Some three-in-one jackets leave you with a zip-out liner that can only be worn on its own when the weather is dry and calm. Not so with The North Face Condor Triclimate Jacket.
Zip-out Apex ClimateBlock softshell helps block wind and wetness
HyVent 2L shell fabric and taped critical seams deal with snow and slush
Underarm zip vents release excess heat
Removable hood reduces bulk when the skies are clear
After purchasing the jacket, I went snow skiing and was very disappointed. The liner leaves the zipper exposed and rubs against your neck/chin, which is very annoying, not to mention cold. Other than that, the jacket performed as indicated.

Hey John, from one Canadian to the next, I don't consider this a winter jacket. Generally speaking I find the use of softshells as insulation layers inadequate when the temp hits -15 as it so often does in our country. My advice would be to look for a a 3-in-1 jacket (if that's what you like) with a thick fleece or down liner. That'll keep you much warmer when you're out about town.
I bought this jacket in a medium for my 16-yr-old son who is 6 ft tall, approximately 145 lbs. The length (body, sleeves) was great but it was WAY too big around the midsection. The small would be too short. I was going to return it but my husband (5'10", 165 lbs) tried it on and it was an excellent fit for him. Plus it is a very warm jacket for midwestern cold winter days.
Around how cold in Fahrenheit would this jacket still keep me warm? I am interested in getting a 3-1 North Face for spring and winter... is this the right one for me? if not which is? Thanks!
Evan - I wearing this jacket in Milwaukee. It's been ranging between 5 and 15 degrees of late and the jacket keeps me warm... although I do also wear a couple of layers underneath. the 3-1s are ideal for spring/winter though... the combined jacket works well in winter... in cooler springs, you can wear the inner over a sweater or so, and in the outer will work really well against rain. Hope this helps.
I live in the south where it gets cold but not unbearable. This jacket offers every single need I could possibly have. The outer-shell is great for rain, the inner-shell is great for colder days. When you put them together, you have a complete jacket that will keep you warm in almost any situation and any climate. One problem is there is no outside pocket on either jacket besides the hand pockets. Overall, great jacket, worth the money, and everyone should own one of these of given the chance
Interested in purchasing this jacket. I'm 6'4" and thin. Wear an XL denali fleece so would fit be about the same? Also would this jacket be zip in compatible with my denali fleeces?
Fits well. keeps you warm but is not heavy. I use it for snowboarding and it does the trick. I wear the inner jacket everywhere. I love this jacket it is a little pricey but what can you do. Thumbs up.
when i put this in my cart it was no longer on sale. im guessing the sale ended at midnight but i couldnt find the date and time listed anywhere. Is the sale over?

Any chance this jacket comes in 'Tall' sizes? I'm 6'7" and the XXL is not long enough. If not, does anybody know of a good jacket out there that does come in 'Tall' sizes?
The first one I bought had a problematic zipper on the outershell and would not undo... the replacement is perfect.
I bought the jacket knowing that I needed something decent for winters in Wisconsin. It's not as warm as I was expecting it to be but then since you can interchange the inner, you can customise. The innershell is the Apex material, so is weatherproof and looks good when it's worn alone. The outer feels like it would withstand anything that mother nature would throw at it... although I find the neck to be a little narrow, especially if a scarf is being worn.
condor triclimate vs vortex triclimate. Want something warm and windproof....college campus is windy even in Sept. Want something lightweight but can do the trick. Can't decide from the marketing info what the real differences are other than the hood and # of pockets.
I can't speak to the Vortex, but the Condor is definitely lightweight. the outer shell is Hyvent... I often wear this over a thick sweater and am completely warm. I especially like the inner shell... it's the Apex material which again is wind proof... if the temps aren't too low, you could probably get away with wearing just this.
I got this for my boyfriend, who spends a lot of time kayaking in California, but also a great deal of time in the mountains in Colorado. He said the inner soft shell is great for wearing around town in Cali and it also very water resistant for kayaking. On the warmer winter days in Colorado, he leaves the softshell in, but when it gets really cold (around zero) he takes the soft shell out and zips in a North Face fleece. That is one of our favorite feature of Northface! I have this jacket and zip in a down layer when I want to make it warmer. It's so nice that you can mix and match north face products as long as they are the same size (and made after 2000 - if made before then, the zippers will be different).
I'm your height and 262 pounds, and I have an XXL. I would have preferred a little more room; I can't wear more than two light layers (silk underwear and a t-shirt) or maybe just a light sweatshirt underneath it without it feeling too tight. Very warm and water/windproof, though.
I have owned this jacket for about two months now and I would definitely recommend it. So far this jacket has everything from torrential downpours to a few -15+ degree weather out in Colorado. It is not the most insulated jacket around but the fact that it is water/wind proof and has a separate inner lining is what does the trick.
I am 6'3 250 and this jacket fits me just fine.
If you purchase this jacket you will not regret it.
Gave this to the bf's dad for Christmas and he loves it! Could have sized up to the XL maybe as the liner inside makes the jacket fit a little tighter than a shell alone but the Softshell jacket has a nice fitted look in a Large. He also likes the removable hood since he usually skis with a helmet.
I bought this jacket about a month ago, and so far i love it. I've found its just the right weight, and does an excellent job of blocking the wind and rain. The sizeing was pretty accurate, other then the shoulders. i am a fairly small guy, but i still found that the jacket could have been a little wider in the shoulders. otherwise it fits great. Well worth the money.
Amazing North Face jacket!! I live in Chicago and the weather can get brutal pretty early on. So far I have only worn the outer shell and have been fine with a t-shirt underneath, in temps around 30 degrees. The "Pit Zips" are key with this jacket. For sure the most versatile jacket I have ever owned, It covers all seasons.
This jacket is absolutely worth every penny. I wish I had more time to type out a full review, but take my word for it - this jacket is a legitimate 3-in-1 powerhouse.
Uses: I use this at work/office, on campus/at school, and on the slope snowboarding. It has yet to let me down in any condition. And by let me down, I mean it keeps me toasty and dry! The inner jacket is a great soft shell by itself. The outer jacket is, in every way, weather proof.
Fit: I'm a smaller guy, measuring in at 130lb and 5'6" tall. I ordered the small and it fits pretty well. Could be a little more snug, but it definitely works none-the-less. The inner soft-shell has longer sleeves, which is a great change from my old 3-in-1 jacket where the sleeves were too short. Overall, great fit.
Cannot say it enough, this jacket is worth every penny! (Jacket pictured in black to the left in the attached photo)
