Bottom Line: The Denali Jacket keeps parents happy and kids warm.
I am 29 years old, 5'1" and 101 lbs. I wear a women's small in the Osito jacket and it fits perfectly. Would I take the large or extra large in the girl's size?
I purchased 2 Denali Fleece jackets for my daughters and a down jacket for myself. Backcountry had the best prices on all 3 items, shipping was super quick, and I am so pleased. I will definitely order from Backcountry again.

I am 24 years old, 5'2 and around 120-125lbs. I have the jacket in a girl's XL and to tell the truth I wish I had the L. The XL is a little too long length-wise. It is still a great jacket but I would definitely like it if it were a little shorter (like maybe hitting just below the hip or at the hip--now it hits more like a hooded sweatshirt or something and comes down below the butt).
But if you are buying for a teenager, they may not be done growing so the XL may be the way to go. But they also may be very lanky and it might eat them up!
I just ordered the girls XL and I am very pleased with it. I am 5' 2 and I have enough room in it to wear a sweater underneath it. I ordered the girls down jacket XL last winter, and I couldn't be happier. The size is such that I would probably have ordered a women's medium, and I certainly saved quite a bit of money.
Bought this jacket for my daughter, she is very picky, about feel and puffiness. This jacket feels soft, and is no where near puffy and keeps her very warm in our chilly east coast temperatures. Loved this so much just purchased 2 more for my boys.
This is our 4th NF Denali that we have purchased for our family and still the biggest fans. You can't find better quality. This latest one I purchased was for my daughter and she is 52" and I ordered the medium. It is a little roomy, but not tacky looking. She will for sure get to wear for a couple of years. I originally ordered the wrong size and had to return. Backcountry did a great job of making the exchange and I received the 2nd one very quickly. Their customer service is the best and you won't be disappointed!
Im 15 years old. im 4'11'' and weigh about 95 pounds. im really confused on what size to get. should i get a girls or womans? if i get a girls medium, i read previous comments that said the sleeves were a little short. please help me !
xs size what would you think weight size and height that would fit? I have a ladies small and I am 90 lbs. My son is 80 lbs what would be the size for him before I order?
It really depends on sleeve length and chest size and waist size of the individual for jackets...Everyone cares weight differently so its hard to say...
Bought the XL as a present for my wife...fits great and she absolutely loves it. Backcountry.com is a great site! I will definitely be ordering more gear from here in the future!
Got this jacket for my daughter and she loves it. It's everything a mom wants - very versatile and practical, and it's everything a 12 year old wants - stylish. Thanks once again Back Country for your great service.
My daughter loves her fleece - and I love the great deal: fast, free shipping clinched the deal for me, along with the reliabillity. I'll be back to Back Country!
Depends on where you live? The company is based out of Salt Lake City,UT and things ship out of there...If you order it before Christmas it might take longer and it depends on which shipping you choose...
For a long time I wondered what all the fuss was about The North Face, but after ordering this fleece jacket, I'm sold! I'm normally a Ladies' Medium, so ordered a Girls' XL and I am very pleased with the fit. It's really comfy and so warm that I can wear it as a regular jacket even when it's freezing outside. Free shipping & prompt delivery sweetened the deal!
I would agree with Mike as well. Backcountry.com is phenomenal with their delivery as well as returns/warranty if you have any problems at all. I have never had a problem with their service and they are my prefered mode of purchasing my gear.
Yes I have ordered well over $1,000 worth of gear from them...I have never had an issue...This is the best company I have ever dealt with...They are fast at getting your stuff shipped out the door and on its way to your place...
I will start out by telling you that I thought the jacket was a little expensive for a fleece type coat, but, my daughter just had to have it!! She, of course had to have the green, which was a little difficult to find. She wanted the coat so much, she used some of her birthday money and paid for half the price of the coat!!!! She is 12 and not a big girl, and we first ordered an children's large....it fit but the sleeves were a little short, so check the sleeve length when ordering. We reordered the extra Large and She just loves and and now it will fit her in the Fall.
My daughter was so excited to find the jacket she had been wanting for some time. She was even more excited when it arrived just a few days after we placed the order. She has gotten lots of compliments on it. Great service!!
I ordered this jacket for my daughter right after christmas because the jacket i had originally ordered from another company on the internet showed it to be in stock and then found out a week later, it wasn't. She is a freshman at UT Austin where the weather is usually warm but this year its been really cold. She has worn the heck out of this jacket already and loves it. I ordered the xl in girls to save money and it fits great!!!
