You won't catch The North Face ever resting on its laurels; even though the Women's Denali Jacket is one of the all-time top-selling fleece jackets, the company went and made it even better. A total commitment to eco-friendly materials now means fewer greenhouse gasses are deposited into the atmosphere when it is made. Of course, you'll still enjoy the versatility of this expedition-weight fleece, whether you're breaking new trails in your snowshoes or dashing across a chilly campus quad between classes.
Nylon abrasion panels protect the jacket from backpack straps, ski edges, and other wear-and-tear
Zip-in compatible, so you can layer it with a North Face shell for a day on the slopes
I really like the style of the jacket and the zippered pockets, but I do not like the "shedding" that happens with anything that I wear or anything I touch. I bought this in white heather and I love that it isn't *white*, so it doesn't show dirt/hair very easily, but everything that I wear ends up having white fuzz all over it. It also transfers to my husbands black fleece, so he ends up looking "dusty" all over if I give him a hug or touch his jacket at all with my fleece. I thought it would go away once I washed it, but it hasn't. I've even tried using a lint roller on it to see if it was just "loose" fleece that needed to be taken off, but that didn't help either. It's rather disappointing that it sheds so much.
I also feel like the size runs a bit big for me.
I wear this a lot though, because I do like the look and style of it. I just have to make sure not to wear dark color tops on days when I'm going to use this fleece.
I'm a 5'10" 130 lb. woman. I'm fairly thin, but long. Should I get the small or medium. Because I'm thin, I don't want the jacket to be really baggy, but at the same time, I need length in the arms and inseam.
This jacket is made from recyled fleece. Very warm 300 Polartec fleece works great for layering on really cold days under a shell or as a stand alone jacket if it is not really windy. Abrasion resistant material in areas of high wear, especially your backpack straps.
Probably the most stylish jacket that TNF makes. Cinch cords at the hems for custom fit. This fleece is a direct zip-in to many of the North Face shells.
The Cons: This fleece is very expensive and is not wind nor waterproof. The wind will cut right through this jacket if used as a stand alone. For full price I think there are better alternatives available if used for a technical jacket.
Edit on 1/10/11
I had an error in my original review. I posted that it had pit-zips like the Men's version but I just checked my wife's and that is not accurate. They do not have them, sorry for the mistake.

Hi, I'm a guy looking at getting this jacket in the white and grey. Do you think a guy could pull it off? I just like the women's colors over the dull men's ones and I generally like women's jackets and coats. Thanks! I have a pretty skinny profile at 6' and 155 lbs.
Hi there, I think you could! I'm a woman, 6' tall, and I NEVER find the womens jackets fit me right. I always have to go to mens. lol Sounds like we have different issues, but we need to do the "switch" to make it work. Go for it, I think it would be great!
Does the women's denali fleece jacket in the acoustic blue come in a hooded version?! If so where can i buy it online. Or in stores i really want it in the hooded version
Yes. Per the TNF website, they do have extended sizes in certain styles including the Denali Fleece Jacket... http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gear/womens-jackets-vests-filter-category-extended-sizes/womens-denali-jacket.html
Purchased jacket for my daughter for Christmas. This is her second Denali and she loves it! Maryland winters are cold but this is the jacket of her choice for going out and for school. Our girls have 6 North Face jackets and they love them!
Well, I finally got it in the grey and white for myself and I absolutely love it. It's probably the best fleece I've owned and I'm a guy! Great jacket and it seems that TNF always puts out solid products.
Hey Jennifer, sorry the sale price is still on the website. we have recently run out of the past season sale price jackets. that should be updated shortly.
I've always wanted a North face fleece, but they were always too expensive. I bought this in Loganberry Red, and I love it. It was shipped the night I ordered it, and I received it within a week. The jacket is incredibly soft and warm and I love it. I am 5'2" and I purchased the small, which fits perfectly. I will definitely be buying all of my North face products from backcountry. Thanks!
The price in the basket. When you go to select the color/size you want the price is there with it. It looks like last season's are the only ones on the sale.
