The North Face Borealis SE Backpack brings fresh new styles and materials to the classic daypack. Fill this Special Edition Borealis with books, slide your 15-inch laptop into the padded sleeve, and you're ready for class. Stuff it with extra clothes and camera gear and you're off on an urban adventure. Two mesh bottle pockets hold plenty of water, and the exterior bungee cord straps down a helmet or lightweight jacket. The padded mesh straps and back panel keep you cool on those sweltering summer days.

Not that water resistant. walking to or from class on a short walk you woul be fine but not for long distances in the rain

I bought this in black and use it daily for all my gear! I also use it backpacking and use it on trips as a carry-on. It is very functional and good looking. I put it in the wash and it came out looking better than ever!
Standard daypacks like the Borealis will fit a wide range of torso lengths - at 5'2 you should be fine.