I'm interested in buying the girls Medium. I am 5'2 and 100 pounds. I'm between the medium and large but I'm mostly concerned about how long the sleeves are for this size. Can someone help me determine the sleeve length? Thank you!
i am 5"2, and 103 pounds. before ordering my girls northface jacket i went into dicks sporting goods to try them on for size. The large fit but the selves were still a little to short. I went for the xl and it fits perfect. I am going to get a pull string put into it just like the womens northface denali has.
I am really enjoying my Denali fleece jacket. It is lightweight yet very warm. I also like the soft blue color. I anticipate wearing this jacket A LOT!!!
when i ordered a northface jacket it finaly got here i was so exited.but it was the wrong size so i sent it back and wrote my color and refund on it and they were soo nice they sent me another for no extra than i already paid so i didnt have to pay anymore. sincerly, nancy-clare
My daughter is 8 years old She uually wears girl medium. I'd like to buy this jacket for her and would like to last for a couple of years (at least 2 years) Would Large be too big?
I think large might be too big. Remember, medium is based on girls that are 10-12 years old so I think if she wears a size 8-10 in clothing, the medium would be a great size and last at least two years.
They both fit in children's size large. The extra large was too big and the medium came to short on the waist and arm length. They love their jackets. Weight between 107 - 120 lbs.
I purchased this jacket for my daughter for Christmas and I can barely get her to take it off! The color is gorgeous (Orchid Purple) and she was so thrilled to receive it! The North Face products are well worth the money.
I'm a fifteen year old teen. I am 5' 1" and i weight 95-100 pounds. I wear a x-small in teenage size. I'm confused about if I should get a XL or L. Which size should i get for a nice fit?
I am 5'4 and 140lb women and can wear the XL in the girl size and it fits perfect. If you are 5'1 and not even 100 lbs the medium would fit you just right. Good luck!
im exactlyy the same size and age as you!!!!! wow this is liek unbelievable i had the same question so i trid them on in the store and kids large fits best, xl is wayy to big
I purchased this jacket for my daughter and she LOVES it. So comfortable and warm without weighing her down like some heavy jackets can do. I am thinking about getting one for myself...in a bigger size.
My brother recently got a TNF jacket. Now I want one. It is getting to be summer though so I would like to get one by next fall. I was planning to get it right before winter, but my brother says that this is the best time to get one. He says that it will be on sale. I checked and it isn't. Is there a time where this jacket will be on sale? Because then I'll get it during that time. Thank you in advance.
Hello again. I am really wondering if I should get a L or XL. I am 5'1 and 90lbs. However I might layer and I like it being slightly large. What size should I get???????
I am pretty sure that I will have to get a L or XL, but I am very interested in getting a brown one. I do know though that it is discontinued. It doesn't have any L or XL. Is there any way I can get one? If I can't I'll just get a blue one. Thanks.
Ordered this jacket on a Monday evening and got it by Friday afternoon!!! GREAT service! I'm 5'3" 130 lbs and ordered a girls XL....fits just fine! Only complaint is that the arms are a tad short. Other than that--buy it!
i got my jacket right on time, really great. i would be a womens small( 5'3", 110lbs) but the girls XL fits great. nice color, i get compliments on the color all the time! great product!
I really want this jacket but I don't know which size to get at all. I heard that it's kind of boxy but i want it little more fitted. i'm about 5'3 or 5'4 and about 120lb.
I am only 5'and about 110 and I purchased an XL. It is a little big but I like it that way because I always layer underneath. It does fall below my hips and that is a good thing. I could have gotten away with a large but I like my coat roomy.
My Fiance loves this Fleece and it fits her great! She is always cold, it this keeps her warm. The hood is lined with really soft fur as well! Thanks for the great service and follow up.

Very happy with our purchase. Great price and free shipping. Our whole family has the denali jackets. They last a long time and are great year round. My kids wear them seriously year round. It was the first time buying from Backcountry and we will be using them in the future.
I'm around 5'2 and 110lbs. I ordered the youth large and had to send it back as the sleeves were a bit too short for me. I reordered the youth XL and am very happy with it.
