The North Face built the Girls' Denali Fleece Jacket to be durable so it stands up to the abuses of youthful pursuits. Whether you're looking for an extra layer for your little ripper or simply searching for a solid winter jacket to keep your child warm on the way to school, the Denali will surpass your expectations. The Denali features two zippered hand-warmer pockets and a fleecy chin guard to keep kids warm and comfortable. A reflective element gives parents peace of mind. The Denali zips into any of The North Face shells to create a complete insulated winter jacket. * Sleeves cut short to fit children.

  • Note: To be kinder to the environment, The North Face now manufactures all Denali Jackets with recycled Polartec 300 fleece. Colors with an 'R' in front of the name feature recycled fleece.

Bottom Line: The Denali Jacket keeps parents happy and kids warm.

I am 5'2 and about 120

By:
November 18, 2008

I am 24 years old, 5'2 and around 120-125lbs. I have the jacket in a girl's XL and to tell the truth I wish I had the L. The XL is a little too long length-wise. It is still a great jacket but I would definitely like it if it were a little shorter (like maybe hitting just below the hip or at the hip--now it hits more like a hooded sweatshirt or something and comes down below the butt).

But if you are buying for a teenager, they may not be done growing so the XL may be the way to go. But they also may be very lanky and it might eat them up!

The North Face Denali Fleece

By:
October 8, 2009

I just ordered the girls XL and I am very pleased with it. I am 5' 2 and I have enough room in it to wear a sweater underneath it. I ordered the girls down jacket XL last winter, and I couldn't be happier. The size is such that I would probably have ordered a women's medium, and I certainly saved quite a bit of money.

Denali dream

By:
January 4, 2007

Bought this jacket for my daughter, she is very picky, about feel and puffiness. This jacket feels soft, and is no where near puffy and keeps her very warm in our chilly east coast temperatures. Loved this so much just purchased 2 more for my boys.

Fan of Denali's

By:
March 28, 2010

This is our 4th NF Denali that we have purchased for our family and still the biggest fans. You can't find better quality. This latest one I purchased was for my daughter and she is 52" and I ordered the medium. It is a little roomy, but not tacky looking. She will for sure get to wear for a couple of years. I originally ordered the wrong size and had to return. Backcountry did a great job of making the exchange and I received the 2nd one very quickly. Their customer service is the best and you won't be disappointed!

My daughter had to have this coat!!

By:
May 9, 2007

I will start out by telling you that I thought the jacket was a little expensive for a fleece type coat, but, my daughter just had to have it!! She, of course had to have the green, which was a little difficult to find. She wanted the coat so much, she used some of her birthday money and paid for half the price of the coat!!!! She is 12 and not a big girl, and we first ordered an children's large....it fit but the sleeves were a little short, so check the sleeve length when ordering. We reordered the extra Large and She just loves and and now it will fit her in the Fall.

I bought this jacket for my 7 year old twin. I couldn't decide to buy the small or medium. My girls are tall but very thin and I wanted this to fit them for some time. I went with the small and am very happy that I did, they have plenty of room. They should fit for a few years. My girls also like the fact that the jacket is not bulky but still warm:)

Girls North Face Denali Jacket

By:
October 25, 2006

I was so pleased when my North Face Denali jacket came in the mail! It was in excellent condition, and arrived the exact day it was projected to arrive; it has been a wonderful! It got here just in time, as the cool weather of fall has been getting colder and colder lately. It is very warm, but light and not bulky. I am a petite size medium and I have plenty of room in the Girl's XL. Thanks for a great experience!

The only place the word "refurbished" appears on this page is in your question. If you're referring to the recycled fleece, then neither. It means that old fleeces that were sent in were melted down to create new fabric, which is less wasteful.

You can safely buy it from Backcountry.com, their shipping was extremely fast even during the holidays or you can find it at Stores like Dicks Sporting Goods or other Outdoors Retailers.

I bought this from my granddaughter.

By:
December 15, 2009

My oldest granddaughter has this jacket and loves it. She is 15 years old. My 9 year old wants this for Christmas. She sent me the URL for this jacket so I'd be sure to get the one she wanted. I have it wrapped and under the tree. At Thanksgiving she came up to me and said "what size did you order?" She knew she'd get the jacket! She can't wait to open the box and tells everyone what's inside. She loves to wear my 15 years old granddaughter's jacket even though it way to big for her. She said everyone needs a North Face jacket!

My girls love it!!

By:
November 7, 2009

My 11 year old daughter wanted this so bad, but I thought it was too expensive. I didn't realize that it is the fashion must have for middle schoolers! I came across it here at a closeout price that was too good to pass up! She wanted black and I bought her the large and it is perfect. She is not a very big girl, only weighs about 85 lbs (maybe) and the large fits her great with some room to grow. Ended up buying another one for my 10 year old and then broke down and even bought myself one. It is not waterproof and only wind resistant so we will have to see how it is when it gets really cold and wet here in the Northwest, but so far everybody is happy.

Hi Meg,

I'm thinking that the XL girls is going to be a little small - I would look at the small or medium in the ladies depending on how you like your jackets to fit. The Denali does run a little on the large side, so you may want to check the small out.

Jacket is nice but...

By:
November 7, 2009

I bought this jacket for my 15 year old. The coat was soft, great price, however I purchased an XL since the size chart told me that was the correct size. This coat was huge! I bought her twin sister an adult XS and the coat fit perfect. Buying an XL is equal to an adult M. Also, the fit was not the same. The kids coat is different from the adult. It is Boxier, doesn't have the same features. I ended up buying another XS adult and keeping the XL for myself. Again..The price was GREAT. Coat would be perfect for kids who can't tell the difference.

Daughters jacket

By:
December 30, 2008

My daughter wanted the jacket so I let her try them on at the mall. I decided the childrens XL was plenty big even tho she's a teen. Just a bit longer but I think it will keep her warmer. I told my friend and she bought the L child for her daughter and they are both thrilled with their Christmas presents. I made sure the free shipping meant on time for Christmas and I ordered in time so standard was good. Got it a week early. Love your site!

big shoulders

By:
April 8, 2009

As mentioned here, the kids sizes are boxy (i.e. big in the shoulders). I couldn't size down or the sleeves would be too short, so I sewed an extra seam on the inside of the top shoulder and that fixed the problem. I think North Face really needs to rethink the proportions for kids, however.
