Almost perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 8"
    Weight: 180 lbs
    Size Purchased: l

It's comfortable, fairly warm (useable into the 40's) and just roomy enough. The one drawback for me was no accessory pockets - just the 2 pockets to keep your hands in. It would be nice to have a pocket to store my cell-phone or other stuff in.

Great Light Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 190 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

I bought this jacket for my boyfriend and despite the fact that I got a really good deal on it, it is definitely nice enough that I would have paid full price! It looks very sleek on (I ordered the black - I especially like that the logo is also black) and also looks very high quality. My boyfriend is 6' and about 190 and the large fits him perfectly. It is warm enough with a hoodie underneath on colder days, but is definitely perfect for in between seasons and 30-50 degree weather we have been having here in Chicago now. I bought it to replace this disgusting fleece he had been wearing for years and it does the job so nicely; it is warm and comfy like a fleece jacket but looks WAY nicer and put together. I know it will last him a long time. He is very happy with the jacket and would definitely recommend it!

Almost there

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5' 11"
    Weight: 200 lbs
    Size Purchased: large

Fit is tight in chest and upper arm, I'm 5'-11" 200 lbs. and sleeves are long (take 33", they are at least 34"). Other frustrations include lack of 3rd outside pocket and lack of inside pocket, which is typical for the type of jacket.

Overall satisfied with the performance, just would like the typical creature comforts.

Great soft shell jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 180 lbs
    Size Purchased: large

This soft shell from north face is very warm and the fit is quite roomy. It's very warm and soft inside. Things that I wish it had is the chest pocket that the previous years jackets have had. I also wish that it had more of an athletic fit. Overall I am very happy with this jacket and would recommend this to others.

Great softshell

I know, I know---The North Face is what all the trendy kids wear. Believe it or not, though, they do make some great gear, and the Chromium Thermal Softshell is one of these.

The fit is perfect for my 5'11" 200lb frame, (I've got a little Pillsbury Doughboy going around the midsection) not too tight, not too loose. You can easily throw a light baselayer under it if you need to. The jacket sheds light rain and snow well, but you'll want a rain shell when the heavens really open.

Warmthwise, I found the fleecy interior does a good job for temperatures down into the low 30's, and the windproof fabric helps keep the warmth in. I had just a T shirt on underneath and was warm enough. I put off a lot of body heat, however, so your mileage may vary. It's probably safe to say that you will be fine with temperatures into the high 30's or low 40's.

The jacket breathes well. I ran a few laps around the neighborhood while wearing it in temperatures around the mid 40's and didn't get too warm. Some pit zips would have been nice to improve ventilation but it wasn't a huge deal for me.

To sum it up, this is a great jacket from The North Face. The only gripe I have against it would be the lack of pit zips, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I have one of these from the past years and I just unzip the pockets if I need extra venting.

Missing a classic!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I'm surprised they did away with the black jacket with white logo. I've had the Chromium jacket that is Black with a White logo for some time and was just checking to see if it was available still. The jacket itself is great and I love it! I hope they bring back the classic Black/White combination.