I had a Denali Jacket for several years. It was my "go to" jacket - mountain trips, night out on the town or running errands. I recently went to find it and realized I lost it. I bought this new, updated version of it and LOVE it even more than my first one. I think the fit is updated - slimmer and more flattering. I highly recommend this jacket!
I love my new denali. It is super warm. A little too warm for early fall but I still love it. It was a great investment and will be very warm and cozy in the winter months. It does run on the big side. I struggled when ordering because I wasn't sure if I should order a L or XL. I'm usually a L but at the North Face store fit mostly XL. I read alot of reviews (which served to be true and most helpful) and went with the L. It fits great. It's not too fitted and I still have room to wear a few layers in the winter. Absolutely happy with my purchase!
Nice look but not as warm or functional as the Mountain Hardwear Monkey fleece. The different material at the shoulders prevents matting from seat belts or a purse strap. But these fleece jackets are not very warm. They are more stylish looking but I prefer the Mountain Hardwear Monkey fleece. I own two of the Denali and will probably get my daughter one simply because they are the in thing on college campuses or I will let her have one of mine since I rarely wear them. However, if you are looking for warmth and functionality I would check out Mountain Hardwear.
I received this as a Christmas gift and I love it! I got it in black with the pink letters. I absolutely love it. It's so warm and comfortable. It's great for layering and I was just out in the pouring rain and it didn't get soaked. I love this jacket! Warm & Stylish!! Now, I want the purple one! : )
It runs true to size, with a tendency to be just a bit roomy. I would stick to the normal size that you wear. If you generally wear a size small, then go for the size small in The North Face Denali Fleece Jacket. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Jeff Levin
Almost. Its like a very deep reddish-dark magenta color, and whenever i see a loganberry red northface jacket, i always think of wine (that is kind of close to what the color is) Its one of my favorite colors for a north face jacket
My mom is 64 years old and lives in Asheville, NC. She needs a jacket that can keep her warm in the wind and occasional rainy/snowy weather. She's not exercising in it, just walking around outside some. What do you recommend?
I am a 65 year old grandmother and just received my black Denali today. I bought my 18 year old granddaughter one last Christmas and she really loves hers. I can't wait for it to get a little chilly so I can wear mine. I loved hers.
The Denali doesn't block wind or handle rain well at all, but it does offer great insulation against cold. I will say this though- I bought one for my 72 year old Mom and she loves it. Wears it all the time, everywhere. If "Grandma" used terms like "go-to" piece, this is the one she would be talking about. Hope that helps.
LOVE IT!!! I was nervous about the color being to loud, but I'm very happy with it! I live in this jacket! Definitely keeps you warm, yet if there's a breeze out it lets you breathe as well. Definitely a great buy. Wish I had purchased one a long time ago!
Gail, you can use the "Chat Now" function or call 1-800-409-4502 and ask about availability. Another option if they do not have it is to buy directly from TNF.
Becky, this is not waterproof and is not windproof so I wouldn't recommend it for your cruise as a stand alone jacket. It would work fantastic with a waterproof shell over it and that is what most people do.
I love denali! I love Northface and I love backcountry!:) My third time to order from this site and I guess I'll be customer for life! I really adore TNF. love, love , love!<3 Wish it's much cheaper though....
I'm debating between TNF Denali and TNF Apex Bionic Softshell Jacket...can anyone offer suggestions, pros/cons on either one? I live in Central Ohio & have a down jacket for the very cold days. Thanks
Kay, it is hard to suggest one or the other because they are such different jackets. You can't beat the warmth of the Denali under a shell, on milder days or for lounging around. The Bionic is waterproof and more of a technical jacket IMO that can be used as a stand alone jacket in nasty wet weather.
Thanks!
The "white" color choice, does it have a grey upper portion or black? I see both colors on the pictures but the official color choices in the dropdown list just says "white"...
