Excellent Product! Love North Face!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Cannot be happier with this jacket. Wind resistant and warm down to 25 degrees with a base layer. Not too bulky and stylish. My only minor complaint is the collar doesn't always lay flat.

How does this jacket compare to TNF Apex Bionic?

Best Answer Responded on

Hey jef3244332,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
To answer your question simply, the Chromium will be WARMER than the Apex Bionic jacket.

Both jackets have the Apex Climateblock fabric on the outside which will block the wind completely, but the Chromium has a high pile fleece inside designed to help keep the warmth trapped within the jacket.

So worth every dime!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

My son wanted this jacket and was totally stocked when it came he where's it ever day. Fast shipping and love that during Xmas they have hefty credits on items purchased which made it easy to but 2 more jacket! This jacket is ten times the apex bionic that I bought for my other son for just $10 less

Little disappointed

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

The jacket seems like it would be a great one. However there is a disadvantage for people who are tall, or have long torso. I didn't see that the jacket came in a tall which is a disappointment. The jacket just does not come down far enough, which is a problem when you are trying to stay warm in weather zero or below!

Not What I Expected

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

The jacket was too thin. Not warm

GORGEOUS coat BUT runs small :(

I LOVE these coats. My only "complaint" is that they do NOT run true to size. I usually wear an XL but I would need a XXL.

Had for over a year in various weather

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have had this jacket for over a year and used in temperatures from 10 degrees to 60 degrees and I love it. I like colder weather and with it being fleece lined I don't need any thicker jacket than this. It keeps me very warm throughout. For rain and snow it is perfect because the rain is repelled like water on a duck. It does not soak through at all and if there is water droplets on it you can just shake and it comes right off. I also bought my wife the women's version and she loves it just as much. I will be purchasing some for Christmas gifts.

Love this jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket about a month back, to prepare for the coming winter months, and I'm already impressed with the performance. We've already had some bitter cold days in VA, and this jacket does the trick with just a t-shirt underneath. I'm sure if you wanted to, wearing a base-layer would work great as well for those extra chilly days... Overall, i would definitely recommend this jacket, another great TNF product.

Is this jacket completely lined with fleece...

Is this jacket completely lined with fleece or is it a two piece jacket? Would it be warm enough to wear alone in winter temps between 20F and 30F? Or is a separate piece needed?

Responded on

This jacket is lined with fleece that is bonded to the inside of the jacket. If it is warm enough to wear in the temps you listed depends on how warm your body tends to be, and what you are doing. There is a big difference in jacket needs between standing around, skiing, or hiking up a mountain. I would say that I personally would feel comfortable wearing this over a t-shirt while standing around/walking around town down to around 20F, but I also live in Maine where it regularly drops below 0, so my idea of cold comfort is different them some other peoples.

Warm, clean, nice

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Got this as a gift for my father in law. He absolutely loves it. He wanted something warmer than the bionic, this thicker version is perfect for his needs as a handy man in the north east. He wanted something rain resistant, warm and durable. Fits him perfectly too!

Great Jacket!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Picked up this jacket at Backcountry on sale and it has been fantastic! One comment on the sizing though: I'm 6'3" 175lb with a long torso and jackets from the North Face tend to be a bit short for me (Size M, everything else about it fits great). The arms are plenty large to accommodate layers and fits pretty true to size otherwise. Just wanted to point that out for any taller, long-waisted guys.

What is the temperature rating for this...

What is the temperature rating for this coat?

Best Answer Responded on

Jackets don't really have temperature ratings because whether you're warm or cold is too specific to who's wearing them. But, without more layers, you'll start feeling the chill at about freezing, maybe a little higher. So, to be on the safe side, plan for 40 degrees , hope for lower, dress accordingly for your comfort level. Hope this helps.

also, don't forget about your intended use. you might be a cole person, but if you wear it biking you'll be warm at lower temps than if you're just walking around town.

Solid jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Runs true to size if not a touch large. I am 6'1 with a long torso and got an xl and am happy with that size. Jacket is rugged and for price is hard to beat. I like not having the zipper on the chest and the fleece is nice. water resistance is good. cleans easily. good for layering, maybe bulky for a long hike where you are layering but I love it.

Appropriate for the cold winter

buy this product for my son and now buy for me. Excellent product! Very appropriate for the cold winter in Chile.

Two thumbs up!!

Great jacket, ordered asphalt grey heather medium (5'8" 155). Love the color. Good fit, sleeves are a bit long. This jacket is surprisingly wind proof, and water repellant (beads right off), and does a great job of trapping heat in. In fact, that would be my only complaint is that it can get to hot on occasion...armpit zips would be nice. Works great on the ski hill, layer up for temps below 20 degrees.

Perfect

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great jacket for high 20's and 30's. Good amount of insulation and keeps the wind at bay. I'm 6' 175lbs, large fit perfectly.

Nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Quality jacket. Water resistant. The only drawback is it does run a little small.

Nice Jacket

  • Gender: Male

North Face quality for sure. Blocks the wind and all around good fall jacket. One word of caution, order the next size up if you plan to layer under the jacket.

great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this for my husband for christmas and he LOVES it! I bought him the asphalt grey heather and he has received many complements on the pattern. He says its warm and wind resistant. The water beads right off of it. Great jacket, especially for the price.
