Blue Ridge Bx Sleeping Bag: 20-Degree Heatshield

During your family camping trip, put your kid to bed in The North Face Blue Ridge Bx Sleeping Bag each night. Overlapping-shingle construction ensures your child’s bag doesn’t have any cold spots, and Heatshield Optimal Technology SL insulation efficiently retains body heat, even if it gets damp. The North Face added a hood zipper to the 20-degree Blue Ridge, so junior can cover up completely on a particularly chilly night. A shoulder-level pocket works well as a headlamp stash spot, and easy-grab pull tabs make unzipping the Blue Ridge a cinch, in case nature calls in the middle of the night.

Bottom Line: A pint-size sleeping bag for your pint-size family members.

Excellent kids bag

I am very satisfied with this sleeping bag. Kept my 5 year old son worm and he found it very cozy. That the zipper only goes 2/3 the length of the bag is not really comfortable, but okay.

How does this bag compare to the North Face Tigger bag?

The main difference is going to be the type of insulation - The Tigger uses a branded Climashield HL insulation, where the Blue Ridge uses a proprietary insulation called Heat Seeker. Performance is going to be similar, but you are going to find that the Climashield is going to be slightly more compressible.
Hope this helps

A good bag for the small fry

By:
September 7, 2009

We've only used this bag for two nights in a heated hut- it kept my 5 year-old daughter toasty warm, with her in tights and a thermal top with the temps down to 8c. I'm not sure it would keep her warm on it's own below freezing, but it might. I'll have to test it further. Very roomy, the zippers are smooth, and she liked it. Lighter than the Aussie brands' childrens' bags.

Good bag

By:

I got a pair for my kids (5 & 8). The nylon liner feels cold to them and the bags do not have opposing zippers for zipping them together. Also the zipper only goes about 2/3 the length of the bag. That said, the bags compress smallish and have a durable feel. I recommend bringing warm pjs for the kids.

It means it comes in a box. Seriously. It means it has a stuff sack but no storage sack, hence it comes in a box.