Love this jacket. I originally bought an x-small in womens but found it to be a little big on me. I am 5'1 so I ordered and found that the large in the Girls Denali Jacket fit me really nice. The sleeves are a tad short but much better fit than the womens x-small. Great jacket.
I bought this jacket for my 7 year old twin. I couldn't decide to buy the small or medium. My girls are tall but very thin and I wanted this to fit them for some time. I went with the small and am very happy that I did, they have plenty of room. They should fit for a few years. My girls also like the fact that the jacket is not bulky but still warm:)
my daughter is about 4'11 and weighs about 80 lbs. what size would be good for her - I'd like her to be able to wear it for a while, but not be too big.
I was so pleased when my North Face Denali jacket came in the mail! It was in excellent condition, and arrived the exact day it was projected to arrive; it has been a wonderful! It got here just in time, as the cool weather of fall has been getting colder and colder lately. It is very warm, but light and not bulky. I am a petite size medium and I have plenty of room in the Girl's XL. Thanks for a great experience!
The only place the word "refurbished" appears on this page is in your question. If you're referring to the recycled fleece, then neither. It means that old fleeces that were sent in were melted down to create new fabric, which is less wasteful.
Bought this for my daughter, she loves it. She is very active and it provides the warmth she needs without all the bulk. She is tall and thin but the jacket ran true to size. You can't go wrong with this.
My young teen age daughter is 5'6" and weighs 90 lbs. She is short waisted--mostly all leg :). What size would you advise to get her that would fit best. Thank you.
I bought this coat for my daughter. She loves it. It's very lightweight, but still keeps her warm. The only thing you may want to consider before buying is that the black attracts lots of lint. With that said, my daughter still loves the black. Very satisfied!
Hi Amy - The Denali Thermal is a high-loft fleece that is really soft, and has a little better thermal properties (slightly warmer) - were the regular Denali is a traditional pile fleece. Hope this helps
I bought this coat for my daughter. It is lightweight, but still keeps her warm. She wears it as her only winter coat in this cold New England area, although she rarely spends extended periods of time outdoors. She loves it!
My question, my Daughter is 12 years old and probably 4'10 and 74.3 pounds>i know a little to skinny? or under weight. But im wondering if she should get xxs? but im afraid the sleeve's might be short. Shes also very thin tall skinny. Other than that where can you buy this. i really dont have time to order this on the internet. Will you get these jackets at like big five sporting goods? or cabelas? i'm not sure thats why i asked, but im just afraid that these store sells for adults. but like i said my daughter is very small and thin. Any help?
I have an 8 year old girl, about 50 inches tall, weighting 75-78 lbs. I purchased the North Face Denali size M and it fits perfectly. She loves this jackets and wants to wear it all the time. You can safely buy it from Backcountry.com, their shipping was extremely fast even during the holidays or you can find it at Stores like Dicks Sporting Goods or other Outdoors Retailers.
im 5'6 and about 135 lbs (not chunky though) and this jacket fits veryyy well i have the pink/grey and the black. my boyfriend got me the all white fuzzy one in an adult Medium and it fits the same! :)
I am 5' 3" 130 lbs and ordered a girls XL. I would normally wear a S or M women's size. These arms are a tad short (nothing noticeable, I'm just picky) but other than that it is great!
My 13 yo daughter is 5'6 and about 100-105 lbs but don't let the stats fool you. She's a gymnast so her chest is wider than most. She likes her coat to be fitted in the waist. Any ideas on the size?
My daugter is 12 and weighs around 110 pounds. She normally wears a girls 16 or an adult XS. Ioriginally ordered the XL and it was huge. the large fits perfectly and even gives her some growing room.
Hi Currie - that isn't quite enough info to help - could you give height and weight? Do you know generally what size she is in youth sizing? 12 or 14 or something along those lines? Happy to help with a little more info-
My oldest granddaughter has this jacket and loves it. She is 15 years old. My 9 year old wants this for Christmas. She sent me the URL for this jacket so I'd be sure to get the one she wanted. I have it wrapped and under the tree. At Thanksgiving she came up to me and said "what size did you order?" She knew she'd get the jacket! She can't wait to open the box and tells everyone what's inside. She loves to wear my 15 years old granddaughter's jacket even though it way to big for her. She said everyone needs a North Face jacket!
I have a granddaughter that is 12 yrs. old. She is tall and thin. Probably takes a 12-14 girls jacket. Is you small or medium kids jacket the right size?
