One of the most proven crossover daypacks on the market, The North Face Borealis Backpack suits your needs whether you're heading to class or on an overnight adventure. Solid Backpack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the first nice backpack I have ever purchased. I usually buy any old thing, and of course it turns out poorly. I received my pack in two days, which was awesome (and free shipping) and started using it right away. Hiking, fishing, trips, etc. It has plenty of pockets for any occasion. I can put my laptop in the nicely padded main pocket for work or travel or my camelback pouch when I am out on a hike. It has a great look and feels sturdy. I would absolutely recommend this pack.

Nice backpack

Does what it's supposed to. Lots of pockets, straps to hold everything you need. Main compartment is a bit small, but I think it will stretch out more as it breaks in. Overall, a good purchase, especially for the price.

For every campus warrior.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a decent backpack. I purchased it for the laptop sleeve, but that is the only great feature. Everything else is actually pretty normal and boring.

If you carry more than two books and your laptop the backpack gets very tight. It is surprisingly deep for how small it feels in width.

The elastic on the front is pretty weak and basically worthless. You cannot safely store a skateboard with the cord. Another problem with the bag is that the side pockets are a tight fit for large water bottles. Sliding in a Nalgene or a smoothie in a mason jar is a more difficult task than it should be. Small water bottles fit fine, but the large ones outdoor junkies and sorority sisters carry are difficult to slide in.

This is a fine backpack, but there are many different backpacks that have much better features and better methods of storage.

Good student & computer pack

The laptop storage sleeve has nice protective padding and will accommodate up to a 15" laptop with no problem.

The water bottle holders on the outside hold bottles securely (unlike some similar packs). There is a good selection of pockets and spaces for pens, calculators, keys, and books. I like the compression straps, the sternum strap, and non-removable waist belt. The mesh padding helps keep your back dry. The zippers are nice and beefy.
