School day, work day, or play day? The North Face 1850cu inch Borealis Backpack is ready for any kind of day you throw its way. The Borealis' angled bottom panel keeps weight close to your back, and the stowable waist-belt increases support for long days on foot. Stash a light jacket in the bungee carry system, and put your water in the side bottle pockets or in the padded internal pocket that holds your water bladder (not included). Keep your pens, cell phone, and other small items organized in the two front zip pockets, and take on your day with The North Face's Borealis Backpack.
Bottom Line: Whether you plan an urban outing or a short hike, The North Face readies you for your day with the Borealis Backpack.
It is the PERFECT backpack. I am a college student and it fits everything i need for the day perfectly. also great for doing this on the weekend. this backpack is for anyone!
Yes, make sure they don't put too much weight in it, this is very bad on their backs. I know I carried way more than I should have in middle school because my backpack would allow it, however that being said, this pack has lasted me 2 years already and shows no signs of giving up anytime soon, great product.

this backpack is ok if you're a city person trying to look like you're a hiker/backpacker. but if you actually hike, bike, or rock climb like i do, you'll want to make use of every possible feature on your backpack. the borealis has the features of a standard daypack, like the side water bottle holders, the small front pocket, and the laptop sleeve which is nice. also it is very comfortable on the back and shoulders. however, the organizer in the secondary compartment is no good because if i put a lot of little stuff in the pockets it makes the whole thing sag. and the bungee system is a joke. it's too small to fit anything securely. i am going to sell this to my sister and buy the hot shot, which has a daisy-chain on the front for clipping things to. by the way, get the "first ascent" version. it's cheaper.
Now seriously... I bought this backpack for my husband's birthday. He loves it. Its perfect for our biking adventures. I was hoping that finally I won't have to carry all the sandwiches, clothes, sunscreen lotion, maps, water...well I'm not so lucky, because now He is able to take with him his digital camera, his camcorder, the tripod and all the small stuff coming with them like lenses, tapes, flashcards....The multiple small pockets in the front are perfect for organizing them. He says that its very comfortable and....he loves the whistle :)
I did so much research before i got this backpack and now that i have it i am so happy. it has been working great for school. I'm a sophomore in high school and it carries a good amount of stuff without becoming uncomfortable. I got it in asphalt gray/zinc gray. BEAUTIFUL!
Is a great pack, a little smaller than I expected, but has fit everything that I need. Has great padding so my shoulders don't ache after long hikes. And I suspect it would be fairly water resistant but I am not positive.
This is a great backpack for school or hiking. The laptop compartment is lightly padded with a clip to secure it in place. It is 11in by 15in so it will fit a wider screen laptop. It also has a loop at the top that you could hang a hydration bladder on (instead of a laptop) and then run the tube out the hole in the top of the backpack for hikes.
Had my first borealis stolen and had to replace with the same one - for the price you're not going to get a better everyday campus gear. Great for the occasional biking/skiing trip too
I bought this daypack a month a go. I use it as a diaper bag for my 15 month old baby boy. It's very comfortable and all my baby needs fit in there. WE REALLY LOVE THIS DAYPACK!!! It's worth every penny.
Great day bag for kicking around town or going on a quick hike. I found the waist straps kind of annoying so they got the ax doesn't seem like you can load it up enough for them to be useful / comfortable. There are better packs over all but for the price this gets the job done.
I love my new backpack! So comfortable. The side water bottle pouches are perfect for my Nalgene. Take into account what 3rddayinmy2063131 had to say about it though, regarding the "real climbing" downside (no daisy chain and not so great storage for lots of small heavy things like biners).
this is a great buy. i got this backpack for my brother who's in high school and it will probably last him years. i have the isabella myself and borealis is the guy version of that. i recommend this for any student.
It is the PERFECT backpack. I am a college student and it fits everything i need for the day perfectly. also great for doing this on the weekend. this more...