Ordered for my 14 year old daughter. She loves it. She's not overweight, but she is curvy. So we had to return the small I originally ordered and get a medium. She wears a size 4-6. Service from Backcountry was excellent. I had used a discount coupon on my original order and it would not allow me to use it again on my return/exchange, so I used the "chat" to speak with customer service. They were very helpful. Applied my discount and I received the new jacket quickly. I love shopping with backcountry. It is always a positive experience.
Hey I'm really digging the look. I was wondering since I'm 5 3' and 120 pounds, what size should I get? I was thinking another the xs but I don't want it too tight.
bought this from this site 8 years ago... loved it in college worked out perfect for me here in southern illinois! here is my question, i just ordered the new style... how has it changed on 8 years? i read there are no pit zips in the new one? any other changes. either way i'm sure i'll love it!
I love this jacket. My daughter got one for Christmas and after "borrowing" it a couple of times, I had to get my own. We both have the chocolate brown jacket and get lots of compliments. We live in the midwest and this jacket is perfect for us down to about 30 degrees. I also wear mine around the house just to keep warm indoors! Great jacket.....would have never bought one until I tried one. Backcountry has been great to work with and I will definitely order from them again!
The jacket was very nice. My daughter loved it. Backcountry made it possible for me to get it in time for Christmas. I have been buying from Backcountry for 2 years and I would recommend them to anyone.
I'm looking for a woman's charcoal/black denali size medium but I can't find it anywhere, it must be an old color combo, any suggestions on where I could get it? Do you think a men's small would be about the same as a woman's medium? Thanks!
Write your answer here... I have what you are looking for, brand new with tags. One tag says hoodie but it is not a hoodie. Does have zip-in capability. I need a larger size. It is all black and hgas the protective fabric over the fleece on elbows, shoulder and chest
i bought this jacket for my wife and she wears it all the time. i was suprised how warm this jacket kept her. this jacket looks good and not out of place when she is dressed nice for work or even in sweatpants on her way to a friends house. as a matter of fact, she likes it so much she now wants the hooded version.
This is a quality jacket with good heft and a comfortable feel. It is well tailored. I'm 5'6", 130 lbs. with an athletic build, and the medium fits me perfectly. This is a great buy at this price. Enjoy!
Do the new Denali Jackets run true to size. My daughter got one 6 years ago, it is a little tight now. I have read a lot of reviews on the trimmer fit. Should I go up one size or two. . Thanks
The fit change is not that drastic from the previous styling, about 1/4 inch smaller in the center back and shoulders. It sounds like going up one size should work for you.
Which will keep you warmer, TNF Denali or Patagonia classic retro-x? The Denali is a bit heavier but the Retro is windproof. How well does the Denali hold up if the wind picks up, most fleeces do not block wind at all. Trying to find out which will be warmer for my wife.
Great, Great Jacket. My only disappointment is that the XS size is too big for one of my Granddaughters. She's a very tall, and very thin young lady. I am so disappointed. I bought the same jacket for my other Granddaughter and she is in love with the jacket as am I.
Hi - this was my first North Face jacket purchase and so far I think it's just a very overpriced "it" jacket to have. I got the recycled weimaraner brown color and I've washed it according to the directions twice. It won't stop shedding lint off onto everything I wear. Let's just say I can't even wear it unless I carry a lint brush around with me. Has anyone else had this same problem? Did it eventually quit shedding? Had I known how bad it was I would've saved my money. Definitely not worth the big bucks if I can't even wear it.
That should not be happening w/ your jacket. North face should be lifetime guarenteed. I always keep there tags but you should be able to return it w/o.
I don't really know how it happened, but this jacket has exploded all over college and even high school campuses. TNF makes good stuff, and the 300 weight polartec fleece seems promising. So I bought this for my girlfriend who was very excited, she had to have it...like girls want the purse with a big C on it. Despite her desire to sport the TNF, she was constantly chilled from the wind. I'm not talking about blow your hat off kind of wind, but the hardly makes a wind chime sound kind of wind. So it seems this is mostly an insulating, indoor or very light wind area kind of fleece. I got her a nice wool jacket for xmas and the denali has sat in the bottom of the hamper ever since.