Purchased the denali for my 10 yr old daughter and I purchased one for myself they are perfect. Warm and lightweight. She is very petite and does not like anything heavy, she puts it on without a fuss. Good service from Backcountry.
My 11 year old daughter wanted this so bad, but I thought it was too expensive. I didn't realize that it is the fashion must have for middle schoolers! I came across it here at a closeout price that was too good to pass up! She wanted black and I bought her the large and it is perfect. She is not a very big girl, only weighs about 85 lbs (maybe) and the large fits her great with some room to grow. Ended up buying another one for my 10 year old and then broke down and even bought myself one. It is not waterproof and only wind resistant so we will have to see how it is when it gets really cold and wet here in the Northwest, but so far everybody is happy.
I'm thinking that the XL girls is going to be a little small - I would look at the small or medium in the ladies depending on how you like your jackets to fit. The Denali does run a little on the large side, so you may want to check the small out. Hope this helps
I bought this jacket for my 15 year old. The coat was soft, great price, however I purchased an XL since the size chart told me that was the correct size. This coat was huge! I bought her twin sister an adult XS and the coat fit perfect. Buying an XL is equal to an adult M. Also, the fit was not the same. The kids coat is different from the adult. It is Boxier, doesn't have the same features. I ended up buying another XS adult and keeping the XL for myself. Again..The price was GREAT. Coat would be perfect for kids who can't tell the difference.
yep, you can buy it here for a great price. :) http://www.masseysoutfitters.com/shop/product.asp?pf_id=PAAAIAMMIDDPNPCP&src=ca&&ad_id=[site%20name]&KEY_ID=[UPC]
I got a XL girl's even I am 21 and 5'5 and 120lbs. It looks BIG on me, especially the shoulder part, so wide. I am gonna exchange it for a L and hope it fits better.
I am 5'3", 110 pounds, and a 32DD. I was wondering if I should get a Large in girls or a Extra Large. I want the jacket to fit well but not TOO TOO snug so i can wear, for example, a small hoodie underneath. which should i get?
I bought this fleece for my 10 year old daughter; she's about 70-75lbs and about 4'6''. The medium fits her well - it's a little big so she can wear a couple of layers underneath and it should fit for a while. I think the large will be too small for you.
My daughter wanted the jacket so I let her try them on at the mall. I decided the childrens XL was plenty big even tho she's a teen. Just a bit longer but I think it will keep her warmer. I told my friend and she bought the L child for her daughter and they are both thrilled with their Christmas presents. I made sure the free shipping meant on time for Christmas and I ordered in time so standard was good. Got it a week early. Love your site!
Hi, I am 5'3, 108 lbs and wear a women's extra-small. Do you think a girls large or medium is better for me? I tend to have to wear women's petite jackets as my shoulders are really narrow.
I got this jacket for my daughter and also bought the kids size XL instead of women's small. The fit was slightly baggy but fine overall and the sleeve length was ok, too. she is very happy with the jacket and wears it almost everyday and says it is very warm. Would definitely recommend Backcountry to a friend.
I ordered this for my daughter for christmas, I had ordered an XL, to big, sent it back and got a L fits her perfect and she absolutly loves it. I would recommend it to anyone. Now my Mom and oldest daughter want one. I will use Back country again.
I am 16 and 4feet 10innches I was wondering if the girls size medium would fit me even though I wear a size D bra. I have an adult xs but its a little big.
I am 26, 4'11'' and wear a size 30D or 30DD. I have The North Face Khumbu Fleece Jacket in a Girls' size Medium. It fits well across the chest/waist, but the sleeves are a bit short for my liking. I would purchase a large or x-large so that the sleeves would be a little longer.
As mentioned here, the kids sizes are boxy (i.e. big in the shoulders). I couldn't size down or the sleeves would be too short, so I sewed an extra seam on the inside of the top shoulder and that fixed the problem. I think North Face really needs to rethink the proportions for kids, however.
The shoulders are huge on these North Face kids jackets! I can't imagine what child they're using as a model. It seems like the women's clothes are better proportioned.
I'm considering ordering a chilrens XL vs. an adult small. Problem is there is no sleeve length given in the childrens sizes. What is the length for an girls XL anyone?
I purchased 2 Denali Fleece jackets for my daughters and a down jacket for myself. Backcountry had the best prices on all 3 items, shipping was super more...
