Description

Bathing in the backcountry = win.

A mesh liner, integrated belt, 6-inch inseam, DWR treatment, and durable peached nylon fabric make The North Face Class V Trunk a favorite swim trunk for somebody who likes to take a dip in less-frequented areas. The Class V fabric holds up to rock scrapes and paddling trips, and the gusseted crotch allows for plenty of movement if you're taking a dip on a long hike. Just for fun, TNF gave the fabric a water-activated print, so you go into the water wearing one short, and come out wearing something completely different. Cool!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought these for my husband. I was concerned he wouldn't like the appearing logo when wet design, but it wasn't an issue since the fabric never changed in the water. He really like the swim trunks. They fit well, are comfortable, and dry quickly. He wore them recently on a tropical vacation almost every day without issue.

Nice fit, dries quick and made well. Only gave 4 stars because the belt is way too long on these shorts.

Great shorts

Great material to these shorts..very soft, easy to move in. Great pockets, and comfortable liner (should you choose to leave it). 5'11 and wear 33" waist in pants, and the Medium is good. I have the 8" and it's plenty of coverage, ending just a bit above knee. No zipper fly on these, so you need to fiddle with the overly long belt every bathroom break, if that's important to you. Very versatile..dip in the pool, hit the hiking trail, kick back at the bbq. Seems to sort of be a hybrid between athletic short comfort and casual short versatility.

First line in description, says has mesh liner. I do not own any running shorts, but I have owned many trunks, and they have all had liners.

Has liner. Have owned several pairs since 2000. Great all round - use them for running too. Very comfortable.

mesh liner is like that in swimming trunks, not like in gym shorts. or as i like to say, these shorts have the internet.

They were solid blue. I put them on, went to the pool, and when I got out of the pool, they were still blue, but had many, many North Face logos imprinted in the blue. Once they dried, they were just solid blue again. Very weird!

I love The North Face belted Class V swim trunks, except I have trouble with the belt wanting to curl over on itself back where it is impossible to uncurl it. If the belt were on the outside of the trunks, held in place with belt loops, this wouldn't be such a problem. As is, you can pull out only so much of the belt to try to smooth out the belt. I had to have the belt replaced in the last pair, and will have the belt in this pair replaced, too.

That is the only complaint. I would rate them a full five stars, if it weren't for the belt problems. I need the belt to keep them up! Others without a belt just won't stay up.

Great shorts for the river or dancing at Bonaroo. Belts a little long but I would definitely recommend these North Face trunks to anyone.

Work great, look good. Don't need too much else for water shorts. They dried pretty quickly as well. The water-activated print on the short tripped me out the first time I noticed it, but I like it. I have a 33/34 inch waist and ordered a large. Able to tighten enough for a good snug fit.

What's the inseam on the "short" size?

I "chatted" via the chat now function - with a sales rep as I was looking for an answer to a similar question.

The short version has a 6" inseam.

The regular version has a 8" inseam.

Hooray for crowd sourcing answers.