If the name on your clothes takes precedent over your comfort, buy it. If you like being warm and laughing at the wind and it's pathetic attempt to chill you, don't buy it.
Dick's Sporting Goods has the breast cancer awareness Denali jacket for women. It has the pink logo in the front and in the back, and also the breast cancer awareness symbol on the sleeve. Very cute!
Im 17, i love this jacket so much, no one has my color and it makes me unique, the color is actually a little lighter than the one in the picture. Great jacket. BUY IT
Many people make the mistake that this is a stand alone garment for winter tmperatures but it is not. It works great as a layer or for cool days but this is not going to keep you warm on it's own.
This jacket is definitely warm enough for winter wear, depending on conditions of course. If you are in severe winter temperatures, this jacket works as a great layering piece. Or if it's more moderate temperatures you can definitely get away with this and a t-shirt underneath. It really is gonna vary from person-to-person as well as conditions. 300 weight fleece is very warm though. You also get some DWR protections to help protect against a light rain.
it's on selected colors. If you notice in the column to the right when you chose your color, it has the prices right next to them - as you scan towards the bottom you will see the ones at the sales price and the sizes available at the sale price.
Great jacket! Exactly what I was looking for. Great price and terrific delivery time. Will definetly be using backcountry.com again. Have told friends about the site and they have also ordered!
I purchased these 2 jackets for my daughters. They were delivered within the time frame given. my daughter realized the jacket was too small. I called right away, because she was leaving for college and wanted to take it with her. I am sorry i do not remember the Young ladies' name I spoke with. I will tell you she was polite and courteous and understood my need to have this jacket quick. She upgraded my shipping free of charge. My daughter had this jacket in her hands the night before she left for school. You guys are great! would not hesitate to order from you again! Keep up the great work!
I ordered the black Denali Jacket with bright pink zippers, when I opened my package I was shocked to see the zipperes werent all pink. The chest and pocket zippers were pink but the main zipper than runs down the middle of the jacket was not, it was black. That was a big let down for me, as the bright pink colored zippers were the main reason for this purchase. When I spoke with a customer service rep, he said North Face was notorious for posting pics of merchandise with different colored zippers than the original. He was going to get the image changed but when buying online you only have the image to go by so I was a little dissapointed with my first experience here.
I love North Face and have many clothing items. I was quite disappointed by Denali Fleece Jacket. I did not find it to be very warm and did not protect from cold, forget it if the wind is blowing, the wind goes right thru the jacket. I have many other brand jackets in same category and neither to my experience, performed as poorly. for the price, and if you are an outdoor person, I would not recommend this at all.
Just got my North Face today in Alpine Blue. I absolutely love it! The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the package was how soft it is. It fits perfectly, and it's very warm. I believe this is a great jacket for the price.
It's warm, it looks great, it's my second one. My other one has a hood. It was worth it to me to pay a little more (for the quality of a NF item), it's been a cold winter.
I BOUGHT THIS NEW RECYCLED FLEECE JACKET BECAUSE MY FRIEND KEPT TELLING ME HOW NICE AND WARM THEY ARE. ALSO BOUGHT ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER FOR CHRISTMAS. WE WERE BOTH VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WARMTH. IT WAS 25 AND SNOW. WE WENT TO A MUSEUM AND WERE COLD WALKING INTO THE BUILDING AND ALSO A LITTLE CHILLY INSIDE THE BUILDING. I DID NOT FIND THIS JACKET ANY WARMER THAN ANY OTHE FLEECE JACKET I CAN GET AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE.
This was a Christmas gift for my older sister. She previously has owned a Denali jacket, and has loved it to death- literally. She somehow managed to leave an iron on top of it. Granted if the jacket was iron proof, she still would have her original jacket. The point of that story is, these jackets are very durable.
