabric, and is great. But I think the Pamir is being discontinued, with clearance sales in progress. I own two and use them for xc skiing, steelhead fishing, and other cold weather pursuits. Highly recommend the Windblocker fabric. Pamir also has velcro tabs on wide cuffs for adjusting air flow, versus the closed elastic of the Denali. Just FYI for those seeking real wind blocking fleece.

Great upgrade

The wind stopper makes tons of difference in this jackets functionality. I love it

Expected more from TNF

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have worn this jacket for the past two weeks as the weather in NH has grown colder and windy. I have been disappointed in both the level of warmth it provides as well as its wind protection. I have owned much less expensive fleece jackets that provided significantly better protection against the wind. I expected better from TNF.

Great Jacket

Denali WindPro is a great jacket. Warm, faily windproof. Much better than my regular Denali (which I gave away). Regular Denali has Zero windproof properties. Slightest breeze cut through it. WindPro takes care of all but the more extreme wind. Comfortable, it articulates well.

im 5:11 170,and have 33 inch sleeves. I want the jacket to fit pretty loose do you think i should go with the medium or large?

Responded on

I suggest you go with the large. I ended up purchasing both medium and large, which I returned the medium. I too like a looser fitting jacket.

First NF Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This is my first jacket from NF and love it. It has a nice look to it and appears to be warmer than the traditional Denali because of the wind sheer fabric. Having paid roughly $60 less (being on sale) than retail stores was another bonus.

Everything about this jacket is great. Guess that's why it is a timeless classic. Fits great, keeps you warm, has good pockets, looks good too. By far the oldest jacket in my closet which means it is built to last.
