The North Face Blaze Micro Hooded Insulated Jacket is amazing because of what it isn't. It isn't heavy and it isn't bulky. That means you can layer over it and you won't look like you've spent the last month at the ice cream shop. It also means you can stash it in your pack and you won't even know it's there until the temperature drops and you need it.

  • Ultra-light weight won't drag you down during a hike
  • Permanently embedded microporous FlashDry particles dramatically decrease dry time
  • Stylish three color Vision zip closure for a little added flair
  • Two warm zippered hand pockets. One doubles as a stuff sack for the jacket
  • Hem cinch cord allows you to block out drafts

The hubby's been begging for this jacket forevs so I gave in and bought it for him. Perfect fit, happy husband. He's worn it everyday since he got it, got major brownie points!

warm and packs down

I work in production in NYC and have to work outdoors at all hours and in all types of weather. I wear this as insulation under my TNF Android softshell. as soon as I added it and went outside with both, I could tell I was warming up without getting damp. The combo is good down to the mid 30s, although I'd probably add a fleece if it was colder and I planned on working outdoors for an extended time. I haven't used it as an outer layer while working due to a fear of it tearing, but it would probably be fine around town. It packs down really well so I can stash it in my backpack full of other gear. Another plus is that it is a pretty close color match to the Android (and other TNF gear in this grey/blue combo), so they both make sort of defacto "tri-climate" without all of the bulk. Finally, it just looks cool.

You can compress this down to about half of the size here if you are packing it and trying to squeeze in a few more items.

    Great Jacekt

    • Gender:Male
    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Just got this a few weeks ago and I wear it everywhere. Bike to work, around town,on a bike ride in the mtns, down in the desert camping, traveling, airports. It's light, but it keeps you toasty. Packs down to nothing when you stash it inside it's pocket. I've worn it under a flannel shirt (so I didn't rip the jacket material) and it didn't bulk me up.

I'm 6' 200lbs and got the xl. Fits true to size.

Does the sweat really dry quickly with this jacket? I need something to ride bike with during the winter!

Dries quick once its off of you. I think it keeps you a little less ventilated than a high performance jacket. There are no vents either.

Has anyone seen this in person or own one?...

Has anyone seen this in person or own one? Wondering if it's shiny like the women's version? I saw the women's at local store and material is shiny, which I don't want. Pictures look like a more matte finish but want to be sure, thanks.

I just got this in the Asphalt Grey color, and it's definitely more of a shiny finish. It's not matte.