I got a Med and it is definitely more of a fitted fleece jacket. If I were to wear any longsleeve top, then it would feel a little tight b/c the fit in the armpit area is a little snug. I also have a Pumori fleece which is a much looser fit which is more comfy to me.

Are y'all getting more jackets before the sale ends. I would really like to by the R Black Small for 82.48 but it says you are out of stock? Also, when does the sale end?
I've been wanting one of these but never got around to getting one (price didn't help). Finally got one recently and it was worth the wait. The alba green one I got was actually much nicer color than I expected (not a big green fan, but liking this one). I'm about 5'4" and 130 lbs, and the size small fits nicely. It's actually quite loose all around. The only place that seems tighter is in the hips, but it's still loose enough. The jacket quality itself has been reviewed to death here, so I'll just say "I agree".
I just moved to minnesota from california and have heard the winters here can get below zero. Would a windproof jacket layered on top of this northface jacket be enough? Or is this jacket best for 20 degrees (ish) if worn alone?
my sister and i both own this jacket and live in michigan. its nice for cold days when you are doing errands and its really hot inside. for the below zero days... just get a down jacket.
I grew up enduring Chicago winters and in my opinion no that wouldn't be enough..I strongly recommend the north face arctic parka..nice, long, wind and water proof down feminine cut parka that is nuclear warm..it's the only coat that can keep me warm in freezing temps..I've tried tnf oso hoody (heavy high loft fleece) under a shell..not nearly as warm as the arctic parka. This denali worn alone is good down to about 45 for me.
I ordered the North Face Denali in the Heather Pink in a Small and I am 5-7 and 130 pounds. Fit perfectly! I ordered it before the cold weather started so I can't say how it works in the cold, but I have heard nothing but great things. Backcountry shipped my product quickly and I even got free shipping! I am very impressed! Will order through Backcountry again for sure!
Simple enough. This is last year's model, and the logo was placed above the pocket. On this year's, the logo is on the pocket. Probably not a concern that's worth an extra $80 for what amounts to essentially the same jacket.
Backcountry.com hands down the best place to roam for gear! As for the jacket sisters love them, living in the Mid west you need a reliable jacket, and this one fits the bill. And WOW the service you get. My order was on the doorstep 24hrs after I ordered, I will most definetly be giving backcountry business again!! Hope this helps!!
Neither the Resolve or Venture are zip-in compatible, but the Denali will work with those North Face pieces that are.
For zip-in compatibility, you should check out the Varius Guide jacket: http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/The-North-Face-Varius-Guide-Jacket-Womens/TNF4719M.html
I bought this jacket in a medium on sale. They do run big. Probably should have gotten a large but they didn't have one in a color I would want. I'm 5"2" and 150 and usually have to buy a large or xlarge. I've always wanted a denali jacket but could never get past the price. It's great if you get cold easily although I wouldn't want to layer underneath a shell because it is kind of bulky. It's also quite short in the waist so tall girls may want to try one on before they order. I like the nylon around the shoulders. I haven't experienced any wear issues on the jacket from using a backpack in the winter while snowshoeing. You can heat up fast in it. I find myself stripping out of it on cold sunny days but if it's windy you'll probably keep it on.
I am dying to order this jacket but I am unsure what size to get. I am 5'7 and weight 120 pounds. I cannot decide wether to order the women's small or medium. I know the extra small arm length is too short and it is also too small for my torso. I don't want it to look to tight on me but I also don't want it to look baggy. What size should I order?
Hi there! Sarah LT on April 1st, 2009 (bout half way down this page) said this in her review: "To repeat what has been said 100 times: it's boxy. I am 5'7" and 125 lbs, and a S fits well in every way except that the sleeves are a bit short. Not good while bike-riding (sleeve ride-up). It's definitely not cut for slim figures -- to get it to fit my torso I have to deal with short sleeves." Hope that helps!
This is a nice jacket, and very warm, but I found the sleeve length to be too short for me. I went with my normal size (small), which seemed generously sized through the torso. I have short arms and usually have trouble with the sleves being too long, so I was surprised that the sleeves were too short.
