It?s not waterproof !

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

45 min walk with light rain and totaly wet. That is not worth its price. Pitiful.

Not Waterproof

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

The Tech Specs for this jacket lists it as guaranteed waterproof. This is the reason I bought this jacket. I bike daily in rain and was willing to pay the money to have a jacket that was waterproof and still breathable. The jacket is breathable but in my first ride to work in the normal German morning drizzle(10 kilometers), the inside of the jacket along the arms, shoulder, and back were wet. I have continued to wear this jacket in my work commutes for the past week and it gets wet on the inside every time I ride in the rain. I thought maybe the wet was from my own body condensation but when it is not raining, the inside of the jacket is dry. I have put up with jackets that get wet on the inside for a while because I did not want to pay the money for the waterproof/breathable Gortex. This jacket was such a disappointment.

Thank you for your review. I have had similar experiences with many jackets and I'm getting to the point of wondering who is testing this gear and under what kind of silly, controlled conditions. I run and ride, as well and I just want a jacket that will keep me dry as it promises. If you've found one, regardless of the price, please share. Backcountry is great about returns. I think for many people, the jackets work, but for people really out there, these just don't cut it. Gore-tex is not guaranteed waterproof. I've had gore-tex boots get water in them. Something about the mist and or rain droplets while moving fast seems to get through gore-tex. I've stepped in puddles nearly ankle deep and stayed dry, yet on wet dewey mornings a run through the grass has gone right through gore-tex and soaked the inside of the shoe. I know the shoe is a different product, but still pertinent to the issue. Thank you.
